    A review that is detailed and explained everything nicely. Very well done.! Just one question: what is the max weight that his tripod can support securely? I have a Canon 77D and a Sigma 18-35 f1.8 that I intend to use on this, and I'm also planning on buying some lenses in the 70-300mm range. Will this tripod support that setup?

    Thank you for your thorough review, it was clear and well explained. I have to use the tripod for work. I am just wondering is there any kind of spirit level on the tripod? I can't see one so far, and don't think I have used a tripod before without a level. I would be using it for video, so having the tripod level is important. Any insights would be helpful, thank you.

    May I ask why this particular one but not Manfrotto Befree? Apart from the price of course?
    I have this dilemma because I have heard Befree is more versatile, and has a fluid video head. But I have also read that fluid head is not so fluid after all, it can be stiffy and kind of stucks while panning. Though, that was only some of the reviews, some people were absolutely happy with it.

    • @AThousandWords
      @AThousandWords  3 роки тому

      I chose this one as it had the features that I was looking for and the price was right, plus I could check out my friend's before ordering it (I don't have a store near me where I could check out different tripods).

    THANK you for the look at the Manfrotto COMPACT ADVANCED BLACK. And at yourself. That key shot on the UA-cam page is so good. You present very well, with the eye-light and the depth shot.
    I bought at Digital Camera Warehouse in Canterbury NSW. I may have wound up with the ADV-WH. The one you show is quite a lot better.
    I was antiquarian about the Quick Release fitting. I have used the one that fitted my Velbon and Harman as a permanent fixture on my Olympus. The "shoe" part is definitely arranged in the wrong direction for me. I do not like covering the battery cover. But ok, the at can be
    I am strongly interested in videography, so I did not understand one thing with the ADV-WH (which I thi-nk I got!): the 2 handles were locked together. The second handle does Portrait. It took me a while to "get" how to move the second pan handle.
    Since the Harman carbonite is far too light, I may keep the ADV-WH. In the near future, I would like to invest in the best Manfrotto inside $400.
    You clarified things that mean I won't need to chuck it back.

    Oh! Another kiwi! Clicked on through a google search result and was pleasantly surprised. Also good to know what lowest price these tripods can go down to, was considering getting one during this year's Black Friday sales but maybe I can afford to wait a little more to get my first tripod... great review, that reversal of the centre bar sounds like a cool feature!

    I have a similar version of this tripod which does most things well. There is one exception. I you wish to take a panorama view, you need to pan the camera horizontally. When you unlock the head, it is free to pan but also tilt. You cannot lock to tilt but leave the pan free to sweep horizntally - unless I'm mistaken. Has you any ideas about this? I need a pan and tilt head and I like Manfrotto products but they are soo expensive. I should add that I really enjoyed your clear and concise review - thank you,
    Andrew Collins

    • @AThousandWords
      @AThousandWords  4 роки тому +1

      You're so right. When I want to pan horizontally I just make sure to not fully loosen the ball head. I keep it a little tight so that it doesn't freely swivel around, but just loose enough that I can push the handle horizontally to pan. Hope that makes sense.

I understand that it's not a fluid head but is it smooth enough to prevent capturing jerky footage and is there any transfer of noise into the camera/microphone from movement of the head? Does the head come off if I wanted to replace it with a Manfrotto head?

      No, it's all part of the tripod with no clear way of detaching it.

    Don't know anything about the tripod but I almost died laughing! Hubby walked by and ask, Why is she holding that artificial leg?
    All he had seen was the still shot of you holding up the tripod. hahahaha!
