Sadly this series does not reflect the majority of beekeepers. Beekeepers in Europe have largely been responsible for wiping out their native honeybee subspecies. In the New World mass movement and the industrialisation of beekeeping has also led to huge problems.
I didn't know there are honey bees native to Mexico! I only ever heard of the imported honey bees. Very informative! Thank you for documenting the traditions as well. I heard of the Day of the Dead, but didn't know about this.
This man has found the secret to long-lasting happiness. He has found a way to extend & maintain good health & fitness. Local bee honey is rich in the immune system of the entire ecosystem.
Has anyone ever asked if the bees were the ones to reveal the shape of the pyramid to the ancestors? Could that be why they are beyond sacred? Or any evidence of beekeeping in the temples maybe even ?
I wish there was a variety i could raise in southern California. Unfortunately there is no one who already raises any stingless bees. If anyone know anyone who raises stingless bees in southern California please contact me.
There are no native Melipona bees in the USA, people have successfully kept them there in the past though. You definitely have your work cut out for you since you'd have to find someone with bees descended from hives brought over before the border restrictions got tougher. You could always try to keep bumblebees, they are great for pollination.
@@AwesomeFish12 i was thinking of raising them. But i really want a variety of the stingless bees. I know there has to be someone who has them here in the states. But maybe they dont realize there is alot of people who would love to raise them.
Beautiful bees, beautiful weather, great history, chinampas... Why am I still in the PNW? lol Great, now I know there are beautiful non stinging bees that make honey in a different way than I'm used to. I at least need to go back on a long vacation.
These would be wondrous little critters to have in a greenhouse, i think! Better yields, and in a truly temperate climate, i doubt they would be able to invade.
After watching this series I am convinced that bee keepers are some of the wisest of people
