I’m a HUGE Nolan Arenado fan and it just sucks to see him going through all this. Clearly age has caught up to him and it seems to be getting to his head with all that frustration.
100% checking his anger on that 3rd base play. He slowed up on that play because of a misread on the hop or SS cut his angle. But, with the amount of work that dude puts in (starts in November!) I gotta lean towards the SS needing to give more space. When he's mad at himself, you see it. This was mad at the play. Anyone questioning his work ethic, competitiveness, or drive hasn't been paying attention for the last 12 years.
As a spoiled Cardinals fan (let’s face it we’ve had a lot to feel good about in the last 20 years), I think Arenado is a scapegoat for the team’s front office. I think he’s a fine player, but front office is more concerned about making a big splash to sell season tickets than looking toward the future. Arenado and Goldschmidt would have been great trade pieces last year to bolster our farm system and/or pitching. I understand Arenado has a no trade clause, but I think he would waive it for an opportunity to win a WS.
This is a wild thing to watch, considering one of my favorite ball players, Salvy. Salvy is an absolute horse of a player and has been one of the best catchers out there. But 9.5 times out of 10 if he rolls over or hits a sharp grounder like that, he'll barely make the tv broadcast by the time the ball gets to 1st base and no fan is gonna call him out for lack of hustle. On the 2nd hit, it's a weird play. I think if SS is gonna take the shot at home he has to call it off the first hop, otherwise that's clearly 3B ball and play at 1st. Just a wonky hop. This isn't lack of effort, lack of execution maybe, but lack of effort he wouldn't have even been in position to play that ball. Maybe time is catching up to Arrenado and you can complain about him not producing, but saying lack of effort makes no sense imo. Honestly, for a smart fan base they should consider who they are talking about. (And that's not a shot at them, as much as I love the i70 series and want to shit on Cards fans, they are some of the most fun people to talk ball with.) (Obligatory Go Royals.)
Always Hustle! If you hustle, they have to hustle. A fielder seeing you lollygag down the line means they can take their time to make a good throw. Force them into a bad throw and you get on base. "Do we care how he gets on base? We do not."
This is a great mindset in little league. In the big leagues you're far more likely to pull a hammy in sprinting unnecessarily in a 4 run game in July than you are to force a bad throw
Braves won that trade so big for sale considering grissoms season so far. It was crazy how everyone thought boston was gettin a healthy everyday player and the braves would be lucky to get 100ip from sale according to some.
Yeah, it’s a little bit of a bummer because Nolan went to high school right around me so he’s a local superstar here in southern Orange County California!
As a huge nolan fan throughout the year ive noticed a lot of swings that looked worse than in the clip. hes just essentially thrown the bat at the ball so he doesn't strike out, at least that what it seems like. I miss the 21 and 22 nolan😢
Never touched 2nd. I'm familiar with in the area on plays that aren't close. But with challenges the runner should continue to 2nd then manager challenge the play. He would be called safe. The game has changed. You have to adapt.
The issue for fans - particularly not hustling to 1st base - is that these guys are paid millions of dollars to play baseball and they give up on the basics. Also, the fans pay a lot of hard earned money to see these guys play. They deserve to see the best effort every time.
@@atomic7141 one error, Leo Rivas who is not a major league starting infielder (JP is out rn). It’s just that error kept the inning alive, so he rest of the runs are unearned.
I do think Winn getting in there frustrated him but he's not the type that berates his teammates. Compounded with his frustrating season, he's compartmentalizing his frustration. As a Cardinals fan, I don't see any of those as lack of effort. Our fanbase has some excitable but ignorant characters. At times they can be insufferable. I don't think they remember the 90s. That said, the frustrations directed towards the mental approaches at the plate and on the mound are warrantable. I think the coaching can be at fault for those. They play to the analytics too much, and the front office encourages that. Hell, they fired Shildt because he wasn't a yes man that would but into their BS and be the fall guy when it inevitably failed. After getting swept by the Reds, we're back to .500 and hopefully after missing the playoffs we clean house. Hire Skip Schumacher and ditch Mo, Oli, Blake, and Ward...is it too late to bring back Luhnow for GM?
Nado is slow. Nado KNOWS he is slow. He's always lacked hustle on groundballs. As annoying as it is to see every night, he knows he isn't going to beat the play and im cool with that because sometimes its better to just be smart about things and he's still the best defensive 3rs baseman of my lifetime.
On the second clip. I understand your opinion on it but you if a 12 year did that he would get yelled at for not following through regardless of his circumstances.
I don't care if he's frustrated!!! How much is he frickin' paid?!?!? If I'm paying you $1000 to play, you'd better play your ass off!!! He is paid millions of dollars a year to loaf around and not give a sh**!!! Trade him before he ruins his value!!!
He's here because MO gave him assurances they would build winners. They lied to him. It's not about you get paid 35 million so shut up and hustle. His situation is the same as Colorado.
My dad always insisted I play hard no matter the situation; it just made wearing a cup difficult at times.
LMAOOO🤣🤣🤣🤣
Phenomenal

Agreed. He's frustrated that he's turned the corner.

Hey, Trevor! Thanks for breaking down my article and tweets. I appreciate you giving insight into everything!

He’s like 34…. No point in risking a pulled muscle that puts you out for 2 months for a 5% better chance of beating out a double play.
you know he's never been fast, at all, right? he's 33 and like 7th percentile in sprint speed. Get a grip lol
Cardinal fan here.. we all hate mozelak and marmol and we just are sick of their bs and arenado is the scapegoat
Speak for yourself.
The fuck you talking about cards fans booo Mo on opening day.. and no one likes his lackey Marmol

So sad as a White Sox fan to see Sale and Cease in the Cy Young convo (super happy for them but what could have been😔)
I really enjoyed this Mariners vs Tigers series.

The 2nd clip, 3rd base play, is more of a confusion/miscommunication that happens. He's right near Winn there. That's not lack of effort
Man, the Skubal vs Kirby game was a blowout.

busting your ass down the line on every routine play to infielders just isnt how you play a full season.. especially in your 30s lol
Yeah skubal vs Kirby was super awesome trev… great.
I think the pitcher was in Nolan's natural defensive zone on that play. Just the way I see it.
Kelso Highs finest 🤙🏼
Emmanuel Clase just got 4 saves in 4 days and leads all of MLB in wRC+. Dude needs to be mentioned for AL CY
lmao
Nolan was sold on his extension by promises Mo made him that just haven't come to fruition, and I think it wears on him at times.
100
It's not about extension it's about building a winner. He's in the same spot as in Colorado
@@chrischar9428 Building a winning team was the promise Mo made to Arenado. And he's resigned to it not happening.
5 adds in under 9 minutes? Awesome!
4:20 that ball should still be Winn's though. he has the way better arm and on defense is showing better numbers.
Lol watching this after Kirby gave up 7-8 runs to the tigers
11 runs (6 earned). Manager should've replaced him after the 3rd.

I'm sorry you had to go to that Kirby v Skubal game
2:36 I was at this game I was so confused cause it was just weird cause it looked like they let it drop on purpose
Trev are you hyped for Tarkov wipe? patch 15 looks sick 🔥
Lol. Lugo not considered now after he just got TORCHED by my team the Twins on Tuesday.
After last night, I think Kirby agrees that Gilbert should be ahead of him.

This is the majors. You don't try to beat out a play you have no chance beating out, and risk pulling a muscle for nothing. It happens.
cool well he's not 12 (((:
The first clip he showed i have seen devers do that same thing.
every player does this lol
