The best thing about Kirby lore is how dang consistent every bit of detail is. A cute example is when Kirby destroyed Meta Knight Halberd and sink it into the orange ocean in Kirby Super Star, the airship is not seen again UNTIL a couple games later in Kirby Squeak Squad where you fight Meta Knight in Secret Ocean. During that Battle he finally raised the Halberd from the ocean mid fight implying that he's been trying to fix it ever since and you use the newly fixed ship to transition into the final level. The fact that small detail like that is given so much attention is really cool!
Will someone explain to me why a franchise about a walking pink ball has such extensive, complicated and DARKER THAN THE REALM OF DARKNESS lore like this?
@@Prototype-357 I mean if you want a real answer: it's because the current director (Shinya Kumazaki) loves eldritch concept and art. He also likes to reference previous games in the series not directed by him since he's a Kirby fan himself and injected his own backstory and lore to the Kirbo games he loves.
@@hafizhaekal1352 I find it really cool how Kumazaki grew up playing Kirby and had the same hype reaction to Nightmsre as a lot of kids probably did as well. That could mean that the next Kuma is growing up with Kirby as we speak
Kirby sees something mean happening, and stops it. He does not care if it's a greedy penguin stealing food or an eldritch apocalypse coming to pass, Kirby will just stop it from happening with little to no differentiating. Stolen cake and worlds being taken over are about equal sins to Kirby.
The reason kirby lore works so well is because you're never FORCED to interact with it(except maybe in the finale of Star Allies). It's always in optional dialoige, bonus modes, and/or hidden in the flipping pause screen. It fits with Kirby's "easy to learn, but harder under the surface" design philosophy.
And that’s why I like it more than Kingdom Hearts’ Lore. Where that franchise’s complex Lore is required to understand what’s going on, Kirby Lore is all about “I may not know exactly what’s going on, but I can still enjoy this game to the fullest. If I want to know more, I’ll pause the game (Except in Forgotten Land, where the Lore is in Figurines).”
As also pointed out in a video going over Kirby’s lore, it makes sense that the lore is not necessary. The player is interested in the lore, but Kirby isn’t. Kirby is a good eldritch powerhouse who wants to save his friends and the games are about seeing him overcome the latest threat, but us knowing the stakes is why Kirby has gained deeper meaning since Return to Dream Land.
@@JJ_R If Kirby were a much more talkative character like Sora, did you think that kind of lore hinting would work? I kinda feel the reason that Kirby games can work with lore system like that is Kirby doesn’t actually care for the lore. Kirby just wants simple things
@@Azure70 Kirby sees the straight line to the goal, everyone else sees the scenic route. If Kirby talked in the games, it’d complicate things too much.
Oh yeah, additional lore for Queen Sectonia of Triple Deluxe: The English version of Sectonia Soul’s battle says Kirby must grant her “Eternal Beauty Sleep” (thinly veiled euphemism for death) since she’s too far gone and a shell of her former self. In the Japanese version of the battle, not much is changed from the English version, aside from one important fact: it’s narrated in the first person. Sectonia *herself* is asking Kirby to kill her, she’s begging for a suicide by cop. RATED E FOR EVERYONE MY GUY!
I always think of this poem listening to Taranza’s hidden rockabilly theme in Star Allies: Roses are Red Yippee Kai Yay My Girfriend is dead What the fuck Kirbeh?
My favorite thing about Kirby Lore is how Kirby is the only one who does not care about the deeper meaning of everything and just wants to live life and protect his friends.
the dichotomy of kirby: Kirby: *justw ants to eat cake* Villain: *IS A BEING OF PURE HATRED AND DESPAIR WHO WISHES TO BRING RUIN TO ALL* Kirby: but my cake tho
@@sarafontanini7051 that was literally the reason for kirby doing stuff in squeak squad. Daroach stole his cake and kirby opened a chest that he thought had his cake in it. It housed Supernova
the giant shadow god? oh, him again. the melting demons? you wonder how they trace back to zero. giant monsters and skull-faced abominations? neat, buisness as usu.... did i just hear fluttering wings?
Meta knight hears the fluttering of wings, has half a second of war flashbacks, takes kirby's phone, calls the warp star, shoves everyone onto it, and leaves saying, "nope nope nope nope nope nope nope nope nope nope nope nope nope nope nope nope nope nope nope nope *NOOOOOOOOOOOPE!!*
FORGOTTEN LAND SPOILERS Especially now that it’s showed up again, after being seen in the beginning of the latest game. He will return, and bring doom upon the most powerful entity he can find.
@ZE Brigitte Yes and it has hurt me for I now question what the fuck he is going to pull I mean sense he only appears during or after some world-universal stuff happens how would the next game play out to make him a villian
The two ends of the Kirby noob spectrum: RTGame (“Kirby’s just a little marshmallow, I’ll just hop on in to Forgotten Land”) vs Nico (“Lol Kirby lore can’t be *that* complex right? I’ll just watch a lore vid for shits and giggles”) and they both lead to mental annihilation.
Thanks for the heads up. I saw a bit of the beginning of RTGame’s run of Forgotten Land, then I saw a bit of the end. All the time that he’s screaming “This horrid abomination is in a Kirby game, for goodness sake!”, I’m just wondering how many people told him either “Welcome to Kirby!”, “Should we tell him?”, or “I remember _my_ first Kirby game…”. I wanted to say the 3rd one.
@@JJ_R he gets to the credits completely mind fecked and he kinda snaps into semi tears when he sees comments saying "that's normal" proceeding with him crying "WHYYYY?!" and that was hilarious watching an adult man suffer their first kirby lore and go insane in a matter of 15 20 min xD
I don't know what happened to me, I don't remember ever being traumatized by the main villains, or even seeing them as unfitting... I'm kind of afraid to consider the chances of these memories being locked as a cope mechanism, because I really like the franchise nowadays. :c
Once they hear the backstory about haltman they'll never look at the series the same ever again. Aaaaaand once they hear about star allies HA they'll never be the same again
Actually, Susie's situation in Star Allies is actually a Mistranslation. It states in the Japanese version that "She'll provide happy lives and family harmony with the power of science, and under such a philosophy, will exterminate the "savages," and makes no specific mention of her continuing Haltmann's plans."
"Exterminate the savages" sounds like continuing Haltmann's work to me. Savages are what he calls the people on Dreamland, and probably every race on other planets they mechanise. It is highly unlikely Nintendo mistranslated so badly that Susie's description gives the literal exact opposite meaning.
@@Reshkrom not to defend Susie's actions but Kirby's games often have translation errors like that, eg; Imprisoned Waddle Dees Figurine in the Japanese version say the Waddle Dees tried their hardest to get out but no avail, and in the English version it says they're too sad to move
Yes Nico...The Sun and Moon is an actual character in Kirby. You fight them as BOSS FIGHTS in multiple Kirby games. Marx basically told lies to them, make them both angry and throw hands againts each other. Marx then lies to Kirby that he needs to summon an intergalactic wish granting star to make them be chill again.
It's actually kinda... more complicated than that. First of all, in one of the artworks on the twitter we see Mr Shine and Mr Bright... next to the SUN. Because of this, I'm not sure Mr Shine and Bright are the sun and moon, but simply creatures that have the ability to change the time of day etc. I DO however believe that the 'sun and moon' from Super Star ARE Mr. Shine and Bright.
My favorite part of Kirby lore is how despite how convoluted it is, Kirby doesn't have a f*cking clue about almost any of it. He's just like, "Big scary thing is threatening friends! I'm gonna stop the big scary thing!"
I have seem this quote elsewhere but i think it fits "Kirby doesnt care about your greater purpose, any motives you have are beyond his understanding, but he can understand that you are making his friends sad, and that is all he needs to know"
The funny thing here is the lore was pretty much made without the games strictly telling you it was a complete story, you could easily go for the show story and just think Kirby is a really young star warrior that woke up before maturing into a complete warrior, but when you tie up all of the games and little details together things become incredibly dark. And that's not even adding the new stuff from the forgotten land.
The star warrior stuff is only from the anime which is a separate continuity from the games. We have no definitive answer on what exactly Kirby is or where he came from outside of vague hints and fan theories. The only thing the games officially say regarding Kirby's origin is that he appeared after "arriving on a spring breeze".
@@MEGAmangaman I don't think you pay attention to my comment. I literally say you could just see the show and assume that's just how it is, but if you take the lore from the games it gets a lot darker. Not saying "Right back at ya" is canon, I'm saying it would not be weird for people new to the series to think it's the canon.
While also being kinda optimistic since Kirby is basically an unstoppable force of good and all these horrifying eldritch monsters suddenly become not so scary. Because meh, it's just one of those days that end in a 'y'.
Fun fact! Galacta knight is officially sealed outside of continuity. Thats why every time you fought him up until the butterfly, it was the 'first time'. Also, there's a fun list of things that quote 'actually happened in Kirby canon'. Theres a reason people have dubbed smash world of light as "Kirby mildly unusual thursday"
i think the smash games is where kirby and other characters go to catch a break of fighting villains and ETC(like mario calling bowser to mario kart as is said in paper mario color splash) this makes especial sense with kirby since fighting eldritch beings must be cansative and i imagine like galeem showing up and kirby is like:ow shit here we go again
I would seriously recommend the series _Kirby Lore_ by WoolieVS. He narrates the series as if it were an eldritch horror story, without getting any of the details wrong. Kirby is just that kind of game...
And another thing: HAL Labs loves to throw in cheeky references to their company name in the games. There are the hidden HAL rooms of course but within the lore there’s the HALtmann works company, the HALcandrans where Magolor is from, and the three companies from Forgotten Land, Holine, Alivel, and Lighttron, spell out HAL if you take the first letter of their names.
Lab Discovera is actually Hal Labs. Read the text on the wall before going up to fight Fecto Elfilis and you'll see that they straight up say that building is HAL Laboratory.
Not to mention the constant mention of the number 86, which is a joke in Japan because the numbers 8 and 6, “Hachi” and “Roku” sounds like Hal’s Japanese pronunciation “Haru”
Fun fact: susie's star allies go description is actually lost in translation. according to the kirby fanmade wiki: The English version states that, following in the footsteps of President Haltmann before her, Susie remains undeterred in advancing her mission of mechanizing new planets and people alike. However, the original Japanese version of her Guest Star ???? Star Allies Go! description instead states that she'll provide happy lives and family harmony with the power of science, and under such a philosophy, will exterminate the "savages," and makes no specific mention of her continuing Haltmann's plans. also, two more things: void's description in soul melter EX kinda leans towards it meaning that it's KIRBY'S ORIGIN, since it's description says "Void takes his first steps toward a new age. In place of tyrannical rage, will he find... naptime? Gentle breezes? Treats? He may even dream again... a dream of friends reunited!" and it's battle theme uses a sad rendition of green greens at one point....it's mostly just specilation though...it might not actually mean anything but alot of it makes sense if you put the pieces together, especially since when you beat it it dies with a SMILE ON IT'S FACE, and because after you beat it you unlock the retro kirby skin....the design that void is very similar to... Also iirc the bit About morpho knights design is actually a coincidence.
granted, the fact that 'savages' means 'all inhabitants of the planets Haltmann attacks' still suggests she's still kinda evil and personally I like the idea that Susie doesn't randomly turn good after being so gleefully eager and proud of Haltmann's experiments. Why the fuck should she turn good when there's MONEY to be made!?
@@castform7 And Magalor's redemption arc is essentially him making the popstar equvalent of disney land as an apology for wanting to rule all of the universe
Kirby lore is wild and that’s what makes it so good. Just like kingdom hearts. I love how it completely subverts your expectations; especially since the series comes off as this cutesy innocent kids game. Triple Deluxe was my first Kirby game and it genuinely surprised me with all the lore surrounding Queen Sectonia. I had your exact reactions. 😂
Kirby 64 was my first Kirby game. Since the Lore was young (Meaning that it didn’t exist yet), all I needed to see to know Kirby had dark undertones was O2 and him bleeding as Kirby shot Crystals into his eye-self.
to be fair he only did that once, other times its jsut hims eieng something spooky/bad happening and then running to punch it in the face but yes it is funny because it DID happen once so it cna happen again
There's Dyna Blade as well, where a giant bird stealing food causes Kirby to go on a rampage to reach its nest. Given that Dyna Blade is, again, a giant bird, you have to wonder who exactly Kirby was slaughtering on the way over.
37:08 If it makes you feel any better, in the original Japanese version, Susie had turned Haltman's company into a charity using the power of science to help lives
Note that most of these lore was established by Shinya Kumazaki, HAL's designer since Kirby Canvas Curse and director for Super Star Ultra onwards. Sakurai era might've implied things here and there but never upfront. As you see, Sakurai doesn't care deepest depth of lore too much, like in Smash Ultimate, he never explained Galeem and Dharkon's motives. Most of the things are just there for the game's sake. But Kumazaki? He's a MASSIVE nerd. He loves bombastic boss fights, deep lore, and hellish abominations. He drew lines all over what Sakurai left to explain what Kirby is. Still, despite everything, Kirby is a pink blob filled with good vibes and friendliness. None of the lore Kumazaki established contradicts that.
12:05 Marx got the Sun and Moon to fight so he could trick Kirby into summoning Nova for him. Ostensibly this is so Kirby could wish for the Sun and Moon to stop fighting, but actually, Marx wanted to swoop in and wish for the power to control all of Popstar. Hence the nightmare demon transformation
@@CodaBlairLucarioEmperor actually there is. His Super smash bros’s spirit name of that winged form is called his “true form”. Not something like “boss form,” “winged form,” or something like that. *“True form.”*
Why everyone gets this wrong? Marx's wish was to conquer dreamland, so galatic nova went to conquer it for him, the demon transformation is Marx's true form, he was always a satanic clown.
16:30 I love how you can visibly see him start to mentally breakdown at Kirby Squeak Squad. Yes Kirby has Killed Gods over cake. Yes this is completely normal for the franchise. No HAL Laboratories is not on acid. I think.
I kinda wish this video was retitled “Kingdom Hearts Fan Attempts to Understand Kirby Lore”, since it would accurately give most people an idea of what they’re in for
In Kirby Canvas Curse. The final boss which is a sorceress named Drawcia. You fight her first form which isn’t all that bad but her second phase is when things get terrifying. She turns into a giant orb of paint with eyes known as Drawcia Soul and starts having a mental breakdown by screaming throughout the fight. There are also rumors that Drawcia Soul isn’t screaming at Kirby, but is screaming at the player because she knows you are the one controlling Kirby and the reason why Kirby has been able to ruin her plans and beat her in the final fight. It’s a pretty terrifying fight and hearing her screams will send chills down your spine.
by the way, Forgotten Land creates a whole new lore problem by introducing a different UNIVERSE MODELED AFTER EARTH AKA SHIVER STAR! the fact. that Kirby lore is this deep and detailed while being a game about a cute little pink puffball fighting bad guys with the power of friendship makes this one of my favorite series of all time.
Spoilers I thought that Shiver Star would cause a continuity error, but the scene with Leongar explains the coincidence. As it turns out, the humans didn't go extinct, they successfully abandoned the planet. Given how many alien species in Kirby have humanoid designs, it's possible that they evolved from a single species as they settled in different planets. Now remember that the Lightron Works Company is said to have competitors and the Haltman Works Company is constantly terraforming planets.
how to survive in a kirby game: DO NOT interrupt Kirby's naptime or take his food, you can be an elder god planning the destruction of the universe, but as long as you follow those two rules, you'll be able to pull it off successfully.
Well to be fair Kirby himself is Eldritch Abomination - basically Cthulu but instead of mass destruction once awoken he brings peace, rainbows and stuff... And woe to the fool who dares to stand in his way.
Ironically enough, your stream made me interested in Kirby lore to the point that I became a full on fan of the series. This type of worldbuilding in the aesthetic of a cute platformer drew me in. So thanks Nico ^_^
welcome to the fandom!! kirby’s concept from the very get-go was a light, friendly, and approachable game for anyone to enjoy, while belying hidden depths, difficulty, and darkness to engage those up for a little more, and that much hasn’t changed at all over these 30 years. it’s with this design dissonance that sucked many of us in so to speak, so i hope u enjoy the very much this franchise has to offer~

Kirby lore has no right to be as complex and interesting as it is and I love it. Lol. It still weirds me out how "Another Dimension" is the name of a place in the Kirby Universe. Like it's not a figure of speech to say they're lost somewhere, they're literally in "Another Dimension"
Also, it's not explained but the friend hearts ability Kirby and his friends have come from the 4 friend spears that were sealing Void in the Jamba heart before it shattered into pieces and fell all over Popstar. The 4 spears belonged to four warriors and it was revealed in Kirby: Super Team Clash (A fighting spin off game) after the video came out that Galacta Knight was known as Aeon Hero after sealing Void in the Dream Kingdom before the 4 Kirbies (species) defeat Aeon Hero and seal him long before the other Kirby games. Which is why you see hearts when the butterfly of paradise absorbs Galacta Knight...... not that complicated.
who were the other 3 heros of eon since we know galacta knight was one who probably is a stand in for the Star Warriors a race that seems to be winged with swords and also kinda round and cute
@@jakoblent4694 Well, Star Warriors weren't one whole race I think but as for Galacta Knight's race, it's just the Kirby race. A lot of characters share the same name as their race in this franchise unless they have a title like Meta Knight. Though Kirby, the main character, has the nickname "Pink Demon".
Finally, (**cracks knuckles**) my time to shine. You’ve stepped into my Kirby Trivia Wheelhouse now. Buckle up bitches, it’s going to be a LONG ONE. Ok, first things first. Sakurai isn’t the series head anymore, and hasn’t been for a long time. He’s only directed a handful of games for the series: Kirby’s Dreamland, Kirby’s Adventure (and it’s remake, Nightmare in Dreamland), Kirby Superstar, and Kirby Air Ride. He was also a special advisor for Kirby and the Amazing Mirror, worked closely with the Kirby Anime, and voice acted King Dedede in Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards, but aside from that, he hasn’t been involved with the series in a long time. Shinichi Shimomura is responsible for what most Kirby fans refer to as the “Dark Matter Trilogy” (Dreamland 2, Dreamland 3, and Kirby 64). Each major villain of those games ties directly into Dark Matter in some fashion, hence why fans connect the three into a trilogy. Shinya Kumazaki is the current major series director starting with Kirby Superstar Ultra, with his first original directed Kirby game being Kirby’s Return to Dream Land. It was also around this era that more hints of an interwoven lore started to pop up, along with the first mentions of the ancients. He’s also got one HELLUVA eldritch Lovecraftian art gallery, which really explains the direction the series took. Second, Morpho Knight. It may be a biiiit of a stretch to imply he’s been with Kirby all along, but I wouldn’t exactly put it past HAL. He’s said to be a being that casts Judgement upon final battles, and he when he lands on a target and transforms, he’s consuming that target along with their power. To quote Forgotten Land’s capsule description for him, “There it feasts on the most powerful soul it finds and takes the form of a scarlet-clad knight”. It happened to Galacta Knight, and it happened to Forgo Soul too, though Chaos Elfilis implies that one can survive being consumed by Morpho Knight. You’ll notice during his battle in Forgotten Land, he shoots out images of Fecto Forgo; that’s because he’s fighting with Fecto Forgo’s absorbed power. Now if you take a look at most modern Kirby game intro cutscenes, you’ll notice that orange and yellow butterfly always lands on Kirby in some fashion. The Morpho Sword further mentions that “This dangerous weapon grants that form to any who wields it. For Kirby, wielding that power is… a breeze”. This may imply that Kirby is powerful enough to resist Morpho Knight’s transformative abilities, enough to also wield his sword with significant ease. On Susie, the Japanese version of Planet Robobot more so states she wanted to “bring [Haltmann] to his senses” or “wake him up” when attempting to steal the Star Dream helmet, implying she was hurt Haltmann no longer recognized her due to Star Dream’s machinations. I have a feeling that one twitch chat member saying “revenge” as her motive was accurate: it just wasn’t revenge towards Haltmann, but Star Dream, for erasing his memories and former self. That isn’t to say she’s completely nicey-nicey. Meta Knight’s still afraid of her after she mechanized him into Mecha Knight, as he runs away from her in one of the intro screens to Star Allies. Though at least she’s on slightly better terms with Kirby and friends, and definitely not as villainous as she once was. In regards to Galacta Knight, while he technically hasn’t made a canon appearance unlike Morpho Knight, that doesn’t mean he doesn’t exist. Even after the incident with Morpho Knight in Star Allies, he shows up in a later released spinoff entry , Super Kirby Clash. It is unknown if he’ll ever show up in official mainline canon, though he’s made plenty of appearances in bonus modes. Also his theme is a banger please listen to it, it shreds soooooo hard. As for some fun tidbits I think are neat, in Star Allies Marx’s description it’s said “he’ll be your buddy if you keep him well fed!”, with some fans memeing that Marx wouldn’t’ve tried to take over Popstar if he just got a Snickers or something. The Kirby Anime isn’t canon to to the games. It follows a “monster of the week” format, and combines elements from various Kirby games. Nightmare from Kirby’s Adventure is the main villain, and wiped out swarths of the galaxy, with only the Star Warriors to resist him. Meta Knight was one of these Star Warriors, and Kirby was expected to become one too, though he crash landed on Popstar 200 years too early, hence why he’s more-or-less a baby in the anime who primarily speaks in “poyo”s and other babbling (though some instances in the games imply he knows some basic speech). 4Kids was responsible for the English dub, and most would say it’s actually one of their finest works in dubbing. Especially since Meta Knight, voiced by Eric Stuart, and King Dedede, voiced by Ted Lewis, have some of the most meme-able voices in anime dubbing. Meta Knight’s got an affected Spanish accent inspired by Zorro(I actually thought your voice for Salsa in Mother 3 sounded pretty close to him!) and King Dedede has a Hilariously over-the top Southern Accent. These voices were so iconic, several Kirby fan projects usually have Meta Knight and Dedede’s voices reference their anime accents. Though most Kirby fans, including myself, look back on the anime with nostalgia, some have raised a bit of contention over a certain aspect: King Dedede’s character. As loveably hammy and memey as he is, there’s no denying he’s a way bigger jerk to Kirby in the anime than he is in the games. In the anime, Dedede summons monsters via Nightmare’s (and his Dan Green dubbed N.M.E Salesman minion’s) monster-4-hire shopping service, and frequently antagonizes Kirby and the other civilians of Cappy Town (though sometimes they do get along). In the games, while Dedede started off as a villain, after Kirby defeated him in the first game, every other time you fight Dedede he’s either A. Possessed/Brainwashed, B. Fighting a friendly match, C. trying to stop Kirby from unknowingly unleashing a demon lord, or D. That’s not even Dedede, it’s a clone. In fact, in Kirby’s Adventure, Dedede’s trying to STOP Nightmare instead of buying monsters from him. Dedede sealed Nightmare away in the Star Rod and shattered it, giving the pieces to his minions. Unfortunately, this meant the citizens of Dreamland could no longer dream, and Kirby didn’t happen to catch the “Sealed Nightmare Demon” part. But at least Kirby beat Nightmare after accidentally unleashing him and now all is well. His appearance in Forgotten Land further cements his reformed Hero status, with his first action after being freed from Fecto Forgo’s brainwashing being to save a Waddle Dee and buy Kirby and friends some time. He’s basically if Bowser got consistent character development and became Mario’s best buddy, hence why so many fans love him.
cool minor thing? magalor's name has a translation. lor means paradise, mafo/maho (due to japanese pronunciation) means lie or false... so his name translates in the series name to 'false paradise'. also, in star allies, dedede's developed so much that kirby thinks it's horribly UNLIKE him to steal all the food. he's come a long way.
so just an fyi, the japanese pause screen description does not explicitly say that zan partizanne tried to kill herself. iirc it basically adds that she "lost everything," which, when combined with the fact that she "climbed a tower in desperation" in the middle of a thunderstorm, has lead many to interpret it as she wanted to kill herself.
Something I should mention from the wiki: In the Japanese version of Void Termina's second phase’s Soul Melter EX description, it is implied that Void was created from the combination of all chaos and possibilities, Dream, Dark, Soul, and Heart, in a substance of sorts. It is also stated that he was born as “the progenitor of origination." It explains on why there are so many big bosses with the evil one-eye ( because of the properties of Dark energy/element), why kirby himself (and his mirror reflection in Amazing Mirror) couldn't be corrupted (being made of pure Heart I assume), and why there is Soul versions of bosses (the souls of being are an actual energy/element). What even better is that Forgotten Lands build on this by showing us what a creature who uses the Dream element/energy is like
Forgotten Land spoiler: . . . . . . . . Yes, Elfilis is probably Dream substance, considering he can mind control the beasts through their dreams and create an entire physical world in his dreams. And that's quite interesting, considering the people who studied him and left the planet were probably the Ancients. And they made the Star Rod (and possibly the Fountains of DREAMS). And they made Clockwork Stars that can grant wishes, one of them being called Star DREAM. (maybe they're using the power of dreams to grant wishes?) And they studied Elfilis' power ti create portals. And the Lor can make portals like Elfilis, so it's based on Elfilis' powers, Elfilis very likely being made of Dream substance. So, we've got Heart with Kirby, Dark with the Dark Matters, Soul with all the Soul bosses, and now it seems Dream may have been there just under our eyes in all of the Ancients' technology.
@@dresseuse_de_johto Forgotten Land Spoilers the butterfly/Morpho Knight also seems to be a Dream Entity considering their title during the boss fight and how they were in Forgo Dreams without using a portal like Kirby did. Also, the orb thing isn't necessarily a Dark matter thing because we do also have chaos elfilis ransforming into an orb for the second phase.
I really like how Sai edited this video. Instead of being a stream clip, it uses the lore videos with Nico's reactions on camera. Keep on doing your fine work, man!
"Astral Birth Void", the souped up form of Kirby Star Allies' final boss fought in the post game, has a name that's roughly synonymous with "Void Born of the Stars", just like the Japanese title of the series Hoshi no Kaabii/Kirby of the Stars. Their pause menu descriptions are almost identical too! Only the Astral Birth Void is a creature of darkness and malice, while Kirby is the embodiment of happiness and love.
"That's super dark! He believed his daughter was dead and it made him lose his mind! So he became obsessed with power to bring her back from the afterlife!" Pokemon fans: ...Should we tell him?
I actually managed to watch this stream live. As a Kirby fan myself, watching someone like Nico progressively lose his sanity learning about the lore in somewhat real-time and then have a butterfly of all things be his breaking point is an experience I'll never forget.

To answer your question on whether Kirby knows what's going on or not: No, no he doesn't. Kirby Fighters 2 implies that Kirby can't even read. All Kirby knows is, "Bad guy is doing bad things and making me and my friends sad" and that's all the explanation he needs to start wailing on gods of immense power.
"Why's it gotta be so much all the time with the kirby lore?" The best part about it is that the lore is something that you're able to just invest as much into as you want, you can honestly just go "big bad guy go eat" because that's exactly how Kirby goes about it
making it like modern doom in a way where doomguy doesn't really care about the story unless it's the part where he makes the demons stop being able to do bad things
The Susie thing *is* a translation error. Japanese version just says she's taking over his company and is kinda bossy. English decided to punch it up and go "NO SHES SUPER EVIL STILL" Despite none of the games really backing that up. It's dumb.
It does say she 'exterminates savages', which is questionable at the best of times, but apparently that's what Haltmann called the inhabitants of Dream Land, making it even worse.
@@meta9492 it's all about the expectation. People dont expect consistent darksouls level of lore and eldritch horror from a E rated game franchise decades old. Besides, why would they expect that?
The best part about Kirby lore is that no matter how complicated or eldritch the lore is, none of it matters, cause Kirby doesn't understand any of it nor does he care. He just wants all the problems to go away so that he can go back to his regular life. It's hilarious.
It's like Doom in that instance: There's a whole lot of lore details and things are very much detailed... and you don't have to interact with it much or at all because the main character doesn't really care.
Before anyone comments: Sakurai DID NOT WRITE THE KIRBY LORE. Sakurai did have major involvement in the creation of Kirby but hasn't worked on the series directly since Air Ride and that was 19 YEARS AGO. The main writer for the games has been Shinya Kumazaki who is also the current head director of the series and has been since Super Star Ultra which was 14 years ago now. While there have been creepy looking bosses in the series before this, there wasn't any deeper story or hidden connecting plot threads between games until after Kumazaki started directing. It frustrates me how people keep throwing around Sakurai's name likes he's responsible for everything related to Kirby when that simply isn't true. Kumazaki and his team at Hal deserve just as much credit for making Kirby what it is today, maybe even more.
Sakurai gave birth to Kirby and did some stuff in the beginning, and Kumazaki did the rest. Basically, Kumazaki took a bunch of strands of thread and tied everything together, and I’m very grateful for him making something cohesive out of a bunch of random stuff!
Thank you for mentioning this. Honestly it's getting tiring to see people credit Sakurai and not Kumazaki. Sakurai may have made Kirby, but Kumazaki is what elevated him into (literal) godhood.
Other fun fact: It’s unknown if The Jambastion Mage Sisters are really blood sisters or “sisters” as in the Covenant variety. Some take the non-blood sisters approach since they were found in separate locations and some would say there’s even a bit of lesbian subtext between Francisca and Flamberge, but nothing is confirmed. (SWEET HOME ALABAMA INTENSIFIES???)
And another thing. You got off WAAAAAY easier with the Arena modes in Forgotten Land compared to Triple Deluxe and Robobot. Those two games have “The True Arena”, which have the Soul versions of the final boss. They’re also way harder than the Forgotten Land arenas. Picture, if you will, playing through the Data Fights in Re:Mind. You cannot heal unless it’s in between battles. You have limited heals. You get to Data Xehanort, and he predictably kills you. You now have to not only fight Data Xehanort again, but ALL THE OTHER DATA FIGHTS BEFORE HIM. THAT’S what the old “True Arena” fights were like in the Kirby Series, unlike forgotten land where you can pay to redo a fight if you lose. It’s also where the dankest lore was hidden, since most young children wouldn’t likely be able to access it.
Also considering he went in with all additional stat boosts and healing items, he cheesed the whole thing, which is perfectly fine. Trying Star Allies' Soul Melter EX is pain incarnate.
@@ObscureSwan l always have to use almost all healing items in Soul Melter EX Shit, Whispy actually takes a considerable amount of health from me on my first attempt
The great things about Kirby Lore is that it’s designed in a way that you don’t NEEDS to study up on it to enjoy each games stories, most of them are simple and easy to follow, BUT if you do dive Into the lore, stuff gets way more interesting and fun! But once again, it’s not an overarching story you gotta follow or you’ll be lost
There are 2 kinds of Danganronpa fans. When hearing about how Max Haltmann got absorbed into Star Dream reacting immediately with “OH MY GOD THAT IS SO SCREWED UP” [Weeby News] And the other kind, witch only realize how screwed up that is when detailing Haltmann’s pained screams as Kirby destroys the computer.
I wasn’t able to catch this stream live but as soon as I could I went back to check out the VOD because I knew that the reaction to this would be absolutely glorious.
I mean Kirby games ARE normally self contained to “new big evil thing go kill it with friendship” when it comes to any game on its own but amid the continuity of every game there’s this massive god war of ancient tribes that ACTUALLY makes sense altogether
Especially Hyness, who had his plan work from far away and explicitly messed up his plan to awaken Void Termina. The rest naturally would involve the world of Pop Star and therefore naturally incur Kirby’s attention.
I actually didn't know a whole lot of Kirby lore when I played Planet Robobot, but I *did* know about Super Star, which was enough to make the reveal at the 32:30 mark *COMPLETELY BONKERS.*
Where else but in Kirby games can you find a mix of both adorable wholesomeness and creepy Nightmare Fuel? Kirby lore is pretty wild, though, full of deep backstories and cosmic horrors, all bundled together with the heroic adventures of a cute pink puffball who swallows enemies whole and gains abilities based on their powers. Hats, too. =P Edit: I stand corrected. There are a lot of series that combine adorability and Nightmare Fuel. They just didn’t occur to me at the time, lol
Digimon and Made in Abyss. I have not played a ton of Kirby games but Fecto Fergo is tame compared to D Reaper and those 2 Animes are no slauge when it comes to adorability and wholesomeness.
@@sofaris576 Made in abyss isn’t really trying to hide its darkness though. Kirby’s whole this is that it is outwardly cute, but gets more messed up as you go on. While made in abyss starts cute, gets dark, and then stays dark.
Makes sense that the butterfly was the breaking point for him, just think every time it landed on Kirby it was just trying to absorb his soul. Very cool!
I love how the butterfly/Morpho Knight broke Nico the same way it did the Kirby fanbase. We all now have collective PTSD thanks to a fluttering insect. Also, welcome to the Kirby fanbase Nico, we welcome you with open arms. May I interest you in our lord and savior Bandana Waddle Dee?
I think I get Nintendo's thought process when they made these games for kids, I think. Because kirby is a child himself he doesn't really comprehend all the horrible stuff that happens around him, this is supposed to reflect the fact the kids playing the game probably won't comprehend it either until later on they grow up and replay the game for nostalgia or watch a youtube video about it, that works too. It's a weird way to bank on the nostalgia and replayability but judging by the fanbase they nailed it.
I love this relationship between kirb and dedede in the show and the games Games: triple d is honestly a decent dude Show: he has actively tried to kill his citizens and literally tried to dissect Kirby
As someone who's grown up with Kirby & knowing all the lore like common knowledge, seeing you react blind with no expectation of what's to come makes this one of my favourite videos on the site xD As to "why?". Well, I feel like it's proof that a lot of care & effort was put into the series! I'm not sure how to explain it better but it's like... They didn't have to, but I'm so glad they did! Plus I feel like, at least for me, having well written characters & world lore even in such an otherwise "simplistic" series makes me care about it so much more! For example, I've always loved Kirby & Squeak Squad was the first game I ever 100%ed but I never had much interest in Mario with the exception of the RPGs... (Also everyone go sub to RPGmonger!! I've been following him for a while and his content is really good!)
You basically described my love for Guilty Gear, a "somewhat" niche fighting game with lore and worldbuilding on the level of RPGs, it leaves many confused. I meanwhile, find it really compelling. They didnt have to go so hard for a fighting game, but I love that they did.
@@ladyholiday3863 "Sword of the Surviving Guardian," "The Raging Lion Roars," "Two Planets Approach the Roche Limit," "Faded Dreams of a Psychomeddler," and "Eternal Echo of the Thrilling Tour-our-our" are some of the rawest titles for video game music I've seen and they're all from Forgotten Land. Granted previous games had some raw titles too. "The Star-Conquering Traveler," "Vagrant Keepsake of Oblivion," and "Intermezzo Without a Leader" to name a few.
Kirby lore is pretty straightforward. Helps that it doesn’t have games that’s happen before previous games or in between previous games or far into the future or far into the past. It’s a straight line with preseries lore just being stuff you find in the games as you go through them. My favorite is the part where Kirby fought Zero and then LITERALLY TORE HIS EYE OUT WITH GORE AND BLOOD with the power of love.
What we think about Kirby: Cute pick puffball, all adorable creaters, one king Penguin who steal foods, Happy sunny days, & Butterfly. What the Kirby’s lore is: Betrayal, God of Destruction, the Darkest of the evil Darkest, The Writing is too dark than Yoko Taru’s writing, trust issues, & Butterfly.
So for Super Star Ultra it was just a collection of Kirby games. They added new games and extra modes to existing titles as well for the collection. The lore is… well, as you saw, pretty insane, but you can play them all without having to rly understand any of it. They all have self contained stories that connect through threads like shown in the video.
and to clarify: these 'games' aren't stndalone titles, they're made FOR Kirby Super Star (even if one of them is a remake/sequel to the first game) and are only ever playable ONE super star and its remake
hearing someone refer to galacta knight as "one of meta-knight's alt skins in smash" filled me with a rage i did not know i had until now now i know how people feel when someone says something is from fortnite
When it comes to the Mirror World, there's a few more details, like how Shadow Kirby would jumpscare the player a few times, but he turned out to not be evil and just didn't trust the four playable Kirby (Amazing Mirror's big selling point is that it's a metroidvania where you can play Coop, which would be awesome if it weren't released during the GBA days) until it became clear that they were saving the Mirror World. The Mirror World also has a few more creative characters other than just Dark/Shadow (X) or literally just Kracko because Kracko exists in all worlds. There's King Golem (the first Whispy Woods variant to not be made out of wood), a shark head that you fight underwater (Acro's counterpart), a giant rat (who didn't have a Dream Land counterpart until Squeak Squad), Mega Titan (no counterpart), Wiz (presumably the counterpart of Paint Roller) and a canon Kirby appearance of Master and Crazy hand. The counterpart most important to the lore other than Dark Meta Knight is his master, Dark Mind (Nightmare's Mirror World version, to be precise). As shown by the boss fight against Void, Dark Mind is Dark Matter and Nightmare's missing link. But it doesn't stop there: according to the Kirby Clash series, Dark Mind survived having his body destroyed and getting repeatedly stabbed and shot in the pupil by possessing Shadow Dedede. And unlike regular Dedede, it's permanent and they now use the name King D-Mind (who was apparently created because Masked Dedede reminded the development team of Dark Mind's helmet). This further implied Shadow Kirby ultimately failed to stop the villains in the Mirror World. Speaking of Kirby Clash, in Super Kirby Clash Galacta Knight's needles (which are the same design as those found in the big Jamba Heart) and Aeon Hero nickname imply he was one of the four heroes that defeated Void Termina. One last detail, just for fun. When Kirby games mention "another dimension" it's talking about the one introduced in Return to Dreamland that was literally called "Another Dimension".
Dark Mind is actually the Mirror World's version of both Zero and Nightmare. Dark Mind probably burrowed its way inside the Mirror World's Nightmare Wizard just like it did with Shadow Dedede in Kirby Clash.
The best thing about Kirby lore is that it’s filled with eldritch horrors that want to control the universe and Kirby DOES end up stopping them but he’s usually on a meaningless quest to get his cake back, save the Waddle Dees, or even just for fun.
1:58 You ever just find something for the first time and then IMMEDIATELY hate it? That is me when it comes to this. I've played a handful of Kirby games But it never occurred to me that they would all be connected to one another I thought Kingdom Hearts was convoluted, I think Kirby might be on par, if not above Kingdom Hearts I thought each one was a standalone, but little did I know the goddamn BUTTERFLY would turn out to be a god
Just a slight correction (because the videos watched were made before Forgotten land), Morpho Knight (it and the Butterfly of paradise are the same creature, just different forms) isn't a god, it's the Kirby equivalent of the Grim Reaper, or a psychopomp functions exact same way
@@Druid-T I figured it wasn't one But god is the funny term when describing a seemingly innocent being that turns out to have the power to absorb an all powerful knight with extreme ease
I still think Kingdom Hearts lore is WAY more convoluted than Kirby lore. I can still understand the majority of Kirby lore but Kingdom Hearts lore makes my head spin.
quick note, we also need to note that there's one-offs that weren't mentioned. Like the two spin-offs where Kirby was controlled via drawing lines through the stylus because of art-themed villains. Or the OTHER time Kirby got split into multiple pieces and NEARLY ACTUALLY DIED BEFORE THE START OF THE GAME. And of course, all of this is before Kirby and the Forgotten Land (which makes Morpho Knight explicitly canon, suggesting that Galacta Knight and others possibly are too...
My favorite part is that the fate of the Earth is never talked about in this video. As in Kirby 64 the earth shows up as a level called shiverstar and is frozen over and the deeper you go you start seeing abominations in test tubes, and a giant ass war machine robot teies to kill you.
Your lucky because Susie's pause screen description in Japan she is continuing the regular robotics company and the Japanese versions of Kirby games are the real canon
Why though?
Because kirbo
Because Sakurai just loved getting into it
It's funny

Why not?
The best thing about Kirby lore is how dang consistent every bit of detail is. A cute example is when Kirby destroyed Meta Knight Halberd and sink it into the orange ocean in Kirby Super Star, the airship is not seen again UNTIL a couple games later in Kirby Squeak Squad where you fight Meta Knight in Secret Ocean. During that Battle he finally raised the Halberd from the ocean mid fight implying that he's been trying to fix it ever since and you use the newly fixed ship to transition into the final level. The fact that small detail like that is given so much attention is really cool!
The moon is also incredibly consistent. All the way back in Adventure when it blew up, a large crater has been in it ever since.
Or the fact part of the moon is destroyed in Kirby’s Adventure and it stays that way
Will someone explain to me why a franchise about a walking pink ball has such extensive, complicated and DARKER THAN THE REALM OF DARKNESS lore like this?
@@Prototype-357 I mean if you want a real answer: it's because the current director (Shinya Kumazaki) loves eldritch concept and art.
Kirby is a good eldritch powerhouse who wants to save his friends and the games are about seeing him overcome the latest threat, but us knowing the stakes is why Kirby has gained deeper meaning since Return to Dream Land.
hell, the finale of Star Allies has you forced to pause thigns to see what is said because it goes by so fast so it still fits there.

The star warrior stuff is only from the anime which is a separate continuity from the games. also, two more things: void's description in soul melter EX kinda leans towards it meaning that it's KIRBY'S ORIGIN, since it's description says "Void takes his first steps toward a new age. Also iirc the bit About morpho knights design is actually a coincidence.
granted, the fact that 'savages' means 'all inhabitants of the planets Haltmann attacks' still suggests she's still kinda evil
and personally I like the idea that Susie doesn't randomly turn good after being so gleefully eager and proud of Haltmann's experiments. Why the fuck should she turn good when there's MONEY to be made!?

Well... she could give it a new meaning. You never know
Note that most of these lore was established by Shinya Kumazaki, HAL's designer since Kirby Canvas Curse and director for Super Star Ultra onwards.
Kumazaki is a gift to humanity
Literally Kumazaki is the best step dad Kirby could have gotten.
I'm so happy kirby is in his hands. In some ways I honestly think his era(s) have surpassed Sakurai's
Yeah, Kirby kinda perfectly reflects the player’s “I have no idea what’s happening, but that won’t stop me from destroying everything in my path.”
Isn't it implied somewhere that he naturally had something similar to that as his true form but then the wish souped him up more?

Spoilers
I thought that Shiver Star would cause a continuity error, but the scene with Leongar explains the coincidence.
Don't forget the power of s u c c.
how to survive in a kirby game: DO NOT interrupt Kirby's naptime or take his food, you can be an elder god planning the destruction of the universe, but as long as you follow those two rules, you'll be able to pull it off successfully.

As for some fun tidbits I think are neat, in Star Allies Marx’s description it’s said “he’ll be your buddy if you keep him well fed!”, with some fans memeing that Marx
wouldn’t’ve tried to take over Popstar if he just got a Snickers or something.
Boy, I hope this comment has enough likes for enough people to see this.
@@JJ_R thank u, I literally finished the draft of this before I saw the video was uploaded

cool minor thing? magalor's name has a translation. lor means paradise, mafo/maho (due to japanese pronunciation) means lie or false... so his name translates in the series name to 'false paradise'.
also, in star allies, dedede's developed so much that kirby thinks it's horribly UNLIKE him to steal all the food. he's come a long way.
Isn't Galacta knight being one of the four heros to seal Void canon?
so just an fyi, the japanese pause screen description does not explicitly say that zan partizanne tried to kill herself. iirc it basically adds that she "lost everything," which, when combined with the fact that she "climbed a tower in desperation" in the middle of a thunderstorm, has lead many to interpret it as she wanted to kill herself.
Something I should mention from the wiki: In the Japanese version of Void Termina's second phase’s Soul Melter EX description, it is implied that Void was created from the combination of all chaos and possibilities, Dream, Dark, Soul, and Heart, in a substance of sorts. It is also stated that he was born as “the progenitor of origination."
It explains on why there are so many big bosses with the evil one-eye ( because of the properties of Dark energy/element), why kirby himself (and his mirror reflection in Amazing Mirror) couldn't be corrupted (being made of pure Heart I assume), and why there is Soul versions of bosses (the souls of being are an actual energy/element).
What even better is that Forgotten Lands build on this by showing us what a creature who uses the Dream element/energy is like

(maybe they're using the power of dreams to grant wishes?)
And they studied Elfilis' power ti create portals.

It’s so… innocent.
To answer your question on whether Kirby knows what's going on or not:
No, no he doesn't. Kirby Fighters 2 implies that Kirby can't even read. All Kirby knows is, "Bad guy is doing bad things and making me and my friends sad" and that's all the explanation he needs to start wailing on gods of immense power.
"Why's it gotta be so much all the time with the kirby lore?"
The best part about it is that the lore is something that you're able to just invest as much into as you want, you can honestly just go "big bad guy go eat" because that's exactly how Kirby goes about it
making it like modern doom in a way
where doomguy doesn't really care about the story unless it's the part where he makes the demons stop being able to do bad things
The Susie thing *is* a translation error. Japanese version just says she's taking over his company and is kinda bossy. English decided to punch it up and go "NO SHES SUPER EVIL STILL"
Despite none of the games really backing that up. It's dumb.
It does say she 'exterminates savages', which is questionable at the best of times, but apparently that's what Haltmann called the inhabitants of Dream Land, making it even worse.

Kirby: I just want to live a quiet life
Before anyone comments: Sakurai DID NOT WRITE THE KIRBY LORE.
THANK U. KUMAZAKI DESERVES MORE LOVE
Thank you for mentioning this.
Honestly it's getting tiring to see people credit Sakurai and not Kumazaki.
Sakurai may have made Kirby, but Kumazaki is what elevated him into (literal) godhood.
There's also Shinichi Shimomura, who's responsible for the 3 Dark Matter games.
@@F1areon and weirdly disappeared after that.
Since the game is heavily religious connotation, I see it as a religious sisterhood, I think thats the intent :3
But all interpretation are valid tbh
I will never get tired of explaining this whenever I mention FranFlam. That ship deserves to be more popular!
I didn't know even know you could pay to redo a fight until I died to the last boss in the Ultimate Z cup. 😂
Definitely a very appreciated feature!
This isn't even getting into the gauntlet that is Soul Melter EX.
Also considering he went in with all additional stat boosts and healing items, he cheesed the whole thing, which is perfectly fine. Trying Star Allies' Soul Melter EX is pain incarnate.
@@ObscureSwan l always have to use almost all healing items in Soul Melter EX
Shit, Whispy actually takes a considerable amount of health from me on my first attempt
Ultimate Cup Z was probably the hardest “True Arena” I have ever done taking me 2 days to do it.
Seeing Nico's reactions, ESPECIALLY from Robobot's section of lore is absolute gold
The Kirby series is the definition of dont judge a book by its cover.
Seeing Nico freak out over how messed up Robobots lore is genuinely amazing
The sound of Nico's brain falling apart trying to comprehend the lore of a series that stars a smol pink boi. This is a treat

When hearing about how Max Haltmann got absorbed into Star Dream reacting immediately with “OH MY GOD THAT IS SO SCREWED UP” [Weeby News]
And the other kind, witch only realize how screwed up that is when detailing Haltmann’s pained screams as Kirby destroys the computer.
I love how every Kirby game can be sum'd up in:
"I would have gotten away with it too! If I hadn't disrupted this one pink ####'s nap/meal/morning!"
Hats, too. =P
Edit: I stand corrected. There are a lot of series that combine adorability and Nightmare Fuel. They just didn’t occur to me at the time, lol
touhou if you include all the extra material
Pokemon. Pokemon lore is _full_ of nightmare fuel.
@@badlatency9979 Ah, yes, true. As a Pokemon fan myself, I dunno how that slipped my mind at the time, lol
Most of the dark aspects of the series are a result of the current director at HAL Labs, rather than something Nintendo themselves were involved with.
I love this relationship between kirb and dedede in the show and the games
Games: triple d is honestly a decent dude
Show: he has actively tried to kill his citizens and literally tried to dissect Kirby
As someone who's grown up with Kirby & knowing all the lore like common knowledge, seeing you react blind with no expectation of what's to come makes this one of my favourite videos on the site xD
As to "why?".
Same
He should listen to the series' music. Every game has something incredible to listen to!
The titles go hard too, especially in Forgotten Land
@@ladyholiday3863 9.3 billion in anguish is a sound effect title that goes pretty hard
I haven't heard a single Kirby game without a good soundtrack
24:33 I like to imagine Nico walking up to a group of Waddle Dees, pointing at em, and just yelling “WHAT ARE THOOOOOOOOOOOSE”
Ever since that day, Nico can no longer rest free when he sees a butterfly...
Well, time for Nico's poor brain to get rumbled by the wholesome pink ball of doom. You will never escape this rabbithole friend.
They all have self contained stories that connect through threads like shown in the video.
and to clarify: these 'games' aren't stndalone titles, they're made FOR Kirby Super Star (even if one of them is a remake/sequel to the first game) and are only ever playable ONE super star and its remake
hearing someone refer to galacta knight as "one of meta-knight's alt skins in smash" filled me with a rage i did not know i had until now
now i know how people feel when someone says something is from fortnite
I love how the gods kirby beats includes literal evil, self hate, deception, and corporate america.
I find this infinitely funnier that this is a Kingdom Hearts player reacting to Kirby Lore
1:58 You ever just find something for the first time and then IMMEDIATELY hate it? That is me when it comes to this. Imagine my surprise finding THAT when trying to look up the Eldritch Abomination for an Art project in school.
Just finished the video. That was fun to go through again with those edits
I've played a handful of Kirby games
But it never occurred to me that they would all be connected to one another
I thought Kingdom Hearts was convoluted, I think Kirby might be on par, if not above Kingdom Hearts
I thought each one was a standalone, but little did I know the goddamn BUTTERFLY would turn out to be a god
Just a slight correction (because the videos watched were made before Forgotten land), Morpho Knight (it and the Butterfly of paradise are the same creature, just different forms) isn't a god, it's the Kirby equivalent of the Grim Reaper, or a psychopomp functions exact same way
@@Druid-T I figured it wasn't one
But god is the funny term when describing a seemingly innocent being that turns out to have the power to absorb an all powerful knight with extreme ease
@@Druid-T he can only manifest after devouring the soul and power of a powerfull warrior
Kingdom hearts is 100% more convoluted
Kirby lore is just “you’ve accidentally inconvenienced the wrong baby, now he’s going to kill you and your god”
I still think Kingdom Hearts lore is WAY more convoluted than Kirby lore.
I can still understand the majority of Kirby lore but Kingdom Hearts lore makes my head spin.
Yeah, Kirby lore isn't hard to understand or requires you to you through a lot of loopholes. It is just hidden, but very consistent!
it's probably because the franchise follows its own lore and logic, and doesn't need to retcon every other meal sora had
quick note, we also need to note that there's one-offs that weren't mentioned.
Pausing for Lore is the three most important words for Lore in Kirby, From Super Star to now and later, Pausing for Lore is the way to go.
