Like someone else said, it’s like watching a magician. I’m from the USA and furniture like the antiquities you show us just doesn’t show up here often. The history of your pieces and how you bring them back to life is a bit mind boggling to me. And how you know which treatment is best to maintain both its history and usefulness today is amazing. And while I know it’s your profession and you’ve learned over time it’s like waving a magic wand over the item to watch. Beautiful restoration.

I just wanted to tell you that after watching the other videos in the competition, I appreciate even more your skills.
The calm and silence of your work soothes my mind.

Watched the full video also where you regild the wood. Looking at the finished chair I can imagine it in a room lit with candlelight.

I would never have thought to use all the various stuffings, layers of burlap, strings and how you sharpened the edges. Such a masterpiece. This is absolutely gorgeous.

So I liked your video and commented over an hour ago. I come back to this video to find the links to 2 channels for the chair challenge and i find my like is GONE and my comment is gone. Hope this comment goes thru to you and know how bad YT is getting.
I had said that centuries from now someone will find this chair and know there wasnt much to restore since you did such a beautiful job. I hope this comment sticks and I hope my like sticks. You are the best.
PS, i can't find your comment on the links to the other channels.

The seagrass and horsehair still mystify me.
I've never seen them in that form in nature!😼

This fascinating and extremely detailed work.
These and mattresses are right at the cusp of artisan to industrial technology.
    i.e. the extruded wire springs😺

What scares me is when you cut each piece of cloth, burlap or velvet, so close to the furniture tacks/staples.
I can't help but imagine the material separating its weave from the stress of taut cloth and coming apart at the tacks (unwoven!)
    🤔🙀

You did better, if only for the fact that there wasn't any jibber jabber, but the chair you chose was more interesting. Good job, sir.

And the trial and experimentation over the years as artisans develop the technique to place and tie down the springs, and create padding, instead of a torture device. 😹
