I had known and heard him live in Delhi a few times. He was quite old and almost blind by then. His daughter Rani di was a friend of the family and lived very close to our house. He used to come for extended visits and some senior musicians came to meet him. I witnessed his interactions with Amjad Ali Khansaheb and Beenkar Salamat Ali Khansaheb. A wonderful humble man. He sang Dhrupad and Dhammar also.

I remember a story told by my father. As they stood outside the door. Allaudin Khan sahib emerging outside side and remarking 'ustadji ki kafi kafi ney hoga'.not relevant but ustad Allaudin khan saying that about him. Shows his remarkable versatility.

This dosent sound like a rudra been. It's probably a seni rebab, especially considering the absence of the chikari strings.

Hello, this is Beena and not Seni Rabab. A Seni Rabab has gut strings and unable to produce meends like this one.. and this is clearly a sound of metal strings.
Anyway I have his Seni Rabab recordings and can upload them so that you can identify the difference.
Finally there was a 'naming problem' or confusion or namesake at that time so what you are calling Rudra Been is actually what he used to call his Rabab.
