Only after watching the video a couple of times did I realise that THE LADY SINGING *IS* THE WOLF. The lady never shares the screen with the wolf. But replaces it in scenes. Hence the howling chants. This is so magical the hidden meaning. The Woman's singing starts only when the WOLF enters the screen. I Just noticed that . When I try to sing like her I feel the wolf in me come out with those howls. It's true.

An impressive work of art. I particularly enjoy the little bits of throat singing using abrupt inspiration of air and quickly exhaling; sounds alot like Arctic indigenous throat singing, not much Sami-related but more Inuit, from Greenland. Awesome!
This is the first time that I have listened to a song until it brought me to tears. This song brings out a part of me that feels so utterly trapped by today's world. Trapped by the constant grind. Trapped by the hoards of uncaring people. Trapped by the endless lines of cars moving by, unaware, unknowing, uncaring, anonymous. Trapped by the demands and expectations of family, government, and society. It feels like a wolf caught in a cage, desperately gnawing and clawing at the bars, despite broken claws, shattered teeth, and bleeding gums. It wants out. It *needs* to be free. *I NEED TO BE FREE.*
I’ve been struggling with religion throughout my life, always felt a strong connection to paganism. It’s what my forefathers believed, this song has been stuck in my head for a few days, and yesterday on Wednesday ( I’ve learned is Odin’s day) I had a dream, and from researching and talking to several people who helped interpret it, I realized Odin finally answered my pleas and he showed me Yggdrasil. And today I finally am at peace with myself and my views. Thank you Wardruna for giving me that. And Thank you Odin.
Praise Odin. If you are at peace with your beliefs then no one can insist you are insane. Myself more of a antitheist leaning atheist, I still respect a person of belief, if they radiate that they are at peace with their faith.

Love how this builds all the way to the end, and then just drops off. It's a beautiful track - deeply spiritual and moving. The interplay between the two voices, the little nuances of breath and an almost throat singing like element - simple perfection/ And that wolf - she is beautiful!
My ancestors’ spirits have awoken inside me when I began to listen to Wardruna. We, Rus(Russian), are tightly connected to Scandinavia. Our Gods are alike and so are spirits. Wardruna brings an important bit in our society that lacks memory of the great culture, which ones was dominate in the whole Europe. It gladdens me that many people start to realize the importance of spiritual freedom. But also it is sad that people in Scandinavia seem to forgot their own culture, which is quite powerful and underestimated. I hope with my whole heart that one day Scandinavia will remember that their ancestors had an extraordinary, astonishing and exiting cultural values! Skål brothers and sisters!
Swede here, I love the RUS people and so does everyone I know. Its just the swedish government that is anti-russian, not the people, they don't speak for us, they hate us and everything that is european. Don't believe their lies.
Yeah, absolutely true. To be honest, our countries have forgotten major part of old culture, which is quite sad, cause Slavic folk is very deep and interesting. But I hope, that there will be more people like Wardruna, also in our nations, to revive beautiful myth back to life Skål from Ukraine!
I've noticed in some Nordic music there sounds like throat singing which I usually associate with Mongolian/Tuvan music. I thought I heard a couple seconds in this song as well. Pardon my use of very generalized terms. Many similarities throughout world music. It's fascinating to listen to.
The fact is that I can't stop listening Wardruna. When I'm in shower, when I'm drawing, when I do sport, when I'm playing videogames, whatever I'm doing when I start listening Wardruna It's for 10 hours nonstop. The feelings I have with Grá, Helvegen, Solringen, Fehu, Rotlaust tre fell and many other is at the same time happiness, sadness, peace. Thank you Wardruna for these moment. I love warduna. When the world is kicking me in the nuts and I feel like I am about to lose it their music calms me back down and centers me. This is not just music, this is the magic of the old world
Some thoughts. The song is named Grá - Grey - and an central instrument is the percussion bones. It's possible this has a intended connection. In old Norwegian culture the wolf has been called by the eufenism Grábein - Greyleg. The word bein means both leg and bone. Maybe the instrument was chosen because of this? Nice song.
Grey is also a word some people use in reference to Odin - Old Grey, Grey Beard (Hárbarðr), so on. The lyrics suggest, imo, that we're losing touch with the teachings he gave us, we're disconnected with the knowledge he sacrificed for. We're destroying ourselves and the world we live on - we broke the ring... and yet, our ancestors are still alive, they still live through us, we still remember things we are not supposed to remember... all we need to do is to reconnect with our true path.
2:13 instant goosebumps! I can listen to that for the rest of my life and I will never get tired of it. The wolf is my Spirit Animal. I’ve always felt a deep connection to them since I was a little girl, and I don’t even live in a country were wolves live. My heart aches whenever I know they are being hunted and mistreated. People who live in the northern countries in America or Europe, please, please, protect them!!
This song spoke to my soul and all my ancestors from Germanic tribes.
Thank you, WARDRUNA!! 🙏🏻💙💙💙🐺
I feel the same about wolves. Don't forget it's the southern and eastern part of Europe who has the biggest wolf population in Europe (if you don't count Russia). Anyway they indeed need protection.
You know you're a badass when you have a therapy wolf.
:) cheers!:)
I will have to tell that to my dad. He does (we’re Native American and Norwegian).
I agree, my cokerspaniel turned into a wolf after listening to this...

The power in this song is immense, it awakens something in my soul that has been long forgotten 💔
Old Grey…
I recall the ring before it broke…
Your song stirs something deep within
Like chords pulling straight from memory
I can’t find the words, they still remain veiled
Yet I know it is old, I know that it’s forgotten
I remember when you roamed freely
I remember when we roamed together
I remember us before our paths got separated
I remember the ring before it broke
Always wary about you, and you about me
Always wary about me, and I about you
You may run to my forests
Roam freely in my mountains
Lead your pack to my valleys
Let us restore the ring
I shall sing you safe on your way
I shall sing you safely home
Wow , awakens a memory in my soul of us humans living amongst the predators living together hunting together as family
The lyrics are also in the drop arrow in the description.

Never disappointed ❤️ Wardruna speaks to my soul ✨
I listend to this song often when I was working in Iceland. I did not know where I want to be and the end of this song always put me close to tears. I just came back from my first vacation in Norway and I believe I found it. I believe that the land of the fjords shall be my home.
It's true.
Yeah, she represents the spirit of the wolf I think. Then wolf and man sing in harmony.

An impressive work of art. I particularly enjoy the little bits of throat singing using abrupt inspiration of air and quickly exhaling; sounds alot like Arctic indigenous throat singing, not much Sami-related but more Inuit, from Greenland. Awesome!
I really enjoy your videos as well. Your expertise is always appreciated by me.
I noticed and appreciated the Inuit style of throat singing as well. Very impressive and unexpected. Cheers from Canada.
The legend, Arith Harger, has spoken
Ora ora, nos encontramos aqui, my friend!!
From hedby Danmark some historical text describe the Viking music also with the use as a deep throat singing,
This is the first time that I have listened to a song until it brought me to tears.

Love how this builds all the way to the end, and then just drops off.
It's a beautiful track - deeply spiritual and moving. The interplay between the two voices, the little nuances of breath and an almost throat singing like element - simple perfection/
And that wolf - she is beautiful!

There is a reason why most norwegian pulls more towards russians than americans. Dont believe the politicians

But I hope, that there will be more people like Wardruna, also in our nations, to revive beautiful myth back to life

Yes I agree, very similar. I also love native American culture and men are sooo beautiful handesome. 😍
I've noticed in some Nordic music there sounds like throat singing which I usually associate with Mongolian/Tuvan music. I thought I heard a couple seconds in this song as well. Pardon my use of very generalized terms. Many similarities throughout world music. It's fascinating to listen to.
Yes, I hear some throat singing too. Cool
The Norse apparently visited the northern America's at some point. Perhaps they learned some stuff from the Native Americans?

Grá also means Love in Irish
Intelligent thoughts, you norwegians aren't stupid all the time it seems :-) love from Sweden
German call Wolf a Graurock gray skirt
No wonder as wolves are going extinct in Scandinavia. Time to return the Old Grey

A friend texted me your name "WARDRUNA" and I looked you up on iTunes. What I heard immediately spoke deeply into my very being.
