@chrisboucher2693 Why? The whole point was to get him to win games for their old college team where Mrs. Tuohy had been a cheerleader and Mr. Tuohy had been a football player during college. Adopting him would make him eligible to try to inherit their money and kill them for their money from their careers, which was about ten times more than a pro football player makes. Oher is the one who was greedy and trying to get his hands on their money.
Yeah that is exactly what I was thinking. Hopefully we all find out for his sake, it's unbelievable how far people will go for control of other peoples money.
Comments are very one sided. Oher seems to think millions were made from the movie. The bulk of the money earned was from the book. Oher received an equal share of that money. There were royalties of 2 percent(?) which was divided up among the Touey’s. I don’t know if Oher received that. The Touey’s say he refused check that were offered to him and they put the money in an account for his son. They never participated in signing any of his football contracts. If they were trying to control him and take money wouldn’t they have done that? Clearly the truth is somewhere in the middle and bad legal advice might have been what propelled some of the decisions.
As conservators they had a fiduciary duty to Michael Oher, and since they turned in no yearly statements for Oher's financial affairs they will struggle to prove fiduciary duty and most likely try to settle with Oher. Oher told the media he refuses to settle, but wants the Tuohys to show the receipts. The Tuohys reputation is toast.
In the movie the family is already rich and well known in their community. That’s true. Will he be a football player if the family didn’t know him? I don’t think so… The timing is definitely off.. It’s all faith, I hope everything will be put in their proper places

I can’t wait for this whole story comes out. The Tuohy’s were multimillionaires when they took him. They did not need his money. He ends up marrying a cafeteria worker he met at Ole Miss. He did not have what it took to make it in the NFL for the long run. Some of us CAN make 30 million dollars last the rest of our lives. That’s hard to do when you’re accustomed to living like money is no object. His wife thought the Tuohy’s thought they were better than her. They did not. They were self made millionaires who tried to guide him so that he would never have to worry about money. They did not attend his huge lavish million dollar wedding. They recently decided to retire selling several of their franchises. They have plenty of money. Mrs Tuohy always worked, even though they didn’t need the money. Michael’s wife works hard spending his money. You do the math. It was a shake down. Shame on you Michael. You know in your heart, as well as your mind, how ALL this went down.
Micheal Oher would be in a jail cell or dead if it wasn’t for the Tuohy’s. That beautiful, loving, caring white family took him in helped him graduate college and helped him start a career in the NFL making millions him self. There is no way he would of accomplished any of that if it wasn’t for that family. How dare him. They said they did split the earnings from the movie equally with the family. They have a net worth of little over $100 million. There is no way that family will try and steal $350,000 that he’s claiming from him. I bet they are heart broken over this bullshit.
Soooo you really think that women taught him how to play football? They used and manipulated him. He was 16 not 2 when they met him, he against all odds had established him self as a hard working athlete. The white saviour narrative your so found of dosen't apply here. He single handedly ruined his image and is using this as a retirement plan. Disgraceful. That family did nothing but love and support him.
Damn 20 years
Same thing happened to Brittany Spears.
No, first of all he went back he went to jail. Did you know that look that one up you might wanna look into the story before you add your opinion
@@Kh-7777 - I don’t need to look up anything. Him going to jail doesn’t give those people the right to lie to him and have him sign documents under false pretense. If you support what those people did to him then something is seriously wrong with you and it only speaks to what kind of person you are. I see you.
@@CreoleLadyBug sweetheart believe as you want but there are actually good people out there and they’re one of them. His career ended and he threatened them over money because they had money from their franchise. They didn’t need the little measly hundred thousand dollars that they made from the movie which way I believe what you want.
Modern day slavery.
So when was he forced to do labor without pay?
the 20 odd years those thieving yt people had control of his money genius
@@Fm4lg Sorry but NO. In Tennessee there are 3 basic kinds of conservatorships:
- Conservatorship of *Estate* . The authority to manage a person's finances.
- Conservatorship of *Person* . The authority to handle their personal health and life decisions.
- Conservatorship of *Person & Estate* . Authority over both.
The Tuohys picked the *Conservatorship of Person* with Michael Oher. Straight from Oher's lawsuit
_"On December 7, 2004, the Honorable Judge Robert Benham granted the petition, entering the Order Appointing _*_Conservators of the Person_*_ , making the determination that Michael was in need of supervision, protection, and assistance and that he should not be able to make contract decisions on his own."_
If they were EVER after his (future) money, then why did they pick the one where they have NO CONTROL over his finances?
He made ALL of his own contract decisions, so the only thing this conservatorship was *ever* used for was to satisfy the NCAA.
Slavery?? Dude makes 35 million in the NFL....has a 6 million dollar mansion in Tennessee.....made more $$$ writing books and endorsement of which he kept all the proceeds...... what am I missing?
Turn off the read the comment above you it’ll tell you the truth
If You Truly Love Someone....Then You Adopt them 😢. Sad. The Only Money should have come from Foster Care Only...and What Mike desired to give to them once he became Famous should he choose to do so or not.
He was an adult. They were only trying to help him get on their old college football team in Mississippi though they were all in Tennessee. A way to do that is have them as graduates of that school become his conservators. They never had control of his money. It was a different kind of conservatorship that didn't include his finances. He always controlled his own finances. He thinks that they are keeping part of his fifth of the money for the Blind Side, but they only received less than a million dollars for that and gave him his fifth already. He doesn't understand that movie studios and publishers don't pay much to the people who are portrayed in their stories.
@@Mary_Thompsondo you know them?
@@mus434 No, I've never met them and don't need to meet them to know. I've researched this with many news sources.
@@Mary_ThompsonAdult adoption is allowed in Tennessee. They should have adopted him.
@chrisboucher2693 Why? The whole point was to get him to win games for their old college team where Mrs. Tuohy had been a cheerleader and Mr. Tuohy had been a football player during college. They are superfans of college football. They are not greedy for money. They've never taken any of his money. Adopting him would make him eligible to try to inherit their money and kill them for their money from their careers, which was about ten times more than a pro football player makes. Oher is the one who was greedy and trying to get his hands on their money.
So what did these people do with his money?
Yeah that is exactly what I was thinking. Hopefully we all find out for his sake, it's unbelievable how far people will go for control of other peoples money.
Blow it on vacations wine and dance and houses
I would LOVE to know who’s presidential campaign they donated to. That should tell you all you need to know
@@OhDatsFine they’re registered Republicans…. So probably Trump.
They gave it to him.
They use Michael as a Big Dummy
Comments are very one sided. Oher seems to think millions were made from the movie. The bulk of the money earned was from the book. Oher received an equal share of that money. There were royalties of 2 percent(?) which was divided up among the Touey’s. I don’t know if Oher received that. The Touey’s say he refused check that were offered to him and they put the money in an account for his son. They never participated in signing any of his football contracts. If they were trying to control him and take money wouldn’t they have done that? Clearly the truth is somewhere in the middle and bad legal advice might have been what propelled some of the decisions.
Gold diggers
Oher is the gold digger. The Tuohys have never taken any of his money. He's a damned liar, and he's too stupid to do math.
Should of left him where he was
Good movie
This dude would be nothing without the Tuohy family. He would have been right near his momma.
Hopefully, he won't take that family to coirt again because he's now broke, again! 🧐👎😳
@@Cakebattered Time will tell.
In the movie the family is already rich and well known in their community. That’s true. Will he be a football player if the family didn’t know him? I don’t think so…
The timing is definitely off..
It’s all faith, I hope everything will be put in their proper places
He was already in football as well with prospects.. the movie was embellished a lot
He was already at top recruit prospect when they met him. They latched onto him because they saw he was going places, he would’ve played d1 football, regardless.
@@prima-madalinaActually not, his grades would have prevented that if they had not helped him with tutors and other support. They helped him on the chance that he would get into college and be successful in football and the further chance he would be drafted by the NFL? That would s a lot of ifs.
The Tuohys were locally well known and financially wealthy. Oher's story gave them a whole new level of celebrity. A level they couldn't buy with their own money. They started numerous foundations, wrote a book, and tons of speaking engagements.
They wanted him to play at their alma mater. Their friend started that book within 2 years of Michael moving in. They wanted publicity, they wanted to be the heroes.
To the "they don't need his money" narrative, I say Trump is a millionaire, but is ALWAYS asking for money from the poor & elderly...
HOW he was already a student at BRIARCREST & BEING SCOUTED as an all-American
Oher was going to be n NFL player with or without the Tuohys. Had he attended University of TN instead of Ole Miss, Oher would have actually been an even hire NFL draft pick.
