So glad they added a board for Hey that's My Fish. Previous versions were unplayable with kids because the tiles would get bumped. I had 3d printed organizers
Thank you for these great reviews! I like it like this when you aren't speeding through a lot of them without showing each. I so want to get that version of Hey That's My Fish for my family.
Gotta say Alphabet Stoop really peaks my interest. I like word games anyway, and this seems like an easy one to get to the table. Components look great too!! Thanks for the video Tom!
They finally gave Hey that's my fish a board. I have spent time trying to make one because I like the game but hate the set up. I just bought a copy of the new printings after watching this!
Havalandi is deeper than it seems. There's plenty of different strategies to pursue. I do agree, there's no reason they couldn't have put the scoring on the board.
@bradm864 Agreed. You're simply making the best tactical decision based on where the dice lands. It's about the same randomness you'd get in Castles of Burgundy (which you can negate, to be fair to CoB ).
We have the Fantasy Flight Games edition of Hey, that's my Fish but I agree, it is a really fun, simple game. My daughter loves it. I really like the grid that this new edition comes with. I dislike how easy the tiles in my edition can be bumped around.
Hey that's my fish is awesome. Us adults play it without kids competitively. There is quite a bit of strategy to it. Plus you can play it with the kids less competitively.
My favorite Fish-like (ahem) is Small Star Empires. A bit more complex (even without the optional expansions) so less kid-friendly, but a bit more interesting (even without the optional expansions).
@@damagedjoker69 you lose possibilities by having to move as much as possible, but gain possibilities by being able to choose how much of the stack to move or leave.
If you put so many reviews in one video, it might be neat to have a poll to see who wants a full length video for one of the games mentioned. You might get a lot of votes for 1 or 2? Or maybe you get none?
Adding the board for Hey that's my fish is great! But unfortunately they have taken a $20 (NZD) game and made $80 (NZD) game!!? Maybe that's just New Zealand.... But I would certainly buy the new edition if it was less than $50 (NZD).. Its a shame they priced it so high
"When my children are "gone"..." That's pretty dark, Tom. What are you planning? ;) ( I like this format. And the other, faster one if it means we find out about games that otherwise would not get coverage.)
Tom, keep in mind alot of viewers have never seen these games, or types of games, or have played thousands of games like you have. For example: Red Hot Silly Peppers, I've never played a matching card game, but you were like "Ugh, another one" it's distracting
I mean I think many gamers have played several of these and he even gave some examples of games in the genre he likes. I’m not sure what else you want him to do ? It’s a common style of game and that is pertinent information for many of us.
Sure, but Tom has to review it in the context he has, and explain why his rating is what it is. Usually he will say games that did it better which gives you alternatives to search for. I think you would see the same complaints if he gave it a low review but don’t explain why, people would want to know. In this case, it’s because it does nothing original and wasn’t fun to play.
@@Kasotic he did say in the video the names of two games that do the same mechanic better: Jungle Speed and Halli Galli. So, your complaint is kinda weighless.
Sherlock in Japan is an odd title for a deduction game set in Spain.
Yes, and it's also odd to put a lemming theme on a game about racing gerbils. :)
I was unaware there were ninja in Spain, now I do. The things you learn from games these days.😅

Not a huge deal but players do collect the ice flows from occupied spaces where their penguins could no longer make an additional move.

Finally, a decent production of Hey That’s My F&&$in Fish!
I like how compact the earlier versions are though!
@@BoardGamesBricksHobbies Same. The (later) FFG version is just so tiny. Love it.

@7:27 Isn't that just Snap, or a variation of Snap?
I dig the guayabera and hat combo Tom has going on.

@0:22 - isn't Sherlock in Time almost exactly Gangster City (2018)?

Alphabet Stoop looks like it could have been an interesting pick up and deliver game with words, but ended up being oversimplified.
No, really. That is actually my fish, sir.🐧
Tom - "I give this one a 7", Editor - nope, it's an 8
he did give it an 8 though :P
Zombie lemming! not sure if it would a better band name or b-movie but I like it.

Man there is a lot of duds this week. I'm kind of glad for it. 😅

Finally a grade worthy of a Knivia game
I feel targeted by this review title, lol.
