As someone who has had to miss out on most of the SH Monsterarts releases because of their prices, I agree. Hiya Toys is a welcomed change. I've got the 2021 Godzilla and Kong, just recently got the 2019 Godzilla, I have the 2019 Ghidorah on pre-order and am looking forward to the Skullcrawler and the "91 Heisei Godzilla they teased at Toyfair. Also nice channel, I think I'll subscribe.
@@VicFettOfficial But at what price? Are we talking affordable prices, aftermarket prices or usual SH Monsterarts high prices. My missing out is not due to not finding them. My issue is their astronomical prices. Hiya is a premium price that is affordable for me, vs Monsterarts being typically at or over $100 and rarely under that, and even then it's still so close that after taxes and shipping it may as well be $100.
Im thinking about starting a monsterverse collection of toys. I think ima do Hiya, not sure yet though. Hiya looks more accurate to the movie, and that’s what Im looking for.
Good call, because hiyas mv line is better overall, but in my opinion when you reach the Kong 2021, you should go for the shma Kong 2021 because it’s more movie accurate along with the axe, better paint job than the hiyas Kong and axe.
The fact that I think the Hiya Ghidorah looke better than the SH one, and the fact that they're making a skullcrawler which SH hasn't done yet, plus them being cheaper? I'm sold already.
Hiya is easily a better company. Great detail, solid joints, they give you what they promised unlike Bandai with the SHMA line with faulty paint, loose joints, hollow gaps and ghastly prices. Yuuji Sakai is a fantastic sculptor and the molds themselves always look great but I feel like the shma line was always overhyped a bit. Hiya is a legit threat to them and I’m all for it.
i'd say that both are great in their own way. Hiya finally gives us Monsterverse fans the accurate designs we want while SHMA gives us our favourite classic Godzilla characters, minus the whole price thing cause goddamn are they expensive af.
I have all the SHMA ever released, yes even the new Night Color 2019 that was just relased. Bandi just doesnt do as well with 3d models as they do with hand-sculpting (exception with Gamera Rebirth). I'm keeping all my MV MA inn their box with the Hyia out and displayed. In saying that when Hyia starts releasing Toho figures I think MA will have them beat. Yuji is a master sculptor, and while overprices, you really feel the level of detail he puts in his work.
Everyone will have their preferences but I prefer the Hiya figures. Excellent sculpt, build quality seems more robust, and I don’t see gaps in the Hiya figures when I pose them vs the SHMA. I’ll still buy SHMA for figures Hiya doesn’t make, but that’s about it. I feel like Hiya strikes the perfect balance between Neca and SHMA.
My biggest problem with the MA Godzilla is the sculpt is complete ass, quite inaccurate especially in the head. Hiya on the other hand is a literal 1:1 from the CGI model and comparing the accuracy of the sculpts shows a clear winner. The only thing MonsterArts has is slightly better articulation with a worse sculpt, and arguably way more QC issues. With the real kicker being its a lot more expensive. Hiya is def the preferred figure for the MV line.
I believe the MonsterArts sculpt is stylized to look more in-line with their 2014 figure as well. In terms of accuracy, there's no competition. I think.
Great comparison between the two! You've really highlighted just how little all those extra cuts and joints actually accomplish. The HIYA is more accurate, with better paint applications and costs less. It's a no brainer which is better. However, I will say that the SMHA is better as a "stunt" figure, for when you really need those exaggerated poses. The HIYA, on the other hand, is much more photogenic and the joints/cuts are not nearly as obvious. The poses that the HIYA can pull off just end up looking more natural. HIYA also takes criticism seriously, as they fixed the gap in the neck and the jaw pin after their first release. Meanwhile, Bandai refused to do anything to improve the paint or sculpt of the 2014 SMHA, and we had to wait until KOTM to get a "proper" looking Monsterverse Godzilla. I also dont mind HIYA doing tons of repaints, because they're a smaller company and it helps fund newer sculpts. Meanwhile with Bandai, it just feels like greed. Like seriously, "night color" edition? Oh and dont get me started on the GxK New Empire "pre-evolved" repaint. I'm hoping that HIYA sticks around for a long time. Bandai need the competition.
See, to me shmonsterarts will *always* win, no matter what. Hiya toys has made sime fuckung awesome figures, but when it comes to certain shma figures like the Kiryu's, iris, any of the heisei ghidorahs, Destoroyah, both gigans, ect. Shmonsterarts may have their lows, but when it comes to yhe highs, god DAMN shma tanks. Here's what I predict will happen: hiya toys will make great monster verse figures (because all of the monsterarts ones so far suck), but the heisei and other eras, monsterarts will be much better, and the pice isn't always bad, sometimes if its just a godzilla with no accessories or anything, just like a small release, its about 60-ish dollars. I argue that it is worth the extra 50 or so more dollars
Just pre-ordered 4 figures from Hiya, I like SMHA, but after owning one, I'd like my figures to be intact when taking them out of the box. SHMA quality control is non-existence nowadays.
I chose hiya cuz it's bigger, cheaper and have solid details. It will stay at display case anyway so idgaf about better articulation. Literally just got my heat ray translucent and thermo godzilla today
I do have the SHMA Godzilla in the 2019 Monsterverse KOTM movie and I like it very much but I noticed that he doesn’t have too much coloring on him and the eyes were still derpy plus he doesn’t look as accurate to the movie, I’m getting this HIYA figure to see how good he feels.
Personally. I prefer the shma. It's smaller. Meaning i can have more on my set. And have him move around more. He's better for stop motion. And i like the dorsal plates on him. The hiya is cool. But i don't think it will beat the shma for me. Both are cool. But shma is more for me. (Edit. I got the hiya g19. And it was terrible. Both for stop motion. And it's quality. It's tail broke. And it's elbow felt like was going to as well. Joints were too tight and too loose on the full body. And it was a literal pain to move around. And I'm not over exaggerating on that. It quite literally hurt to move. Not to the point of making me blood. But still. Quickest and easiest refund of my life. Hopefully i will get the replacement soon. And hopefully it wont suck).
The only thing i like about Sh monster arts is the articulation and thats it i do like the paint but wheres the accesories!?, Its so rare to get accessories for 90 to 100 bucks just for a dang figure AND theres always a repaint with the same figure like 3 to 5 times already! We already got fanta and gatorade G19 why more for much more higher price.., when you can have a accurate figure and less expensive for a game changing 50 bucks! The only SHMA i have in my collection is FW goji and 21 goji while i got 4 hiya godzillas in my collection especially the repaints, So pretty much it depends on you on what figure you like more Shma or Hiya i respect you but i aint selling any kidney just for the same figure with only one accessories and different paint so much so for Godzilla 2021 SHMA and hiya also does this but hey most of their figures comes with accesories! and it stays the same price right? Hiya is a worthy alternative of SHMA if you dont wanna sell kidneys
My Hiya Kong took multiple 1,5m shelf dive, head first facing forward, to hard ceramic floor, and nothing breaks. Not even the fangs, which surprised me. Not a single crack as well. Not saying ppl should try it, but for me, that mf is almost as tough as a nokia phone
I bought hiya heat ray because there was one at my local comic shop and I dont buy things online most of the time also it’s cheaper and more accurate and another thing is that the heat ray figure as you said in the video has a looking up neck but even another thing is that why would you need to look up on the normal hiya Godzilla if it’s not gonna shoot out atomic breath plus Godzilla turns blue when he’s about to shoot the atomic breath
For better articulation the monster arts has worse paint sculpt and film accuracy and charges around $20-$30 extra isn’t worth it especially when the articulation on the hiya is only slightly worse
