Warframe *almost* has zero FOMO... I would like to say absolutely zero but there are/were two examples of FOMO I can think of. #1: Founders packs including Excalibur, Lato, and Skana Prime will *never* be available to earn for new players. #2: A few time limited cosmetic items that (as far as I am aware) are never coming back. Just to be clear I respect DE's decision to keep Excal Prime etc for founders only, I'm not bitter at all that I will never get them 😂
See, I don't consider Founder's Packs a bad version of FOMO. Founder's Packs are usually intended to give people incentive for investing in a game to get off the ground. If it doesn't get off the ground, then the risk has come to fruition and you lose out on that investment, but if it makes it, you get to keep your stuff. FOMO is, like, when Destiny 2 says "pay us $100 for one expansion and 3-4 batches of TEMPORARY content that you NEED to play in a maximum of a year, or else a big chunk of that gets removed and you lose out on that purchase." That 100% takes advantage of not only the player's fear that they'll miss out on content before it gets removed, but whenever Destiny players or content creators say "just take a break," you physically can't because you may not come back before the content is erased from the game.
@@RedShadowOfSaturn Yeah that's totally fair, it's just the closest thing I could think of to fomo in Warframe if I had to play devil's advocate but to be honest it's not even close to as predatory as some games, Destiny included, can be. It's very hard to fault DE in their monetisation decisions, they genuinely seem to respect our time and our wallets and other game developers/publishers should really pay attention imo.
Yeah, I tell people this all the time, Warframe has a lot of long term grinds and farms if a player wants it, but if a player doesn't want it, they can largely ignore most of it. Of all the new players I've seen jump on recently, MOST have fallen in love with the story, and when they get through all the quests, they're so blown away by the journey, they usually step away a bit and play other things as they want for more STORY content. Some stay for the stat upgrades and arcane farms and collecting more Warframes and such, but most are impressed by the story to a point where THAT is the most appealing thing and the repetitive grind isn't. And live services have REALLY needed to learn that lesson for a long time, and...for the most part, they haven't.
See since I started playing a year ago I have zero clue what I'm getting myself into, I'm typically a FPS gamer, but after my first "100" hours of gaming here WOW Im actually hooked into it. Plus what makes this game amazing overall is there's no such thing is you can play it however you want to whatever you feel like it. Matter of fact you can even go nuts and be crazy play Warframe how you want it.
Honestly in a nutshell at first the game does first feel overwhelming cause of lack of frames and weapons you have but in my experience hitting MR 5 or MR8 is game changing. I think? Someone correct me if I'm wrong though.
2:03 "So far warframe didn't have a fomo situation compared to *Destroy 2* for example" Wasn't present during the stream when this bit came out, but I almost snorted my coffee trying to stop myself from laughing. Also, it couldn't have been autocorrupt -- sorry, I mean autoCORRECT - because even if you went by glide-typing (which I do 90% of the time on my phone), the letters for "destiny" and "destroy" are on entirely different paths. Still amusing to think about, though.
I've played WoW starting at the end of Battle for Azaroth and stopped playing it somewhere at the end of Shadowlands because I could no longer justify/tolerate paying a monthly subscription for a game (addon) that I already paid 50+ € for just to play it. And if I'm completely honest, without having a ton of nostalgia from years of playing the game like the majority of the still active playerbase, the game really can't compete with other recent games in terms of story-telling, gameplay or graphics and I won't even touch the subject of ingame currency or shop
I did very rough math and 1 Warframe platinum about costs 7 US cents on the worst conversion rate and a little more than 1 cent on the best possible conversion rate(if PC still gets percent off not additional plat percent)
I’m not sure if I understand well but WoW can’t compared to Warframe for me maybe for the micro action like all the things you can buy but for the game.. mhhh I think Warframe can do a lot more if they don’t let’s the game go away. But I don’t really understand why people compared WoW to Warframe
The whole wow arguments feel rather misinformed, Mythic+ dungeon keys never "expire" sure, they reset weekly but there is no FOMO there as you will always get a new key. As for items, you need to run a certain level of difficulty to get a decent level item which you can upgrade to match max level gear. So sure, running a M0 and getting a sword, to later run a M+10 and getting the same sword is an upgrade you'll want, but you can upgrade that sword to match a M+15 reward for example.
The Fomo is that if you don't do the dungeon on release before the next dungeon, then you will be running the first dungeon with 2nd rate groups as everyone else has moved on. The key system is just another FOMO tool cause you might not make it to the final boss
@@GhoulxWarframe Not sure if we're talking about same game here, but retail wow will drop all dungeons at the same time, and you only run the dungeons normally on release, then later keep doing Mythic+ which is the Key system. As for failing, as long as the group does not fall apart you can still kill the final boss and get loot, you just wont get good score towards your m+ score, only way to really "Fail" a key is getting the group disbanded, and if that case your key only drops 1 level, which it easy to get back. I am not saying WoW is flawless, it has many flaws, but trying to say the M+ system is a fomo which is not it. Their monetarization is more of a problem, finding more ways to make us pay for less.
Warframe devs have, in the past, said outright that people should walk away and take breaks when they need - and come back when they want.
Iven in game if you play for too long ordis will tell you to take a break
The story of ordan karris is one to be heard.
You got a link??

The game is still in beta right? Maybe we get another round of buying the founders pack when the game releases 🤣

that is why i no longer play those type of games, i will not sell my life for a chance to have 1% chance of having fun
Lottery drops were the best thing about the game, honestly. Feels like you just run every dungeon 50 times no matter what now.

The shops are a joke and trivialize so many hard to obtain items and cosmetics

Might be able to incorporate this value into the micro transaction analysis video

There are elements in tons of games that can be compared. WoW is such a popular game from back in the gaming prime
