Hi Nelson, thank you so much for lifting my spirit with your beautiful blooms. My orchids are also feeling the pain of my tragic loss as I have not been out in my garden for days. I finally decided I would spend some time in the garden this morning but the zeal is still not there. Took up my phone and your video was right there and so i just went straight into it. Thanks again for sharing and giving me that little push to go pay my babies a visit. Have yourself a wonderful Christmas and all the very best for a blooming 2023.
Hello Precious. Hope you are doing well under the circumstances. I spend some time with the Orchid Doc past weekends ago. We spoke about you and keep you in our prayers. Hang on in there. Remember we may loose loved ones, but we always have so many others with us still that appreciate and love us for who we are. You have us orchid family to be there in hard times. God bless you my dear🙏🏼 One Love❤️
So many beautiful blooms, especially the first dendrobium you showed is amazing! Watching and enjoying you growing your orchids all day round outside with comfortable temperatures, while sitting in central heated livingroom in Germany with outside temperatures around -8°C 🥶 and very short days. Thanks a lot for sharing. 💕
I am very blessed with this weather. I did live in Chicago, Illinois and that city is windy and in those temperatures. I know that feeling. This why we moved back to Florida and never left. I hope my videos bring some warmth to you room. Stay warm☃️
It was a pleasure meeting Nelson and Teresita on Friday at Krull Smith. I look forward to watching and learning from you, I especially love your home visits. Sonia

That saying Falla backs of me is perfect. Merry Christmas to you & and your partner. Excited for a great New Year. Much love.
Awe thank you Jo. I appreciate everything you wrote. I can’t wait to meet Orchid Doc and go shopping and nursery hopping. I have 3 major nurseries for her to visit. She will be wowed. Hope to see you at the live. Merry Christmas and great New Year to you and yours. 🤗♥️💚🥂🎅🎉
Hi Nelson. So many gorgeous blooms. 😍😍😍 I love the yellow splash from Hawaii. I am loving your weather there. We have no greenery outdoors. I am really missing summertime. I am looking forward to watching your Q&A with Josh. A spectacular video. I am still learning about orchids. I have a few spikes on a few orchids and can’t wait to film them. But you know that can take a few weeks. The slide show was amazing. 👏👏👏 Have a great weekend. 🌴🌴🌴🌴

OMG! The lipstick plant keeps pushing out buds. It’s full of tiny buds. And the ones open are now starting to show the lipstick coming through. Super cool plant. Thanks again for gifting her to me. 🤗
Nelson, Todd is right as far as I know. That beautiful Fushia cattleya is stunning. Nelson how many Vandas do you have? So stunning Nelson! Love your orchids as always. Merry Christmas to you and Louis 🎅🌲🎁🎉❄️⛄
Yes Todd is pretty spot on with the Latin names. The Cattleya is so unreal. Maria at MS Orchids told me the flower is extremely beautiful in color. She was not kidding. I don’t know how many Vandas I own, but I would safely say about 50.
Omg I really enjoyed this video. Everything looks soooooo amazing and beautiful. Your orchids put on a lovely show. Thank you. Looking foward to other videos especially with my girl orchid doc.
Hello Oneika. I love the Orchid Doc. We had such a wonderful time hanging together in Apopka, Florida. We are about to release our latest videos at Krull-Smith Orchids. Get ready for an explosion of orchid knowledge and blooms of all sorts. One Love💚
Gracias. Me alegra que te gusta los videos largos. El próximo de Krull Smith es de una hora. Espero que lea gusten. Lo veo como uno de mis mejores videos de visita de un vivero de orquídeas. 💚
I don’t know where to begin, the orchids are spectacular and so many blooms. I to watch the Jamaica doc, she’s makes everything look so easy and your right the vandas are in the sun. Hope to catch you sometime at one of the shows. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you. Hi Morris, little cutie.
Enjoyed watching your Christmas Special. Such a beautiful garden - your orchids are looking great. And, you didn't mention the bougainvillea bonsai. They are looking good as well. May you and your partner have a wonderful holiday.
Hi Pat! How are you? I did forget to mention my amazing bougainvillea bonsais. They bloomed so beautifully this year. Next time they are in bloom I gonna showcase them. The cold snap dried some of the flowers on the bougainvilleas. But spring looks very promising in my greenhouses. Lots of spikes everywhere 🤗
Never a dull moment watching your videos, thank you Nelson for always sharing your journey of growing orchids, very entertaining. Looking toward to your next video.
Thank you Phiona. Always a pleasure reading your comments. Glad my one hour specially kept you entertained. Hope to see you tomorrow at the live with Josh. 🤗

Beautiful blooms as always. Thank you Nelson. Wishing you and your love ones a Merry Christmas and a wonderful 2023! Amazing collections and supper healthy plants!🎉🎁🎄♥
Wow…. You have a huge collection. So beautiful and beautiful garden. I live in South Florida. I would love to see you do a video of Grammatophyllum. Thank you for your beautiful video. I rewatch many times even with the long video
Thank you for your great support. I’ll cover some Grammatophyllum soon. I’m not too savvy on them. I only have 2 and the leaves periodically turn yellow. They are a bit finicky with water.
In the Philippines, Anosmum is called Sanggumay from the word "nakakaumay" which somewhat means feeling sick&tired of the pungent smell.. In other areas, it is called Latigo referring to its long canes that resemble a whip
Great Video Nelson...lovely blooms..the phals are showstoppers. Also, the bougainvilleas are gorgeous...and in Ja. its fallow back a mi (follow behind me)..lol
Hello Nelson! I was missing you already. Ive been very busy, its crazy so many things going on! Anyways...I looooove your long videos not boring at all because you have always a lot to share. Amazing blooms my friend like always. Please tell me which media do you use on your bulbophyllums and your water routine on them. A repot video on that would be great. Also cant wait for the live with Josh, hopefully I have time to join you guys. 💚
Hello my friend! How are you? I’m sure very busy as your new role of grandmother. Thanks for sitting through an hour and finding it entertaining throughout. I appreciate your compliments. I have been meaning to do a repotting of the bulbophyllum. I’ve been using mainly Spag Moss. I sometimes too it off with small chips of orchiata. I’m trying it out on a couple and so far so good. I water pretty much daily. They do love that water💦 Hope to see you tomorrow at the live. 💚♥️
@@naturenel believe it or not I have a lot of free time at work 🤣. Thats pretty much same care I give my bulbs I dont know why they wont grow nor bloom. Thank u Nelson, I will for sure pass by tomorrow to say HI 👋
What beautiful flowers all around! I missed the live yesterday, as I'm 6 hours ahead and I was at a friend's birthday party that ran past midnight, but I'm looking forward to seeing it later tonight after I got some chores done. I currently only have two dendrobiums in total (berry oda and a big nobile type that's in fullbloom) but I'm looking into getting more. Your green... goblin... I forgot the name, your queen is amazing as always, btw. Have fun with everything that's to come over the weekend - I already forgot half of it 😅
Thank you Tina! We plan to do more in the future. So no worries. There will be other opportunities. You were referring to Dendrobium Green Flash. She is always in full bloom. She’s my little girl.🤗 I do love Dendrobiums. 💚
Hi Nelson 😊💕Really enjoyed the video today. Get so much inspiration seeing the beautiful blooms🤩. I'm looking forward to more videos especially when you meet Orchid Doc from Jamaica. Merry Christmas Nelson, thank you for keeping us enthusiastic about our orchids all year long, I dont think I missed any of your videos. I wish you a prosperous 2023.
GOSH Nelson, your orchids look GREAT, especially all those wonderful Vandas !!!! I can be so jealous of your Florida climate, we have a minus 10 at night here at the moment, and fear for the heating system to let me down.... Anyway, you inspire me to get this Epicattleya Volcano Trick, it looks sooo beautiful. Keep up the good work, great video & hello from The Netherlands!!! AM = Award of Merit :)
Thank you Philip. We are super blessed here in South Florida. But we do have to deal with this en nasty hurricanes. This time of year is great. I shot this at the golden hour when the sun sets early. So the colors are warm and the sky is cloudless. Hope you stay warm throughout this season. I lived in the Midwest for several years and it was really cold. The Volcano Trick is awesome. Mine is just starting to open. Once it fully open it will be a show. Thanks for the compliments and all your support. Cheers mate! 🥂
I feed from early spring to late summer with 20-20-20 and Cal-Mag. I do 3 weeks of light feeding once a week. Mix only 1/2 teaspoon per gallon when doing a weak mix to feed weekly. It’s what’s called a “weakly weekly feeding program”. On the 4th week feed them only a full mix of 1 teaspoon per gallon of Bloom Booster 10-30-20. After the 4th week feeding, start all over again. You can give breaks here and there. Once they are in bud you don’t need to feed as much. And definitely no bloom booster if you already have buds. It can burn them. It’s happened to me.
Yes I want a yellow splash when you split it. That orchid is beautiful. I hope you and your family have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Do you put the rooting hormone in the fertilizer during the winter or leave it out. I love your videos.
Hi Nancy! I’m looking into learning how to culture orchids. Sounds a bit heavy in the requirements, but doable. I plan to clone my Yellow Splash some day. I have to wait to see when I can do it. I only do 20-20-20 fertilizer in the winter if it’s not cold. I do a full dosage of 1 teaspoon per gallon once a month. I do not add anything else. I add Cal-Mag and bloom booster in early spring and late summer. Here in Miami it’s hot almost all year round so we get away with more fertilizer throughout the year. If you have them in controlled temperatures, than you could pretty much feed all year round. Keep in mind if you don’t have allot of space, the more you feed, the bigger they get. It’s not just for blooms. Have a wonderful New Year🥂
@@naturenel gained a little knowledge today. Thought I would share. Sweet Fragrance is the better known Oncedium. Sharry Baby Red Fantasy is the one like yours. I ordered one!!! It will prob be hard to grow and I will kill it. Wish me luck.
Always enjoy your videos and orchids 😅 I live central Florida and I feel in summer is so hot , have just the 50% shade sheet is enough? Or I have to do something extra? I’m scared to they get fryer by the hot sun 😢
I use a 70% UV screen. Perhaps the 50% is not protecting enough for some orchids. If you only have Vandas, Mokara, Rinanthera, or Epidendrums under that, you should be okay. All other orchids may suffer under 50%
Hi Nel, towards the last 6 min of this video. You stand almost behind a tree with long orchids tight around a tree. What’s the name of the orchid? I won a long piece from Boca Raton orchids society one night but don’t know what to do. I did tight on my palm with no pot or anything
Phals need to be watered often. I always check the medium. If it’s moist, leave it alone. I keep in a bright place in my Quicktent greenhouse. They prefers that environment. I also feed 20-20-20 every week in spring thru summer at 1/2 a teaspoon per gallon. It’s best to use Spag Moss as a medium, or New Zealand Spagnum Moss.
I use 1/2 teaspoon to a gallon of 20-20-20 and the same amount to a gallon of Cal-Mag. I feed once a week for 3 weeks. On the 4th week I only feed Bloom Booster 10-30-20. I do this from early spring all the way through late summer, early fall.
Wish my orchids were beautiful as your I always watch your videos laz blanca

Hi Nel, beautiful ;)) please make mention of what you use to plant each Orchid in, eg. orchid mix, spagnum moss or?? from Sydney Australia.
Ok will do. 👍🏼
What do you do to have those blooming, yo tengo mis orquídeas afuera como tu, y no estan asi de floreadas.
Have a wonderful New Year🥂
I got my dendrobium yellow splash red from Seattle orchids 👍 I don’t know if they’re still in stock tho
My buds all blasted. Something got to it and munched on all the buds. I believe it’s a night bug.
What is the name of the red Sharry baby and where can I find one? LOVED the long video. Must be wonderful to be surrounded by such beauty.
That one came without a tag. I got it at the Redland Flea Market. It’s a Oncidium Sherry Baby “Sweet Fragrance”.
I did tight on my palm with no pot or anything
crucifix orchid perhaps?
How to you care for your phals?
Phals need to be watered often. I always check the medium. If it’s moist, leave it alone. I keep in a bright place in my Quicktent greenhouse. They prefers that environment. I also feed 20-20-20 every week in spring thru summer at 1/2 a teaspoon per gallon. It’s best to use Spag Moss as a medium, or New Zealand Spagnum Moss.
What fertilizer u use❤🇰🇳
I use 1/2 teaspoon to a gallon of 20-20-20 and the same amount to a gallon of Cal-Mag. I feed once a week for 3 weeks. On the 4th week I only feed Bloom Booster 10-30-20. I do this from early spring all the way through late summer, early fall.
@@naturenel / Hi Nel ,
I will try to look on line
They don’t have in my local nursery.
