The Canuck’s goalie coach needs a raise after this series! 😅😂
Ian Clark
He got a massive raise recently, basically was handed a blank cheque.
Silovs is no joke. He was the MVP of the 2023 IIHF World Championships, just the fifth goaltender to be named MVP since 1999, backstopping Latvia over the US in the Bronze medal game. In that tourney you could see he was fearless. And he has a great attitude. He's havin fun out there and rises under pressure.
@@tor2886 looks like it's paying off so far.
@@frankmarshal7767 yeah kid is sick, 23 and a fuckin stud out the gates. Betman is licking his lips realizing that 2 canadian teams are facing off in the 2nd round
just so one of those 2 canadian team gets fucked over by the refs in round 3
Wouldn't he be happier if one of them was American though? Like Nashville 🤔 Go Canucks go!
@@MrSupahLMFAO If they play their best and don't take bad penalties, then no matter what bettman, the refs or the rest of the league tries, they won't be able to stop the Canadian teams. We must prove them ALL wrong by playing the right way and always remember to NEVER get overconfident and cocky, cuz that will be our downfall like previous years...
It happened in 2022….
The real one doing the lick lipping is Rogers/Sportsnet, thinking about the ratings and ticket sales they'll get.
The reason why the Canucks didn’t score goals is because the Preds were playing insanely gritty, air tight hockey all series. As a Canucks fan I’m relieved we got through the Preds because I considered them one of the better teams in the West at the end of season.
I completely agree, every single preds player was blocking shots and getting in every shooting lane they possibly could. And even when we were able to get it thru, Saros was there making save after save, so ya to say I’m relieved is an understatement
Exactly, you can't judge Canucks offense based on this series, if oilers played the preds it may also be a low scoring tight games
I don't know about that! LA allowed the 3rd fewest goals in regular season and is playing the all-hated TRAP defense.
The Oilers dismantled that defense!
That was a part of it. Another factor was having our 3rd, 4th, and 5th leading goal scorers putting donuts.
@@tamatb regular season means nothing, Jets allowed the fewest goals of anyone and just got dismantled.
People who don't watch the game and just wait for goals call this game boring. Vey thrilling game with lots of back and forth.
Hats off to the preds for a close series
Go Canucks!
I agree! This game was anything but boring!
Both goalies were outstanding tonight
Completely agree. This was a game for true fans of the sport to love every minute of.
As a Preds fan who was there , this was an entertaining af game. Absolutely crushing personally, but great first year under Andy for us. Good luck Canucks.
Tons of respect to the Preds team and fans from Vancouver. It was a hell of a battle for every inch of the ice, that will serve the Canucks well in Playoff experience.
Canucks fan here but preds played great gave us good run for money
Nothing but respect for Nashville. Such a gritty series. Pure playoff hockey. Great effort from all involved. Look forward to future matchups as both teams’ playoff windows are opening.
Preds bros are chill, good luck next year
GG Nashville was quite a challenge in this that a fun series better luck next year.

@@nathanbork2479No, from North Metro.
I cannot believe how many people are quoting statistics like they exist in a vacuum. Nashville played one of the best defensive series I've seen in like forever. And the Canucks matched them. Low-scoring series with lots of energy. Lots of control of chances. And great goaltending. Edmonton is incapable of being a defensive juggernaut, so either they play shootouts, or, if Vancouver can play stout defense, they WIN by having a superior structure.
And the Preds are/were very physical which probably took some of the Canucks players off their game
I love this kind of hockey more than the high scoring stuff. The tension throughout this game was awesome.
its funny as hell because coming into the post season people were worried that the canucks couldnt play low event hockey, now theyre worried they cant play high event. We just cant win. all season long its been luck this and unfair that and "theyll come down to earth soon enough". Let them i say, let them underestimate us all the way.

Honestly need to give a lot of credit to Nashville for being a huge reason the canucks we're not scoring a ton, between saros being a wall and the rest of the team blocking a ton of shots it was bound to be this tight. Edmonton will be tough, but as a canucks fan im not scared right now

absolutely fantastic series and i am so excited to watch edmonton vs vancouver. I’m not overly concerned the goaltending difference between seros and skinner is well huge and i have no doubt the canucks will step up more on the defensive end as well
The Oilers are a vastly better team offensively than the Preds, especially on the PP. I would be a little worried about your goaltending if I was a Canucks fan.
@@vinceschryver5676 but their goaltending and defense is miles worse than the preds so hand in hand
@@King-03530I mean skinner and the oilers locked down their series after game 2, though Vancouver definitely has better d and goaltending. Will be a fun series that could go either way
The Canucks aren’t facing a wildcard team team this round, their beat up and playing a third string backup. Oil in 5.
The goaltending difference between Saros and Skinner is huge? You sure about that? Pretty much identical numbers this season and playoffs.

This is why I love playoff hockey
I like how people are just writing off the Canucks against the Oilers, giving Nashville no respect at all. As a Canucks fan they really tested our courage and it was a close, yes boring, defensive series. The Predators simply smothered our offense, because thats their style of play. We handled Edmonton easily during the season, and they definitely dont have the same defensive brick wall.
I recognize its playoff hockey and this series will likely be extremely close (and entertaining) but to write us off completely will make it even sweeter.
EDIT: 5-4 comeback victory after going down 4-1 in game 1. Oilers D is just as good my ass. Mc David shut out. Even if we dont win the series, we're making Edmonton work for it.
mcdavid is so overrated it's disgusting.

Nucks PK looking pretty good… I don’t know this feeling….
our PK is at 90% ek... also you need to check shot attempts. This series was classic low event hockey. We absolutely can score. especially against the pylons called the edmonton oilers defence
As a preds fan who was there, I hated to see it end like that, especially without us scoring at least once, but it was still a fantastic game and both teams played hard and as good as could be.
That first period was absolutely BONKERS. So much back and forth.
I think it will be a series of attrition. The Canucks have been scoring when it counts and if they can rally with their goalies to keep Edmonton at bay then they have a really good chance of moving on.
Silovs was insane! But props to Saros, he was definitely not the reason Preds lost. All the young guys learning hockey, make sure you seal the empty netters...
Both goalies were at the top of their game tonight.
Great game!
Both goalies were at the top of their game tonight.
On the flip side Saros could be the reason they lost. He couldn't come up with a save in a few crucial moments in this series. Doesn't help when Nashville couldn't get any offense going but still
Me and my dad where yelling so loud it was so exiting when he scored
No complaints, an all Canadian match up in the Payoffs? I’m there
Winner gets to lose to the Avs.
A waste of 28 days vs A waste of 42 days
And even if by slim chance the Avs fell apart, neither team could beat the Canes, Cats, or Rags for the cup.
Both teams’ first round playoff success is due to exceptionally weak opponents.
The winner of this series will be decided by who doesn’t suck the most.
It will be entertaining, but ultimately pointless-just like the Canadian second round matchup of 2022, whoever won was just going to lose to the Avs.

Sad day 🥺
As canucks are much better at 2 way play and are a team that luvs to finish their checks , I will still give it to the canucks
Canucks swept the oilers in the regular season, I expect the same to happen in the playoffs
Each series is different. Can't project how team play or perform from previous series.
The Canucks lack of offense have more to do with how tight Nashville plays and clog up the d zone.
Oilers have natural advantage matching up against the kings 1-3-1 system with their speed.
Canucks offense will be better with less stingy Oilers defense and Vancouver have been able to weather Oiler's speed with their system a bit better than the Kings.
Oilers will have the decisive advantage on the pp. This is gonna be if Vancouver's pk can withhold against Oilers pp and how the games are officiated.
A reason why Oilers have trouble the deeper they get into the playoffs is the that the whistle gets put away more neutering Oilers pp usefulness.
the pk for the canucks is good.... but we'll jus have to see
I'm a diehard Nucks fan but that analysis is bit of cherry picking. Suffocating low event hockey was a factor but so was having our 3rd, 4th, and 5th leading goal scorers putting up donuts. Too many of us think the offense will just come to life once the ice opens up a bit. That's not guaranteed. Edm will be a tough out, we're the underdogs in this one. Our real advantage is overall depth (when all four lines are rolling) and the fact we've played desperation hockey in the 1st round. Also no mention of our anemic PP. There are holes we need to plug. A lot of fans getting a bit overconfident, verging on arrogance. Stay humble.
@Xyy2387 That analysis is jot about being over confident but more countering the notion I guess you and Oilers fan think this is gonna be a cake walk for them.
I will not be surprised Oilers wins this but not in 4 games as many claims.
Let me guess you are a fan that thought we won't win the division or get pass the Preds?
@irtwiaos You like to assume a lot, eh? Show me where I predicted a cake walk for Edm? I predicted we not only make the playoffs but potentially go deep depending on matchups. Been saying for years, we have the spine, 1C, 2C, 1D, and G to make some noise. But whatever, keep assuming and stop with the strawman. Here's my ACTUAL prediction if you're curious, and this is just my GUT feeling so chill out. Based on how this year has played out and where the teams are at right now... We either lose this one fairly handily, this DOES NOT mean a sweep, you can squeeze out a win here and there yet still have no business in the games we lose. These things are not mutually exclusive. OR...early season Canucks shows up to the party and scores almost at will, while MCD is completely neutralized by Miller and Co, sending the team and fanbase into a tailspin, Added to that, they have problems beating our "third string" goalie, further exacerbating the spiral. I'm literally banking on the latter with 1k on the Nucks at +220 Vegas odds. Which ANY Nucks fans should jump on if they're legitimately confident, they're giving us 2 to 1 FFS. As for the Nashville series, I was wrong. I predicted we would win fairly easily. That was NOT the case.
Ye
I'm a canucks fan through and through but to be realistic, I'll be surprised if we can keep up with Edmonton especially with the way the superstars of Edmonton have been playing.
Yeah good goaltending probably won't make much difference against their superstars, lol.
Ever heard of championship defence? Canucks can't quite keep up offensively with the oil but our defence game is strrrrong. Unlike their porous one.
@@erickpalacios8904 I pray
im really confused by this comment. like really confused. the preds arguably had the best defense in the entire league. Canucks offense has dominated all season. You need to get your head out of your ass dude and see the writing on the wall
@@NK73080 The season is not indicative of how teams will perform in the playoffs. It's a hard reset for every team (mostly). Yes the Canucks' offense dominated in the early season, but it fell off a bit after the All-star break. I just don't 100% believe the Canucks will be able to fend off all the shots Edmonton will throw at them even though their defensive game has gotten considerably better in the playoffs. But after all, goals win games. I mean look at the Kings. They play one of the most defensive games and yet they still end up losing to Edmonton. As long as the Canucks play with discipline and don't take dumb penalties, they should be on even footing (hopefully) against them. If my head is truly up my ass and the writing on the wall you speak of is them winning well, I hope your right.
different team . Edmonton wont get past a team with a defence that we have .
it will be a run but i think the canucks will get alot more goals against the oilers verse a defensive minded team that had solid players but not goal scorers. who is the goalie in edmonton?
we got 3 all star goalie plus some other non padded players that can do things!
The Oilers have played well but i think everyone underestimated the Preds defensive unit. They blocked an incredible amount of shots. I dont think the oilers have the same defensive and goaltending capabilities that the preds do. Oilers has insane offence tho, thats what we should be scared of.
Just realised we have the same bracket, except, even though I am a Vegas fan, I think Vancouver will win the CF.
I think saying the Canucks have had struggles with their "big guns" is being disingenuous to nashville. I'm a canucks fan and holy fuck man they were stifling. Every night they blocked like 2-3 times the shots we actually got on the net. Edmonton will NOT be capable of playing the level of defence nashville exhibited, that whole backline plus saros was very impressive.
Only time will tell, obviously the oilers are a better team than nashville, but I really don't expect the Canucks to play them the same way we played nashville.
I’d be a fan of a Canadian Stanley cup finals
When you look at the quality of first round opponents , the Oilers had it easier IMO . Nashville is a very tight checking team with a good goalie . With the way the Oilers handled LA it was obvious what team is getting better as each season comes and goes and what team is stagnating . The Oilers are not Nashville and the Canucks aren't LA . With so much scoring ability on both teams I'm wondering if we can expect more of a series of what goalie can make the timely saves and who has the actual better defense to bring them through the series . We all know what Skinner's past record is , what we don't know is what the goalie situation in Vancouver is atm . IF Vancouver can contain the the Oilers scoring , they have at least a good shot at winning the series . MY best guess before the series starts is Oilers in 6 .
Damn

There's something special about the Vancouver Canucks. They keep Winning in Winners fashion. I think they beat the Oilers in 6. I also think some of the games could be lopsided in favor of Vancouver. In the regular season it seemed like Vancouver knows how to play Edmonton. My friend is Edmonton fan and she's not paying close attention to Hockey but it's her second team after Winnipeg and I told her that I felt like Predators would have been a better match up for Oilers. With that said maybe Oilers will prove me wrong and will avenge their embarrassing butt whoopings in the regular season by Vancouver. It's looking more and more like this is Vancouver's year to me. I am by no means an expert in NHL hockey.
the league wants another matchup of mcdavid vs mackinnon, so I'm fully expecting it to be a one sided officiating bonanza for the soilers.
they are going to get away with the dirtiest, most egregious garbage and the Canucks are going to get called for EVERY little infraction. watch for it!
3 of those losses were very early in the season and the Oilers were an extremely different looking team back then. 4th loss is a better thing to look at, but it's hard to say how much of a difference a lack of Mcdavid (took a break after they clinched) made in that game.
As an Oilers fan I'm just excited to have a new potential rival besides Calgary Flames and LA Kings. Flames are kind of out for a while, and Kings are looking like they're out for a bit too. Knights are just boring, and Seattle looks like they need another year or something.

Love your videos but i diagree with your takes here. You didnt mention how all Nashville did was put 5 guys infront of Saros. No wonder the canucks had trouble generating offense. The canucks also couldnt run and gun because Nashville clogged the neutral zone. The Oilers do the opposite of that. I feel the canucks will match up better with the run and gun style.
the whole "canucks dominated the oilers in the regular season" thing is pretty misleading to rely on for predicting this round - I'm not saying the oilers are going to win it or anything, but 3 of the 4 games were when the oilers were the worst team in the league (losing to the SHARKS, etc), and the last game was a 1-goal game before the EN where the oilers were playing without mcdavid
