- A short tour round St Peter's churchyard including some info about 3 local pit disasters and a look at some of the gravestones. As usual I am still getting to grips with my filming skills so waffle comes as standard
Thank you for the video. Lots of history. My uncle Robbie Brayen was a member of this church and I attended WGS across the street. Moved to Canada in 1964 so seeing these videos brings back great memories.
So glad you enjoyed watching it, thanks Derek :)
Great to see this. I've never seen the grounds themselves. Just remember going in the church for certain services while I was at St Peters School for 2 or 3 years until I left on my 11th birthday 1964. Susan Kerridge
Glad you enjoyed it
Never new there was 2 pit disasters 😢. Thank you for the history lesson. Was born and bred in howden. Till I moved to rural Northumberland
sadly we had more than 2 but two were pretty big ones. Many of the victims of those and other smaller disasters are buried in the church yard grounds
So sad 😞
great bit of history thank you
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it
A great video of local history 😊
Thank you :)
Hi Julie
Great video and very interesting.
Thank you. Glad you enjoyed it
'Coal Mining' one of the most dangerous jobs out there: 'Let's put 5 year olds in the pits'
It is indeed very sad, I am glad times have changed
