Hey Michael, I was an orphan kid lived in bad foster homes and orphanages for 18 yrs. I was a skinny white kid too small for football. Met some people when I was in college who took me in and made me part of their family. I loved them and they loved me. No money involved and there was no conservator paperwork. I am grateful for what they did for me and never asked them for anything. They were great Grandparents to my kids and my wife loved them too. They would have gladly given me anything I asked for. You landed in a good Briar Patch and you don't realize it. You need to rethink your situation and express some gratitude. Hope you see the light.
The difference between you and Michael is he's almost 40 and he STILL has a conservatorship on him. They can snoop on his finances anytime they please. He has the right to get that off of him. It's not shameful to ask for that. Also it's not a good look to tell someone a conservatorship is basically the same as adoption. It's not. He's never been legally part of the family. To add more salt to the wound, the movie made him look like a dumb dumb. He feels betrayed. Try to understand him.
They most likely put it in place to protect him from his real family who according to the movie were not great people. If they had not taken him in he would most likely be on drugs and running with gangs , they put him through school and helped him with his career , homed and fed him, put clothes on his back but most of all they gave him a loving family . He’s ungrateful
Michael Oher is now consumed by the social justice warriors who have managed to convince him that a family that took him into their home where they had little children, got him a car and give him their trust were doing it all for themselves and not for him
It is sad that this event will probably serve as a deterrent for many well intentioned families that won't want to take the risk of helping neglected kids from the streets.
People who genuinely take in kids from the goodness of their heart aren't deterred by this kind of stuff. They do it because they feel a need to do it no matter what. That is true alturism, not look at me I took in a "bad" kid.
If they are well intentioned; nothing will deter them. Good people don't make excuses. A fireman will run into a burning building over and over again...
@@rhondafortson5205 I don't know why . Stop treating people like victims and maybe they'll stop acting like victims. I could never stand the "White Savior" complex. The government is part of the problem
Maybe the Tuohy family need to do an account of what it cost them for , school, food, clothing, accomodation, sports, tutors etc and send him an account of what he owes.
They did they’re attorney provided, will be or already provided paperwork. If they hired a “smoking gun” atty which Megan said they did for defamation they’re in good hands. Sounds like the Family is just protecting their reputation and not counter suing him which shows to me that they still care for him probably hurt by all this nonsense crap. I truly believe @michaelohr has been maybe is being guided wrong.
Very sad that this family is being hurt by a young man they truly wanted to help and took in as family. He is a liar and pathetic!!!!!!! He turned into a loser and needs money. Shame on him!
I can tolerate a great deal of bad behaviour, but ungratefulness? NO. Can't stand these people. No matter how you look at this story, the dude is ungrateful. And that's very bad.
@@puidemare2337 Same as you, which is why you have an opinion a side and a comment. First they did it because they couldnt adopt an 18 year, now its because they were time bound. First they made nothing from the movie than they made 14 000 each than they made 100 000 each. Their story changes in every statement they and their attorney makes. He's has remained consistent. He said they tricked him into believing a conservatorship is an adoption. They dont deny it, just come up with justifications that keep changing. I dont have to live with them to form an opinion . I just have to read and listen to their ever changing statements. Im forming an opinion based on what they are saying after he filed his petition which they are claiming is a lawsuit which is also a lie. A petition to terminate a conservatorship is not a lawsuit like they are trying to make people believe.

@@kathleenwisialowski4558 or it's that his lawyer is too smart financially, and is holding Michael on a leash to stir up the pot to make more lawyer hours.
One of the things everyone has forgotten is, this is not solely Michael's story. This is the story of the Tuohy family also. There would be no story with out them. Michael never would have gotten a schlorship to any university with out their support, or the tudors they funded. He had a GPA that was way too low to qualify not only for a scholarship, but also college admissions. He likely would not have finished high school. The Tuohys traveled that road by Michael's side and held him up the whole time.
This is false. Michael was already at the school, and scouts were watching him. He didn’t live on the street - another family was caring for him, and doing a good job. He also wasn’t a bad student. So…isn’t that rather the point?
@@SuperStella1111 I don't know if you watched the entire video here but the blindside book claims his GPA was under 1 and he had an IQ around 80. The book also claims that they had to read aloud to him so he could finish book reports and hire a tutor to "catch him up". It's ok. I've had family where adoption turned into a curse. It's the ugly side of adoption. It's good if you can do it, but it does go very badly for some people.

I have never liked this movie because I knew that Michael was an All American football player prior to moving in with this family so the depiction of him was totally bogus. He also could read and write! If he wasn’t an All American player at this private school, do you really think that they would have moved him into their home? It’s not like he was Pooky off the streets. Coincidentally, the wealthy BOOSTERS moved into their home the All American poor black kid who had all kinds of notoriety in sports at their kids school (he was 38th in the NATION) and he just so happened to end up going to their alma mater where they are BOOSTERS. Both my brother and I competed on the collegiate level with full scholarships (football and basketball) and I know all to well the things that “boosters” do to get a player to go to their school. They buy cars, houses, get family members jobs, and so on - all illegal. It’s pretty wild. This family took it to an entire new level!

Yep. Michael Oher was enrolled in a private high school and playing football/Basketball and a 5star recruit before even meeting the Tuohys. Sean Tuohy was just a typical booster. Love had nothing to do with his relationship with the Tuohys.
The Tuohy's were worth several hundred million dollars when they opened up their home to Michael Oher. Who do you think paid the tuition costs for that very elite Briarwood private school that they somehow got him into? They hired tutors to work with him because he had no GPA that would allow him to even graduate from high school much less attend a university. Mr. Oher had serious problems. Only he knows why he is trying to shake down the only real family he has ever had. Everything Michael Oher has had or ever will have is made possible through the love and generosity of the Tuohy's. Guess what? Had the Tuohy family never crossed paths with Michael Oher, they would still be worth several hundred million dollars today. What if Michael Oher had never been taken in by the Tuohy family. There would no All-American LT who attended Ole' Miss on a full ride athletic scholarship. He would not have been a #1 draft choice of the Baltimore Ravens. He would have not been named as an All Pro several times during his career. There would be no Super Bowl ring on his finger. Yes, Michael earned those honors and all that money due to his talent, however, had the Tuohy's not brought him into their family and provided him with the education and opportunities critical to his overall success, he would have never gotten out of the streets of Memphis. That's a fact.
So if this family was so generous and loving of "disadvantaged" kids, why did they only help one kid? How do you know he wouldn't have been successful? You seem to be able to tell the future. I have two friends who came from broken home families, out on the street by the age of 14 but they are two of my most successful friends today.
Wow.. you just said it all. Thank you
The difference between you and Michael is he's almost 40 and he STILL has a conservatorship on him. They can snoop on his finances anytime they please.
He has the right to get that off of him. It's not shameful to ask for that. Also it's not a good look to tell someone a conservatorship is basically the same as adoption. It's not.

Oh please after 24 years
The family didn't love him like their own. Please. If they did they would have adopted him when he was underage or still could have adopted him when he was over the age of 18. They took ONE kid with athletic skills under their wings. You do the math. My grandma didn't have much in terms of money but she feed and took care of many of the kids in her community. She was loved and respected by everyone. That's love
If he was dumb he never would have made it. People struggle but the dumb ones give up.
@@savvysaleslady You ABSOLUTELY CAN adopt someone over 18. They just have to agree to it. And they DID go to his actual family prior to doing anything.
Imagine thinking everything you see in a movie is real 😂😂 gullible fool at its finest
Michael Oher has shown he’s not one bit grateful for what the Tuohy’s have done for him.
Michael Oher why? Why? Kids across this country pray to have a family and a chance in life. Your story gave them hope. Why Michael? Why?
This man has done his homework and makes more sense than any other channel I’ve seen. No more confusion for me
Please, he has not done his homework. Emily Baker has done her homework but this knucklehead just acts like a know it all
This story epitomises the self obsessed, self entitled, unappreciative culture we live in today.😒🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
Yep, ungratefulness 😞
I think the story of Michael
Oher is one of an ungrateful person who was not appreciative of the help that was given to him when he was poor and in the ghetto.
Wait didn’t the touihys hired a tutor? Maybe she can vouch that Michael was illiterate
@@jdos5643 his .06 GPA his junior year vouches for that. A product of no child left behind.
He blew his money is what it says to me.
Man, that's gratitude for you, this dude is a real sweet heart, trying to cash in on all the BS going on now days.
This is going to scare a lot of families away from taking in kids from the foster system.
In short, he is screwing over the family that took him in. FOR MONEY.....Shame on you MO
The Tuohys dodged a bullet by not adopting Oher.
Indeed
Then why conserve him and why is he still under conservatorship?

He made plenty of money. Michael is just trying to grab some cash and sell his latest book. Shame on Michael. He needs to be examined for signs of post concussion syndrome. Jason is a good man. Now i understand why so many people prefer to adopt a dog or a cat.
Nothing has ever been brought up about the family interfering in any contract he's made as an adult. He had his career, got married and had children, and seemed to continue a good relationship with the Tuohy family. Now that he needs to keep his name in the spotlight to promote his book, publisher PR perhaps, he's been abused.
💯
Awareness is one thing, honesty and fairness is quite another.
This is sad that Michael Oher is turning on his family that gave him opportunities he may never have had- it breaks my heart that he’s now dumping on them 😢😢😢
No good deed goes unpunished…ask the Kaepernick family.
Or Jane Austen whom that quote is from.
OMG! Don't seek the common denominator, please!!! 😔
You really think MO at 18 had the ability to manage contracts or any financial agreement? Come on Tuohy haters they don’t or did need his money. It’s been 24 years Michael?
How do you know he didn't have the ability? Do you know him? Do you think just because you've heard narratives and watched a movie that you know his abilities? Do tell us why if the family "loved" him he wasn't adopted? And please don't say because he was 18
@@puidemare2337
Oher knew it was a conservatorship he signed, by his own admission in his 2011 book. Likewise his mom knew as by legal standpoint his mom had to be notified of it so if she so chose to object the Touhys, she could. She did not and was in court when the Touhys were appointed. It has been said countless of times in articles why conservatorship happened vs adoption. Likewise, another reason not stated but damn sure it was thought about is if the Touhys adopted that would have stripped his mom of her parental rights.
The fact that Oher negotiated his own NFL contract, which he wouldn’t have been able too if the Touhys actually acted on their conservatorship rights. He wouldn’t have even negotiated his own book deal for crying out loud. Zip nothing. As for the book and the blindside movie, financial evidence is easy to find and investigate, but it was both of their story not just Oher so no surprise there that the Touhys got a slice too!
Don’t sh*t in the hands of those that fed you, clothed you, supported you, looked out for you.
Yes and it’s crazy he is still under conservatorship after 24 years. It never ended which is why the royalty checks from the movie still go to them and not MO.
@@amazingsylvie1474you don't know where royalties actually go & MO could have ended the conservatorship as an adult at anytime ..
Hmmm. Mr. Oher got a college education and several million in his resulting NFL career. How much did he share with the Tuochy’s?
What did the Tuohys do for Michael Oher that any other college booster hasn't done for a 5 star recruit?
Probably zero. If he did, he would have mentioned it.
@@Cakebattered Did you even listen to this video? Oher was NOT a 5-star recruit when they took him in.

When the game checks stop it is amazing how these guys learn nothing in college and go broke so fast.
It’s pretty simple. He ran out of money. How ungrateful he is to the family that brought him out of poverty.

Someone has been "whispering" in Oher's ear he deserves millions from the Tuohy family, and he's been convinced this is the just thing to do. Given the racial environment going on, he's been convinced it is a just motion.
I hope this doesn’t discourage others from helping the less fortunate. The movie inspired me to foster several kids and coach little league players
I cannot fathom that he is doing this to the family that helped him with EVERYTHING!!!! Ungrateful to the Max! I hope the Tuohy Family wins

It’s so gross that he is mentioning a small fire in his house that was extinguished and stopped while they ppl from Maui had to deal with no water, no alarms to alert them, no escape because the roads were blocked and their homes were all gone. It gives a whole new definition to the words blind side. I can’t imagine the grief this entire family feels over this. I’ve always wanted to take in less fortunate children.. my own young son was worried about it and begged me not to do it. I fear this will make many think twice.
Greed is an awful thing!!! I would have no interest in a Blindsided movie. The Tuoys didn't need anything from him. They worked hard for their money.
, I also live in TN, do not personally know them, but I’ve only ever heard positive remarks in their name. And yes, they have been successful and did well for themselves.. long before this saga. Just a gut punch. Sometimes when the very neediest people come into a large money stream, they don’t know restraint or how to handle it. When it runs dry, they blame others or go looking for more. @@BobbiGail , some very good advice you’ve given here. I think I’ve missed my window. We had a local family fostering teens. They organized a group to come kill the parents and rob them. You guys could just ask someone in Oxford/Ole Miss… We could have told you most of this years ago. Sean T. recently sold his business for $200 million. Michael married someone who convinced him he deserved more money. That it.
Sean T. sold part of his business interested for close to 200 million. Apart from his business interested, I also find it odd that all was well until his wife came into the picture. Michael needs to tread lightly and have a good lawyer with financial experience evaluate the entire picture before he proceeds with handing over control to his wife.
The Tuohy family did alot for him. I doubt he would have made it without their help. I wonder where his 11 siblings are now. I’m sure the Tuohy are really hurt by his actions. Disgraceful!!

Why now? Without the tuohys, there’s no Michael Oher. No one wants a Sequel. 2011, we are already over it.
I’m blindsided.
Interview is well done. Jason has done his homework and given a neutral but honest account. Between Child Protective Services, school records and many involved people all the accounts of Michaels life is so easily traced. Such a hurtful shame.
It’s sad that Michael decided to make go this way, instead of helping others like he was helped.
He could have sold his book and even make movies with a good and loving attitude.
This evil way won’t be allowed here in the planet anymore.
Megyn I totally agree with your shirt! I dont agree with Michael Oher's claim...question is who is putting him up to this because they want money too. Sad for sure.
This reminds me of the farmer and snake story. You can help them, love them and care for them but at the end they'll still bite you back. It's in their blood. Just leave them on the roadside.

Quiet means stupid to many. I wish they would be quiet and be considered a fool ...
I never considered Michael as being "less than" either. I felt he was given the opportunity to to flourish and grow. So many are denied these opportunities in life and this situation will do untold damage to foster care and adoption. So very sad.
You can take the kid out of the hood but you can’t remove the hood mentality out of the kid! Mr. Oher is just despicable, he should be beyond grateful for what was GIVEN to him.
