A great video, thanks guys, hope every year brings a great honey flow for you.
What a coincidence,, in Nepali language bee is called “Mauri”
I live in New Zealand, first time I have ever heard Maori called "Maori Indians" !!! 🙄
This is so amazing! I'm currently training as a beekeeper just to go there in NZ. Hope somebody will get me😊
@@gavin_abaya depending on what area you want to work in in New Zealand, check online for commercial beekeeper's in that area, then either call them or email them to see if they are looking for staff. You're better to call them directly for a better result. It's currently winter in New Zealand, so now is a good time to contact and prepare work Visa's, Gavin. Spring starts in September, which is when pollination work ( moving hives mostly) will begin in several north island and south island fruit growing regions. I wish you well.
Best honey I've ever had. ❤❤❤😊
❤
I've seen a mite after the 15-minute mark. Don't they hurt your hives?
Come do a documentary in Dominica (nature island)
Its nice to see a family beekeeping endeavor in New Zealand. Theres a lot of inaccurate information in this however, for example at the 16+ minutes mark when you talk about guard bees defending the hive you say its impossible for a foreign bee to gain entry. How the hell do you think varroa mite and American foul brood spread😂 guard bee's will allow other workers to pass, especially if they are carrying nectar. Thats called drifting. A weaker colony can be overwhelmed and have all its honey taken by other stronger hives. Thats called robbing. Manuka is a North Island and coastal southern Island plant, it doesn't grow in central Otago in the south Island unless its been planted. Our main honey crop plant is Thyme. This is peppered with misinformation.
I feel like watching this gives people more incorrect information than actual useful facts. "Maori Indians" what a joke.
@@AwesomeFish12 yeah I have to admit that was a "what the 🤨" moment. It isn't the only documentary these guys make about beekeeping that's peppered with wtf moments 😂
In new Zealand there making beekeepers burn there hives if they think they have motes but what's happening is big companies are attacking small companies and say there hives are neglected and having 5he corrupt gov officials come I and make them burn the hives with no compensation from the government when once there's mites in a area there is no real way to get rid of them we went through this in the us burning hives it's pointless and there's no protection for the little guys
15:37 mites
We Maori are commonly mistaken as Indians while we are People of the Pacific know as Polynesians
Less than a minute in and two huge mistakes. Calling the Maori people "Indians" and calling the Western Honey Bee Melifera melifera instead of Apis melifera... Seems like zero fact checking was done on this one before moving on to the narration part of production.
Really? "12,000 miles from its closest neighbors" - hilarious.
@@olsim1730yeah that is novel. Cap reinga oh and mellifera mellifera was different. That was the first minute
Māori indians 😂goodone
Comercial bee keeping is not doing the world any good . Here in Canada a beekeeper had 4600 hives over filling the environment with domestic pollinators. He also filled the environment with foul brood ' contaminated everything through miss management wiped out all the backyard beekeepers then quit . Now ..... no pollinators of any kind . Money managing money never works .
@@Gfthce3426 that's a piss poor and careless beekeeper not commercial beekeeping at fault. Most beekeepers are very concerned about AFB and deal with it immediately.
What a lovely family.. great beekeepers and protectors of a family tradition... great video
