Hey Michael, I was an orphan kid lived in bad foster homes and orphanages for 18 yrs. I was a skinny white kid too small for football. Met some people when I was in college who took me in and made me part of their family. I loved them and they loved me. No money involved and there was no conservator paperwork. I am grateful for what they did for me and never asked them for anything. They were great Grandparents to my kids and my wife loved them too. They would have gladly given me anything I asked for. You landed in a good Briar Patch and you don't realize it. You need to rethink your situation and express some gratitude. Hope you see the light.

The difference between you and Michael is he's almost 40 and he STILL has a conservatorship on him. They can snoop on his finances anytime they please.
He has the right to get that off of him. It's not shameful to ask for that. Also it's not a good look to tell someone a conservatorship is basically the same as adoption. It's not. He's never been legally part of the family. To add more salt to the wound, the movie made him look like a dumb dumb. He feels betrayed. Try to understand him.

They most likely put it in place to protect him from his real family who according to the movie were not great people. If they had not taken him in he would most likely be on drugs and running with gangs , they put him through school and helped him with his career , homed and fed him, put clothes on his back but most of all they gave him a loving family . First they made nothing from the movie than they made 14 000 each than they made 100 000 each. Their story changes in every statement they and their attorney makes. He's has remained consistent. He said they tricked him into believing a conservatorship is an adoption. They dont deny it, just come up with justifications that keep changing. I dont have to live with them to form an opinion . I just have to read and listen to their ever changing statements. Im forming an opinion based on what they are saying after he filed his petition which they are claiming is a lawsuit which is also a lie. I went on to "pay it forward" and I hope Michael will soon see the light and do the same. Michael spend a few weeks on Skid Row. Become a foster parent. Help others. It is your duty to pay it forward instead of being greedy and playing the victim over and over. Had you done any of these things, your next book would have been a big hit. I would never dream of trashing the family that gave me a new life. Michael shame on you. You have much to be grateful for. It’s not like he was Pooky off the streets.
Coincidentally, the wealthy BOOSTERS moved into their home the All American poor black kid who had all kinds of notoriety in sports at their kids school (he was 38th in the NATION) and he just so happened to end up going to their alma mater where they are BOOSTERS.

The Tuohy's were worth several hundred million dollars when they opened up their home to Michael Oher. Who do you think paid the tuition costs for that very elite Briarwood private school that they somehow got him into? They hired tutors to work with him because he had no GPA that would allow him to even graduate from high school much less attend a university. Mr. Oher had serious problems. Only he knows why he is trying to shake down the only real family he has ever had. Everything Michael Oher has had or ever will have is made possible through the love and generosity of the Tuohy's. Guess what? Had the Tuohy family never crossed paths with Michael Oher, they would still be worth several hundred million dollars today. What if Michael Oher had never been taken in by the Tuohy family. There would no All-American LT who attended Ole' Miss on a full ride athletic scholarship. He would not have been a #1 draft choice of the Baltimore Ravens. He would have not been named as an All Pro several times during his career. There would be no Super Bowl ring on his finger. Yes, Michael earned those honors and all that money due to his talent, however, had the Tuohy's not brought him into their family and provided him with the education and opportunities critical to his overall success, he would have never gotten out of the streets of Memphis. Michael had 14 years to make these claims. Why did this not happen in 2010?. If he was cut out of the movie profits then he should have complained back then. Michael had a long NFL career. He made plenty of money. Michael is just trying to grab some cash and sell his latest book. Shame on Michael. He needs to be examined for signs of post concussion syndrome. Jason is a good man. Oher knew it was a conservatorship he signed, by his own admission in his 2011 book. Likewise his mom knew as by legal standpoint his mom had to be notified of it so if she so chose to object the Touhys, she could. She did not and was in court when the Touhys were appointed. It has been said countless of times in articles why conservatorship happened vs adoption. Likewise, another reason not stated but damn sure it was thought about is if the Touhys adopted that would have stripped his mom of her parental rights.
The fact that Oher negotiated his own NFL contract, which he wouldn’t have been able too if the Touhys actually acted on their conservatorship rights. He wouldn’t have even negotiated his own book deal for crying out loud. Zip nothing. As for the book and the blindside movie, financial evidence is easy to find and investigate, but it was both of their story not just Oher so no surprise there that the Touhys got a slice too!
