- I take the Dutch army hooped bivvy out for the first time to the Brecon Beacons in foul weather. how does it stand up to harsh welsh downpours ? #stealthcampingalliance #stealthcamping #armysurplus
Great bit of kit. Have one myself. Never tried it out in the rain. Looks like it stood up well to the elements. They have an excellent build quality to them I think. Great for stealth camps, especially in woodlands. You can barely see them against the foliage.
ATB Dan 👍
aint they incredible. im so glad i got one. thanks for watching Dan very kind..
@@outsidertank no problems mate. Enjoying the content. Keep them coming 👍
@@danhaynes3210 will do Dan. Maybe a Bergen mod going out tomoz .
Last year I came across a different version of this bivy, the Belgian. Made by Carinthia (same as some of these were) but in the funky Belgian camo. I had to have it, of course, and it is a prize bit of kit. A smaller fellow like myself can even stuff their ruck into the bivy with themselves, if it is the right size or collapsible like the German flecktarn one.
Good test there and a very pretty area!
Hey man sorry im only now seeing your comment, im going to check that one out right now. thank you..

Great content mate! Where did you get your rollmat from?
its just a standard british army roll matt Ivor but its got a DPM cover on it. i got it off ebay for 10.00..
Great Video, Why didn't you use a Poncho/Tarp as overhead cover?
Or was you just checking the bivi bag on its own for weatherproofness
Yea as its Gortex i dont see the point tbh honest roy, but i have seen it done..
It's really quite an individual thing and depends on what you want to do

It's called traversing buddy..
Noswaith dda! What are your measurements? height, weight? And can you toss and turn in this Dutch Hooped Bivvy? Can you side-sleep in it?
Overall, looking at your setup, it's pretty good - all well thought through. My setup is very similar, but with some differences - I tend to go for lighter and more minimalist setup - lots of mods and DIY. Small tip, to make the ghilly net more stealthy, try making it yourself - the manufactured ones are always "perfect" and have uniform pattern, which defeats the purpose. I did my net with bungee, so it has a variety of sizes and uses.
I'm also interested to know about your mat. Did you make it yourself? Is there a video on that?
I'm 5ft 5. And very broad. Bags of length, no problem sleeping on my side. Hope this helps..
Hey Lee. Do you still rate your Dutch army Bivi? I take it's Fecsa brand?
i regret to say i sold mine, im looking at getting another..
Fantastic effort. If its not raining we're not training
That's right my buttty..
So is it worth it and where do you recommend to buy from
100% most army surpless websites sell them. I had mine from surplus and outdoors but shop around for cheaper deals

@@Matthew-hs1qi yes it is its a great bit of kit. Might be worth looking in b+q for a cheap tarp to mate, just a thought..
@@outsidertank cheers mate I've decided to get a bigger one cut it to shape and put the eyelets in with a tool. Having problems getting one at the right size take care 👍🏻
@@Matthew-hs1qi you to buddy stay safe..
im getting this bivvy bag for my fishing trips to go inside my shelter it looks amazing hoping to get my dog in with me if he fits 😂
They are quite roomy, do you have a large dog ??
🙏🙏✌✌👍👍
Nice one thank you..
Cracking view 16 min in, see you waking up with your rape alarm around your neck 🤣, I got one of these, always wondered about the weatherproofing and tank you are the crash test dummy, you risked a potential soaking for us, what a guy. If I manage to get out I can be assured that I will be dry. I got one of those U.S Modular sleep systems av you tried one of those fella
Not the modular but using the Woobie clipped to the poncho during the warmer months..
HD 🤣
I don't know what HD refurs to but thanks for taking the time to comment 👍
