Pets are NOT for throwing away when they get old or sick. They are a lifetime commitment. No matter how hard and painful the end is for you. You see it through to the very end.
Hello
you don’t know the circumstances
@@kirstieb8025 Neither do you, and in many cases, the circumstances are not good enough to warrant sacrificing a life.
I mean I heard that the original owners gave him away because he had cancer. I don’t know if that’s true or not but if it is, that was probably the best thing to do. They most likely didn’t have enough money to care for him. Keeping him would’ve just led to him slowly deteriorating from the cancer.
Amen! And cats. People just don't want to be bothered to have to take care of them and medicate them and feed them slowly and be more patient with them and their accidents etc etc
I love senior dogs. That's all I'm adopting. So cute, chill and loving. Just want a safe, warm place to lay their heads down. On another note, my dog passed away from cancer a few years ago. To me, it was an honor to care for him and be there as he took his last breath. Our eyes were locked on each other. We will be together again someday, for all eternity.
God bless you and all people like you.🙏
I love senior dogs too 💘💘💘they are so tender and beautiful. Pure love
My 14 year old mix lab is getting the stage that I will have to make the hardest decision of my life soon.
I firmly feel that the way we crossed each others paths was not by chance. I'm not into faith or destiny, but I believe we were bonded together even before we ever met.
Me too. I love senior dogs all they want is love and a forever home.
An Old Legend tells that when a Human Cares and Protects an Animal until his death...a Ray of Light will guide his Life Forever 🤗
We adopted a 13 year old dachshund that was horribly treated. Five broken teeth. Nails too long to walk. In pain all the time. He passed from a blood clot while in dental surgery. We gave him the best five weeks of his life and I will never forget the love he had and will never forget him. RIP my beloved Astro. Small dog, big heart.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
You gave him "ASTRO TURF!" 😇👏🤗💐
Aww I wish he could have had longer with you, poor pup.
It's DACHShund, not Dashhound.
💛🧡
I adopted a senior rescue who also has cancer. He’s doing well. Can’t imagine giving him to anyone else. He’s my sunshine.
So sweet. Thank you. 💕
The little kid running to meet the dog speaks much about the man and the family.
The absolute best kind of people.
Exactly, anyone who has kids needs to teach them how to be kind and loving towards animals.
Awesome family.
Such an inspiration . Amazing fosters.
A Big THANQ to the adoptive parents .

The best of humanity right here. I wish all humans could have a fraction of the love and compassion these folks have. So grateful for them!

Even his eyes looked different the next day. All he needed was love and security.
The hardest part of having a dog, is losing them. They truly are ' man's best friend '
There's a very, very good reason the brightest star in the evening sky is in the Great Dog, Canis Major, constellation.
It's ancient technology. By having a dog you are or you become aware of everything they're aware of.
They unfortunately do not live long enough. I've had about a dozen of them, til death do we part. I can not abandon love, and they are pure unconditional bundles of love. No dog I've ever had is anything like any dogs I've had before too. They all possess their own unique personalities... But it's always a love story. I can not imagine abandoning my dog. I've had him boarded for just a few days once. He shuts down. Stops, won't eat. I can not bring myself to break an innocent heart that has brought me comfort and joy for years upon years. It's tough when they start going downhill, but it's worth every second even still.
Not only dogs.Any animal , its hard to lose them.

True. Back in 2019 I lost my precious dog Tom Tom he was 13 almost 14. I had him since I was 9. He left a huge space in my heart💔 but it was a blessing having him in my life for he made those 13 yrs and 1 month so beautiful. Honestly Id do it all over again.

Amen to that.
That is for 👍 sure!
@The Dodo huh?
We have a 13 year old staffy he snores farts like mad but is such a loving dog and we wouldn't swap him for the world
Wow, the way he suddenly had the energy and confidence to run is, to me, a testament to a dog's need for love. He had been just waiting it out at the shelter until he died, but once there was someone and something to live for he transformed. I know this is just one dog out of literally millions in his situation, but it does me good to think that this boy's last time was spent with caring and affectionate people.
I adopted an 10 year old Rottweiler that no one wanted and he died peacefully in his sleep 5 fabulous years later .
I miss him so much .

Picked up a 15 year old dog who looked to be near gone, 3 years later he was still with us.
I wish this is what happened with my adopted senior dog.
I got her from the shelter when she was 11 (vet guessed age) and she lived out the rest of her life, one year and three months with me in peace and love.
Just wish we had more time together. I miss her so much 💜
Wow.

@@nmc1859 What you did is a truly selfless act for the benefit of your dog. Thanks to you, she learned what love was and what home was. These days, with coronavirus showing everyone's real nature it is horrible to hear what (some) young people think of seniors, especially in the context of limiting your activities and wants for the good of the community. There was a shift somewhere, from the most valued and respected people in a family or tribe, the elderly have become a burden to get rid of, a buzzkill preventing you from organizing big parties. It's a relief that there are still people that do not see age as a barrier to love.
that hit in the feels. So good to know he will see the end of his days surrounded by people who love him. Amazing transformation!
Caring for old dogs is the actions of a TRUE dog lover. Anyone can provide love and attention to a puppy but what this guy did for this dog was truly beautiful.
63 year old man I was crying, seeing the love in his eyes when he looked at his dad ❤️
I understand the fostering process and all, but the way Henry came alive when he saw Zach was so poignant. It makes me wonder if Henry felt sad and missed Zach after being adopted.
The great thing about our dogs is that they can share their love without it getting any smaller. Few people can do that too. Many years ago I took a dog from a very insecure family and passed it on afterwards. He was only with me for a short time. After that I saw him less often, sometimes only once a year. He always remembered me and the fact that I took him out of the unfortunate situation back then. His friendship was huge. And he loved his new dad dearly.
I think he remembers Zach, a good memory without despair, just good.
The same with me. That is the fruits of love.
@@MeganVictoriaKearns I noticed that dogs do adapt to another home and learn to love the new carer yet when they do get to see their beloved ( ex dad/ owner) , there's that deep painful yet joyous whimper or cry they let out that breaks one's heart. This also happens at reunions, return from vacation or other long separations.
I am here with my litgle girl crying.

My dog was the same. She passed away 4 years ago.
She was just 7 years old
When you picked him up at the vet I bawled. You could tell he had been worried you weren't coming back but was so happy you did
When I see senior dogs at the shelters, my heart breaks.
Like my grandfather used to tell me, "When getting a pet, no matter what it is whether it has a breed or not, it's considered a family member, so take care of it from the beginning up until it's last moments". I've lost 4 pets so far, all of them lived for more than 15years, I was there when they were just puppies and kittens and I was also there when one by one they left us. Please love them like your children or siblings, because you're all that they have and don't let them down.
So happy that there are people like him in this world..we all should be like Him...the dog is cute tho

I broke my feet today because I kicked my computer because someone commented that my videos are bad! I hate unjustified criticism. Please wish me a speedy recovery, dear istan
@One of eight billion uhhhh...you do realize he is just trying to get attention, right?
@One of eight billion even the littlest of attention can encourage more bs, sadly. But you keep doing whatever you want, who am I to stop you?
@One of eight billion uhhhhh ok
The reason dogs make such wonderful companions is that they, like us, need to know there is someone who cares and will provide support and encouragement when things aren't going so well. There's a little module in their genetics that requires a sense of belonging. Thank you for helping this beautiful dog.
Wow you should have just kept him he loves you so much
@@gigisdiamonds I totally agree with you. If it was a younger dog or puppy, then yes, find the best forever home for them. But Henry was very senior and in my opinion, should have stayed. Why take a chance of confusing him again and possibly feel abandoned. All I can do is hope he didn't have any issues with the transition to the new family and will be even more cherished and adored until he goes to the Rainbow Bridge!💕
@@cocorox9677 I agree. I believe in prayer . So it gives me a faith that while they made their choice. He will still at least be loved and feel it. Yes his age and knowing he didn’t have that long to live had me wondering why they passed him on. Thank you for the positive comment. 💖🐾✌🏼
I agree
You should have kept him and gotten him neutered.
@Celeste Cosimini that’s true but when it comes to old ailing dogs it’s a bit different, I would’ve kept him if I were him because he doesn’t have much time left and the next ppl might not be nice to him, I’d want his last days to be the best
So many times a dog will shutdown in the shelter and start to give up. They need love and care , especially the seniors. Thank you Zach Skow for giving this boy a 2nd chance.
My daughter brought a dachshund pup of 5 months home 5 years ago and at the age of 61 a had never had a dog before a just didnt realise what company they could be a just didnt realise how much love you share together and as much that a enjoyed having her as a pup should a live long enough to have another dog it will certainly be a rescue dog of which will have a good home with the love and kindness all dogs should recieve av learnt a lot from having my little girl theres love out there you just need to open your heart and let it in

I don’t believe in “love heals all wounds” but this is definitely an example of how it can.
Maybe the love we exchange with each other or encounter in our every day lives is not all there is. Is not whole love. Not pure love. But still it has to exist.
Sometimes in order to find our purpose, we need to take two steps back and help out others. One act of kindness goes a long way...❤
Dust Bunny:I don't believe it does either but the scarr get smaller. The burden gets lighter and you don't have it on your mind all the time. I believe that love 😘 helps heal .
With dogs I think it can. Dogs have a magnificent gift for living in the moment

Speaking as someone who did rescue for many years, I can tell you this man is VERY special. There aren't a lot like him. When people say they "love" animals, they usually mean their own animal. For all the people believing he should have kept this dog, look at the progress he made in six weeks with this man. It's not like he spent months and months with him and is then let go. During the course of pandemic, all three of my little dogs passed from old age, 16YO, 18YO & 20YO+. Left me broken-hearted, big time. Six weeks ago, I adopted an 11YO shepherd mix from a local shelter. He'd been left there b/c of "medical problems" (he has autoimmune disorder & so do I), adopted & returned, languished in shelter a long time. I heard his story over the phone & said I wanted him sight unseen, told my friends "I'm letting God choose my next dog. When the shelter volunteer brought him out, I thought, "Oh Lord, what have we done?"
Dog was scruffy, aloof, dull coat, 55 lb. & obese, listless, ignored humans, pulled hard on his leash: a singularly unappealing animal who looked like a junkyard rescue dog on "Animal Cops Houston." He perked up once he was in the car, as if he knew he was leaving dog prison. Within 24 hours, he'd developed a PASSION for being brushed. Over several days, I pulled GALLONS of dead hair & dry skin off my new dog. Within a week of brushing & grain-free diet, he was losing weight & gleaming like a wet seal.
Now, 6 weeks later, he sits, waits at the door instead of rushing ahead when we go for walks, comes when called, walks quietly by my side on the leash, brings his toy so we can play fetch, smiles, has lost weight, acts silly sometimes, has learned to howl when I howl, crawls on his tummy when I say "bang," etc. His name is now Edward (his dignity demanded a dignified name) & he's so good, people think he was "well trained" before I got him. Nope! He's just a grateful & brilliant dog who loves to love & learn.
However long Edward remains here on this earth, I'll do my very best to make his life wonderful. ADOPT A SENIOR DOG! THEY'RE WONDERFUL!
This comment made me cry. I'm so sorry for your loss but sooooo happy for you and Edward! I hope you have blessed days and nights . Full of love and joy. God bless you for your kindness towards a soul and that just needed love. Which you provided tenfold. God bless you a thousand times x

@@davidbarber4709 what you are saying is so true. If we all tried we could make this world such a better place. I try to at least once a day do some thing that will make someone or something a little happier, whether it’s smiling at someone, complementing someone that you don’t know, just leaving a few dollars on some shelves in the grocery store, or helping animals that may need help. It makes me feel good & I think it’s good for the soul to be there for others. ❤️ hi from America.
I'll second that!
I'm about to lose my 14yr old german shepherd to oral cancer that is spreading devastatingly fast. He's been our baby since my gf and I were 18 so it's going to be the saddest day of our lives 😔 I just keep reminding myself to be grateful he lived a long happy and healthy life.
Sending you all peace. Treasure every moment.
I’m so very sorry.. I know what you’re going through, I lost my 10year old Chihuahua to oral cancer in September. Like you said, it spread so fast. Letting him go was the worst day of my life. Cherish every moment and know he’s so grateful for the wonderful life you’ve given him. Prayers and hugs to you both and your sweet pup
So sorry. Hope you can squeeze in many more days and memories with him.
I’m so sorry 💜💜 I’m sure you gave him the most beautiful life xx
Sending you, your gf and the GS doggo tons of love and prayers.

Would have liked to have seen if he was as happy with his adopted family.
But we did see at the end of the film !
He is, and he's still going strong a year later.
@@Tensen01 Really? 🥳😭🥳
That is so beautiful it made me cry. HOW COULD THEY PLONK HIM IN A SHELTER WHEN HE NEEDED THEM MOST? I don't understand some people🐕💞
Me neither.
We need more people like him in our world!
Yup!
He looks like joseph joestar part 3
It's so heartwarming to know there are such people in this world.
I walk my friends dog, and she also houses "fospice" cases. I always hear the stories, and they usually make my heart cry, but they're in such a good place with her and her husband and I'm glad to be a part of it. Senior dogs are precious.
no, we need more people to be like him :)
There's something about senior dogs that's both heartbreaking and bittersweet. From good boy to ol' good boy years, the things they've been through throughout the years, I simply wish every single one of them to get the world's purest love and safest homes.
Very well said God bless you and God bless all his creation
God bless you and your family for giving this noble dog a loving home.
You gave him a reason to live, that's why he got better.
Imagine having cancer and your family just abandoning you when you needed them the most..........That's exactly what Henry went through. And even after all that he was still just a loving and sweet boy. Dogs really are too good for us humans.
Agree! 100% If we could just take a page from their book on happiness and love, empathy and forgiveness, the world could be a much more peaceful place.
@@hazelsummer230 it really doesn’t take much to make a dog happy does it ? Why can’t we be more like that.❤️
Me too. This really gave me hope that one day I'll maybe have people who are kind, love me. 👵🙂
Aww he is a true trooper!! Such a strong 💪 Man!!
It's horrible, but it worked out for the best, because they probably had no money for surgery. There are milloons of families that cant even afford f _human Health Care!_
I don't like what they did either, but just saying.
I have just adopted a 13 year old who looks just like this sweet guy he to will spend his retirement surrounded by love

We take on senior animals as much if not more for them than us. They deserve to be special and loved for however long they have left.
bless dad for rescuing him so he has the happiest final days in his life until they meet again at the rainbow bridge.
A lot of people have stigmas about senior dogs. I hope after seeing this, those people see the difference a family can make and how sad it would be if an animal’s last view is a cold, lonely cage. Please adopt, don’t shop.
Spot on.
I agree! It's terrible to see thousands of shelter animals killed daily because nobody would even step up and foster. Most rescues depend on fosters. Fostering is free and temporary.
I love senior dogs so much!
I would if shelters here weren't way too strict
@@sprinkleLPs Contact local rescues and offer to foster for them. A good rescue should cover all of the vet bills and even food until the dog is adopted. Many dogs are killed in shelters daily because of not having a foster home to take them in when a rescue pulls them from the kill shelter. Rescues depend on donations and fosters to save lives.
It broke my heart seeing him becoming attached to you and hearing you were letting him go to someone else. I can only hope he fell in love with his next and last family
YES! It was great he pulled Henry out of the shelter, but he obviously bonded with him and had renewed hope and LIFE!
It's obvious he did bond with his new family, I'm sure he's very happy.
The benefit is that the foster can continue to do the same thing for other dogs who are in just as much need or if not more. I'm sure he wouldn't have given him away to a family that wasn't going to love him and care for him as much as he did. We can only pray for the best. 👌
It's amazing how Henry bounced back when he received love and care. So happy for him and the lucky families who spent time with Henry.
I'm not crying.....
I took in a dog back in 2019 with advanced congestive heart failure and he's still with me today after being given about a year to live. This post hit it home for me. Thank you Zach, Henry, and everyone here!
you are a special soul. Thank you, even though I dont know you, thank you so much :)
Love truly does Heal the heart
We need ppl like that on Earth.
I'm not crying, you're crying. Thank you Sir for helping this dog feel love. That makes the world better. ❤️❤️❤️
Hello dear how are you?
RIP Henry xxxx🥹😘
A dog it's forever is a son, a brother or sister your best friend a faithful companion, your pillow or your best blanket when cold outside, a shoulder when you crying, best companion when you play.
A dog is your comfort and your joy. I know mine was .❤️❤️
Dog is mankind's best friend. Unconditional love and service. Our task is to care for them and give them a good home in return.
I can be a pitiless jerk to people who earn my contempt and I'm a very disagreeable person... but these dog rescue videos get past my defenses and hit me straight in the heart. The dog is the most loyal creature that walks the face of this planet. Nothing else comes even remotely close. Treat them with the care they've earned with that loyalty.
@@michaeldavid6832 If you give me a home and feed me i sure would be loyal hahaha
We have a senior dog we adopted at 11-1/2 yrs old whose previous owners abandoned him because they thought he had cancer. He didn't. Now at 13-1/2 or so yrs old, he still has so much energy and such a fun personality. We love him to pieces. Think about adopting a senior dog. You won't regret it.
R.I.P.. sweet henry.......
His eyes are those of an old soul but also kindness and love despite his physical and most likely emotion pain. 🥰
It’s so sad that obviously a lot less dodo watchers would choose a film about an old dog rather than one about a puppy. Old dogs are gorgeous and thankful, and they deserve happiness!!!!
All I adopt/rescue too!
They’re the best!🐾
My dog lived to be 18 years old. One morning she couldn’t get up anymore and we had to say goodbye to her and it was heartbreaking. I loved that girl for 18 years. She knew she was special and wanted. I still miss that girl.
That makes me cry. I just lost my cat Marmalade to renal failure. I feel so lonely without him. I still have my cat Angie. She is so fluffy and affectionate.
Hugs to both of you! Hope time has made the loss of your babies a tiny it easier ❤
If you keep an animal you love long past when their quality of life is less than you would want for your last days, you are being selfish.
Because you loved her you sent her to the Rainbow Bridge. You will meet again.
The old dogs are the best in my experience. Their wisdom and love is huge.
Rest well Henry senior dogs deserve all the love.
That man gave that dog a miracle. I know he was a “foster,” but I was HEARTBROKEN that he was going to have to leave and have to bond with yet another person. Sometimes THAT is not fair for the poor souls. I pray and hope all of them are happy, healthy and blessed!
I disagree, Henry is going to have a loving home for the rest of his life, and this man can now save more dogs just like him. if he kept every dog he rescued, he wouldn't be able to help so many pups in need. it seems sad, but it's actually wonderful.
I assume they visited a few times before so Henry was already familiar with them. He will have no problem bonding.
Yeah. This might have been the first person to treat this dog right and now he gave him up. But I'm 100% sure if the dog was actually depressed those people would let the guy know that Henry rather be with him.
So take comfort in that
@@crushingit5128 Yes, don’t get me wrong. I’m happy that he’s in a loving home, even if it’s not with the guy that rescued him.
It breaks my heart when people dump their senior dogs. Adopting a dog is for life, not just when they are young. You need to love them through the weak bladders, bad stomachs, arthritis, and everything else that old age throws at them. You are their entire world, their home and their hearts. Your dog will love you to their last breath, you owe it to them to love them until theirs. 💔💔
Some people can’t pay for the cancer treatment. It’s very expensive, they could’ve lost their job over the pandemic. You never know someone’s situation.
@@hello-up1fo That is a very different situation and not what I described. "Not just when they are young." Many people mindlessly adopt dogs without taking cost into account. I wanted a dog for years before I adopted mine, but waited until I was in a better financial position. I also pay for health insurance for him, in case he ever has big expensive medical issues. Loosing a job/home/ or medical condition absolutely makes sense to give your dog to people who could help. However, many people adopt and when the dog is simply not as much fun or has normal aging problems they dump the dog. some of them go out and then adopt puppies again because they are cute and fun. I am specifically talking about those who want a pup only when it is convenient.
We created the dog. They are mankind's unconditional responsibility. Some of them can't even literally survive without us. We are their stewards. We created them to depend upon us. Any dog which isn't properly cared for is a betrayal of the implied contract we made with dogs when they joined us on the human journey.
The contract: we'll take care of you and you will serve us and be our companions. We should love and care for dogs more than most people because most people don't depend on us like dogs do. People can take care of themselves, dogs shouldn't have to.
@@theindigopapillon3495 I thought you were implying that’s what the owner of the dog in this story did, sorry
@@hello-up1fo The cancer did not just show up. This dog was not taken to the vet for a very long time. Not to mention that testicular cancer is dogs is due to the animal not being neutered. The dog was neglected medically for years.
Hard to let go, but rewarding to see the old baby being loved and cared for his forever time xx
It’s remarkable the strength they can find, in the worst situations, when they get love they need.
This story of Henry’s journey was touchingly beautiful. God created the animals for us and we are to care and love them till their last breath. Animals are way more loyal and grateful than people and they will never leave your side. God bless the rescuer and Henry.
sometimes i don't think we deserve them.
I agree with you apart from that god didn’t create everything and doesn’t exist and why would ‘god’ make animals for us
@@jackknight9191 Why would a parent make, or give things to us?
I do agree with most but we are animals. No need to differentiate ourselves from other animals. We were all created on the sixth 'day'. The catholic church research team says you should see day as a metaphor.
It is our job to protect and care for all animals of the world. We are one with them. If we harm them we harm ourselves.
