    I have a question: As far as I've seen, the large white clamshell fairings aren't present on the Crew Dragon. The Capsule already has enough protection, and plus, the oblong fairings are only used on uncrewed rockets, especially uncrewed Falcon-9's. Anyways, great video!

    B+. Great work on the animation, but some work needs to be done on the actual process of the flight. Such as.. the boost-back for Stage 1 was omitted, and then you mixed the whole "fairing separation" with a Crew Dragon launch. You're about 85% of the way there. An update to this video would be nice.

      They recover the payload covers very often with ships, the cover halfs have parachutes and splashdown in the ocean. The second stage with it's engine make what's called as a deorbit burn, so they end up in a trayectory that makes the second stage get destroyed by reentry heat.

    My dumb question of the day is why no parachutes? Seems like cheap and easy to install including the repacking mechanism.

    • @OSKS-PJ4556
      @OSKS-PJ4556 6 місяців тому

      I am not sure if you are asking for the booster or Dragon, the first stage booster doesn't use a parachute because, an orbital booster is going to be heavier than normal crew capsules that use parachutes to splash don because they are larger and heavier making them harder for parachutes to slow don and could at least cause small structural damages, even though they can be small they can lead to the great failures even after refurbishment, also space x ants to go more precise and reduce recovery cost too, so they came up with this idea to literally bring it back to the landing pad near the launch pad so the recovery process is limited and cost effective, using parachutes means you need/must splash don in the ocean to at least reduce the damage caused to the integrity of the booster, so you need sophisticated attachment and pulling mechanism and a boat/recovery ship to pull it back to base and i hope you understand ho much it would cost, so using the remaining fuel and making a simple yet state of the art grid fins to slow down and also redirect your booster and land is much easier and cost effective!!! 😊😊😊😊👍👍👍👍, For more you can check out MY channel!!

    question: why does we use liquid oxygen as oxidizer when we have plenty of oxygen here on earth... i get that theres no oxygen in space but why not dedicate a whole new stage for earth.. like lets say 5-6k meters u can still push it to hyothetical limit 8 .. that way it will cost less on manufacturing and cost of oxidizer

    • @thomasvanwely
      @thomasvanwely 3 роки тому +1

      Because liquid oxygen is about 1000 times more dense than gass oxygen. You get more with less volume.
      + above 20km you don't have much oxygen, and how would you get the oxygen poor atmosphere in an engine? It's rocket science for a reason.

      of the ground not 20km....that like 6 burj khalifa. if its a small two staged rocket attach to 2 rockets that doesnt have a oxidizer or small amount as a support.. that way that 2 side rocket will break in the 5-6km and the 2 stage rocket will continue its journey....yeah.. you also need to build another 2 smaller rocket but given that you can less in oxidizer...its a win win... if it can work...
