I like Orange amps, esp if Im going for driven british blues stuff. They seem to have the perfect sound to my ear for that.
Won't bet a Blackstar HT Stage 100, with a Digitech Bad Monkey overdrive slapped in front.
Chris Davies have to say the blackstar HT is the worst amp I own. Just doesn’t have anything remotely special about. Now I just use it on clean as a pedal platform so I don’t feel like I’ve completely wasted my money on it.
jemahl123 The Orange AD30 is an epic amplifier. There’s a reason why Jimmy Page toured with them for a while.
@@davidburke2132 Yeah, I think Peter Green's FM had AD30s, although they used Marshalls as well. Never used a blackstar I must confess. I have an AC15 for my main, but actually play my cheap orange crush more often these days.
Mark Seymour Also superb amplifiers. They just don’t do a crunch to low drive tone quite like an Orange in my opinion... but then again an Orange doesn’t really do Marshall as Mesa tones as well (or in the case of the AD30 it doesn’t do high gain at all) as those amps do either. It all depends what you play and what you like.
Well, you know what they say... the perfect number of guitars to own is + 1
The noises that came out that OR100 were truly lush. That clean channel is what a clean should sound like and more importantly that high gain tone you got with it is exactly what a rock or metal lead tone should sound like. Just a shame I will probably never be able to afford one 😂

Have you tried the trick with the reverb and footswitch? Put the footswitch in for the reverb, leave it off and turn up the reverb level. It adds depth and body to the signal.

The OR-100 is incredible
I love Orange too I have the cr120 its a solid reliable amp and solid state. My only issue with it is. If you use a 16ohm cab you really notice the volume drop. Unlike the Marshall MG100 thats just loud what ever you plug into. I also have the Crush 20LDX because its easy portable and has some nice effects built in. Its Great for Blues. Its the Oasis sound too as they used Orange gear.
To me, the Dual Dark actually sounded better WITHOUT the attenuator. Hmm., maybe I like the fizz you're talking about.
Will always love my Orange amps and will never part ways with my mk 1 Rockerverb 50 (the 6v6 powerhouse of doooooooom) but by eck that OR100 sounds blinkin incredible. I'm glad its not just me finds the reverb to be a little bit too much, but the sweet spot on it is awesome :) even better to see more geetar tomfoolery occuring again

Would it make sense to get this Rockerverb if you don't gig and just play at home with an attenuator? I like big sounding amps, but I don't know if this is just too much
I own a RV MKII and honestly the master volume on it works incrediblely well. At three on the knobs it is loud but not deathly loud. I would recommend it. And honestly give it reduced output tubes.

I've always liked Orange amplifiers, the only thing is that I'm never in a situation where I can put up their volume to make them sound their best so I've stayed away from them. Great comparisons.
attenuator through a barefaced cab, the speaker always feels like it's loud in those things. love orange amps, probably what i'd use if i didn't use modelling
I thought the first one sounded better without the attenuator, seemed more fizzy to me with it on ha!

played a Satchel sig through an Orange combo amp, cant for the life of me remember the model, when i was in a guitar store some time back. absolutely fell in love with the tones. not sure if it was more to do with the Fishman pickups, but that duo worked incredible together i was blown away
Or100 is still my dream amp since i tried on when I was 20.

I have the Amplitube IV Orange Amps Pack. For someone like me that dabbles at home only and does a bit of recording it makes a lot of sense.
Hugh Orange fan. I’ve got the of them, all SS or hybrid but some day I hope to own a Rockerverb. I will say that OR100 was amazing. Just picked up a CR120 head and loving it.

Never played through an Orange. We have an Orange showroom in Nashville. I should go there sometime. I liked the Dual Dark. I could do something with that.

Thanks man, and one last thing Rob when it comes to all the BS you've been dealing with I just want to let you know man, I've been a subscriber with you forever. I've been subscribed for a while man LOL I'm not going anywhere. I'm 30 years old now I'm pretty sure I've been subscribed since I was about 22? I've been around here since you were making videos in your bedroom and you had dreadlocks. LOL anyway man I just want to let you know I really appreciate your videos. I know you do these out of the goodness of your heart. I was there when you bought your new house I was there when you met your wife and I was there when you bought the PRS for your newborn son. (At least I feel like I was) Anyway I just wanted to let you know that I love you brother keep doing what you doing, and even through all the BS I'm confident you're a good guy and everything was blown way out of proportion. I haven't really played on a regular basis for 20 years or so.
I want to start up again, and have been searching around for what guitar I should buy. There's a lot of beginner guitar advice out there, but not for what I would call a re-beginner 😁
I simply cannot make up mind, I have owned Stratocaster's and similar. Never really played Les Paul and similar. Would like to have a humbucker and two single coil setup, around 500 to 600 budget.
Any tips?
Yamaha revstar range has a couple of phenomenal humbucker options for half Gibson money. Worth a look, they're not rare so you're likely to be able to get a try before you buy in most places without to much leg work.

Mentioned it because I'm after a p90 loaded electric myself, I've played a p90 revstar and it's exceptional for the price. However I've just learned that from 2020 Epiphone are now 1:1 Gibson copies just with cheaper manufacturing and components. They seem pretty exceptional on first look. Not tried one but if they're in a store you can get too it's almost certainly worth your time to check out a 2020 Epiphone Les Paul. Happy shopping.😁

Ordered an amp and some other bits and bobs, so hopefully by next Monday I shall be all plugged in and playing again.

You could try changing the reverb tank Rob to a Shorter one or with less springs. Plenty on Ebay or Amazon
Put some damping material on the tank chassis (dynamat) and make sure the mounting points are on soft rubber standoffs. That should take care of the feedback issues, another trick is to add some damping to the springs although if after the first two solutions don't work another tank might be a better idea. I blame the pre master volume era Orange, Hi Watt, and Marshall amps for my hearing loss.

Paul Wells I get it but imagine having that in your living room ? Just an eyesore imho ... tone wise they are great ...however I just wish they’d class it up a bit like the black one is sweet why not do a saddle brown leather kinda cab and keep the orange faceplate bright and flashy ?
I'm more than happy with my cheap Peavey Bandit Silver and CRATE GT212 stacked dry-wet. There's a sweet spot with reverb and channel 2 on the CRATE that really complements the Bandit T-Dynamic

Never liked Oranges. They sound terrible and dirty (in a bad way) IMHO. This one confirms it again for me. Nice vid though ;)
I think this video sadly doesn't do justice to them. The recording makes all of these great amps sound off to me.
Not saying anything here would have changed your mind, but I don't think this is reflective of the sound of the amps.
Recording amps always change their sound, and it's a massive science getting it right, and I personally doubt this video got it completely right.
Not everyones going for the same sound, the fact that you called it terrible to me just says, not my cup of tea because its not a specific dislike, like too dark or bright or whatever. Dont let people give you shit for that, i am not big on marshalls and people just assume you arent allowed to take a stance like that because of how popular a brand is.
