For being outside his comfort zone and not his type of music at all he did really well. If he dedicated himself to this style of music I have no doubt he’d crush.
The reason he's on that particular kit is because he also cut a video with Drumeo demonstrating Genesis and Phil Collins drum parts...so in order to get those sounds, he's playing the same kit as his dad's. He played this kit on the last Genesis tour and his dad's last solo tour. His regular kit, which he played with the last Mike and the Mechanics tour, is also a Gretsch USA Custom, but regular toms in purple sparkle. Beautiful kit.
I was at the last Genesis show in NA (TD Garden Dec 2021), and was quite impressed with how well Nic was playing. Musical talent can be genetic. It's how you DEVELOP that talent that matters. And Nic is well on his way to stepping out of the considerably large shadow of his father's drum kit
Give the kid kudos on something hes has not played .....his dad music is complicated as is but its not fast metal music....but give him time he could do that type of music too ...bet if his dad seen this he be proud of him on this. ....
His problem seems to be using the double with it at that particular moment as he’s not used to it but he learns quick this was all apparently in two hours
I’ve seen videos of him with his dad and genesis and also with his own band the kid is very talented and definitely is his father’s son when it comes to drums
Love seeing metal played on a Phil Collins kit. I commented on the Drumeo video that I was dying to hear a run down the Tom’s in here somewhere just to throw it in.
It’s not perfect but he killed this, for having literally maybe 30 min and never having played metal or listen to metal music, extremely proud of his ability to tackle this. Talented drummer with no doubt, well done Nick Collins 🔥🤘🏻
Started listening to A7X at Sounding the 7th Trumpet and was instantly hooked. Wasn't a huge fan of this album, but this was not an easy song to learn...it wasn't even almost easy🤘😉
He did well. But I can't stop thinking that his father, Phil Collins, would have done at least as well in his prime. Phil is often judged solely on songs like In the Air Tonight, but the material he played with Genesis in the '70s was sometimes just over the top for its time, on the same level as guys like Brufford and Peart.
Peart said that the drumming on the Genesis' Selling England album was so perfect that were was no way to touch it. Not a single note is missing on that one. A Trick to the Tail was even more intrincate.
That Gretch concert kit is a pain in the ass to play. It sounds awful unless you hit with pretty hard. Nic is not a metal fan, but he's used to play pretty complex stuff. He crushed it.
I've been a fan of Brooks Wackerman (Avenged drummer now) since he was a kid with his kid band Bad 4 Good produced by Steve Vai and the incredible Thomas McRocklin on guitar.
The worst thing here, is that you make a living, not by having any form of talent, but by putting your face on videos of people who do. Now, you're not alone in this, and what an odd world we live in where this is a 'thing'. Jeeps !!
its in the genes seriously.. if he can play his dad's (who is low key one of the top overall drummers in history) stuff both solo and from Genesis. I don't think there's much he COULDN'T play if given enough time to learn it properly.

The Collins, a family of great drummers!
Regardless if Nick can't play this song on the drums you can see he's an exceptional and talented drummer. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

Awesome brother that is how you do it. Phil's got to be proud he can hold his own much love🤘
Learning to play the Rev's music is" Almost Easy" Did a real good job getting out of the comfort zone. Talent is hard sometimes.
I'm a fan. Oh, I think I said it. He´s doing well. For a drummer who doesn't usually play this kind of music, he's done very well.
Saw him play on his Dad's tour. He was awesome. A chip off the old block. And his kit is a right-handed version of Phil's
His problem seems to be using the double with it at that particular moment as he’s not used to it but he learns quick this was all apparently in two hours
Bro for doing Phil Collins your entire life and being that close on the last take, the kid has talent and balls no doubt!
I’ve seen videos of him with his dad and genesis and also with his own band the kid is very talented and definitely is his father’s son when it comes to drums
He's great. As is his oul lad!
That hard part for him was hard because he didn't use double bass in that part.
He did a decent job👍

been a fan of A7X for about 2 decades now
Dude rocks

Old fan of A7x, had a thing for their stuff in my teen years :) i am fascinated at fast he is able to pick it up

Waking the fallen in my opinion was their best album I could listen to it every night over and over
Very good drummer ! 👏

It sounded good to me😊
Yeah, a bit of work with the double pedal and he's there. Clearly a talented guy.

Really good!

Far out yep remember him from then

I enjoy watching your narrative versions of this content rather than the original

can you talk about triple kick? lars ulrich one of my favs of all time
A7x, my favorite band :D
U could say fan and light
And this is an *easy* song from A7X, too. Jimmy was just a massive genius.
I’d like to see you try it lol or try a genre you don’t play maybe a reggae cover historically metal drummers can’t play something that simple lol
Bro, he's better than his father.
What would you consider Phil Collins' best drumming?
Hell no, at least not yet. Listen "The Musical Box", "Wot Gorilla" or "Apocalypse on 9/8" first.
brooks is the best replacement colby
A7X forever
Funny he had problems on one the easiest beats. Makes sense i guess
Be the same as a metal drummer trying to drum reggae but the difference is the metal drummer with never be able to do it lol
old a7x up till hail to the king is good. every other album is ehh
One way to get your feet wet lol or your neck lol
