    CLIP DESCRIPTION:
    Erin (Julia Roberts) and Ed (Albert Finney) discuss taking out PG&E corporate, but consider some very real outcomes that could destroy the case.
    FILM DESCRIPTION:
    Julia Roberts stars in this legal drama based on the true story of a woman who helped win the largest settlement ever paid in a direct-action lawsuit. Erin Brockovich (Roberts) is a single mother of three who, after losing a personal injury lawsuit, asks her lawyer, Ed Masry (Albert Finney), if he can help her find a job. Ed gives her work as a file clerk in his office, and she runs across some information on a little-known case filed against Pacific Gas and Electric. Erin begins digging into the particulars of the case, convinced that the facts simply don't add up, and persuades Ed to allow her to do further research; in time, she discovers a systematic cover-up of the industrial poisoning of a city's water supply, which threatens the health of the entire community. Erin Brockovich was directed by Steven Soderbergh; Julia Roberts earned a $20 million payday for her work on the film, the highest salary paid to a female film star up to that time.

      I totally agree, these people are underestimated! They must have a great imagination to figure which actor might fit for a certain role. I guess the screenbook must be extremely important too, but unfortunately I don't know anything about making a movie. What's the job of a producer, a production manager and so on? I'd like to see a documentary of that....

    Julia Roberts Oscar winning performance has a lot to do with her co-acting with Albert Finney. A veteran English actor who on its own did an amazing acting performance for this movie. 5 time Academy Award nominations. Never won.

      Well one judge might decide, but as far as I know, there are usually ways to appeal his decision. Also the judge's decision is based on the law, and previous decisions that have been made and stood the test of appeals in similar cases. The judges are meant to spend time carefully reviewing all the details and considering everything before making their judgement, but obviously yeah, it's not perfect and I'm sure a lot of unfair decisions are made. Always appeal bad decisions, and go public so you have public opinion on your side!!!

    • @bebo5558
      @bebo5558 3 роки тому +3

      @@lonelylantern9135 Appeals cost two or three times more, than the original court case. An appeal is great if your rich, but most people can't afford to defend themselves, the first time! Again, going public should have no affect on the judge, they are supposed to be IMPARTIAL!

    • @lonelylantern9135
      @lonelylantern9135 3 роки тому

      @@bebo5558 Yes, supposed to be! But they are not. Humans are fundamentally biased, even with training. Especially in a case like this, where there were hundreds of cases of serious illness because of a corrupt water supply. The will of the people matters. Eg decisions can be influenced and support through precedents found accordingly- basically some cases can go either way legally so then influence counts. Also laws can be changed if there is outrage from the verdict.

    I knew albert firmingly from anne- a dramatical socialism film about a girl churningly named Anne but she unfortunately orphaned and remindably she was adopted to a philanthrophical empowerment millionaire. This consistently explicated all the journey of anne and her surrogate father did it tooo
    The film is moving honestly, since that I search acquaintedly to the cast and no doubt to annalyse, anne's surrogate father was indeed Albert Finney, who exclusively dictated as Ed, a law officer who volunteered with Erin in the same-name film. The film must briefly accounted into the most self-biologic film released everlessly
