My buddies and I flew this site a lot from 1979 till late eighties. Old gliders like Olympus and up condors and mj6 etc. Great launch except in the winter when it usually blew downwind on launch. So many great memories there. Really cool to run across this video and know somebody’s still flying there Thanks
Flew HG there many years ago , launch is very intimadating but actually very forgiving, we used to land right beside D Dutchman Dairy for their famous ice cream.
@@scottw550 The air temps over cold mountain lake vs. the beach would be sharp delta in short amount of distance down low. You'd come in on an angle accounting for all this cold-air sink over the lake, get over the beach only four feet up all tight, and then start floating along in the beach air.
Most of these bad landings were caused by having their hands too low on the down tubes to give a good flare. If they get their hands at least halfway up the down tubes they can flare properly and have a nice landing.
Nice video presentation! It would be great if they could land properly but, on the other hand, it is an educational video on landings as well. I like the flying site.
Это ошибка инструкторов. Отработка посадки проводится из малых склонов десятки и сотни раз (с колёсами). Замечаний много.Например, при посадке на воду, производят парашютирование, а ещё у Вас песок, растительность, контр склоны и так далее.
theres nothing wrong with flying with wheels. a lot of the pilots i see laughing at others for flying with wheels are the same ones whacking in and cracking their head on their keel. ditch the wheels if you want or if you really need the drag reduction but theres no need to be dismissive of safety gear. to me its like saying "why wear a helmet, just dont crash"
For the same reason you wear a helmet while wearing a bicycle. Sometimes you can hit something really hard, even though you're not going very fast. Stuff happens.
These pilot's obviously need get rid of those little roller blade wheels trying to look cool, and get some big wheels so they don't keep dorking in the nose.
Man... being a newly h2 pilot and watching this makes me feel a lot better about some of the landings I've had!
I feel better about my bad landing yesterday after seeing this. lol
Love spot landings and what a nice gathering 👍

"Splash Down" is an appropriate name! Flare people FLARE!! Great video

It's launches and landings... no apostrophes...
I am stunned at how bad these landings were, regardless of aiming for a spot
FCbisleybob it’s quite entertaining
The ground effect extends your glide and makes it hard without spoilers.

@Kason Vandergaag Well that was unexpected. Wild.

Wow! Small or no keel pockets! What a change from the '80s, when I flew a Wills Wing Harrier!
A landing clinic is in need over there guys.....nice flying site!
Hey, great work on the edit. Looks like you have a fantastic bunch of crazies out there!. Some pretty bad landings but that happens!.
Real nice! What is the width, length and angle of this ramp?? THANKS

Who won the yellow chair?
...I still fly with the 12" wheels after 12 years in the sport. They've mitigated or prevented a few nasty nose-ins !

Great video! Landings are awfully scary :)
Landing looks hard
Nice vídeo! Could anyone kindly let me know what is the take off ramp angle? Thanks!!
Thanks ❤ from 🇮🇳 India
Well, almost half of them actually know how to land. I flew hang gliders avidly for ten years, hundreds of hours, and fell on landing maybe 5 times.
I love hang gliding....
hold my beer, im gonna try this
very chill 👍
Lets not put wheels on the glider, lets not have landing skills and lets try to do a target landing
Pieter van Schaik you've nailed it!
In my day wheels were for students that hadn’t learned to land consistently yet. Looks stupid as hell and creates lots of drag

amazing!!!
Amazing
Man, what a WHACK-fest! Nice spot to fly though!
Why do they wear helmets? I mean...
lmao you got me at "i mean"

Voss in Norway?

What a fun video! Lots of shitty landings lol. That's what happens when you are trying to hit the mark tight.
Perfect
Great..where the F#@# is it??
Appears to be Queest Mountain, above Sicamous, B.C. , Canada. Between Kamloops and Calgary.
