How cold will it get in the pyrenees? (I will start near Girona and will Walk the „opposite „ direction)

I hiked mid july to end of august and the coldest night I had was 4°C. Generally the heat was more a problem than the cold

Hello thanks for both videos. Hiking the GR11 is on my radar for next year. (This year we do the Camino northern route). I’m 60 and my husband is 64, we never see any older hikers in any UA-cam videos doing the GR11, and we wonder if you met or saw any older hikers?? We are wondering if we’re pushing the boundaries thinking of tackling such a hike (even though we are both fit and hike a lot)?? Your thoughts would be appreciated 🙏🏻

Hi! Amazing that you’re planning to hike the GR11! I actually hiked a few days with an older couple from Germany. I think they were a bit younger than 60 but I definitely think it is possible even if you’re 60 or older. You can always shorten your days a bit, from the terrain and difficulty you will definitely be able to hike it I think! Especially if you’re saying you are in a good shape. The trail is not really hard on its own, it’s only hard if you try to do 30+ Kilometers every day (which I do not recommend anyway) hope that helps :-)

Oh and I am just now remembering I actually met a guy in a mountain hut who was definitely above 60 and he was hiking on its own. I talked with him a bit and he always did the days exactly according to the huts and the GR11 guidebook by cicerone. I usually did 1.5 - 2 stages of the book per day, so I was faster. But if you don’t have a tight schedule that is absolutely possible!

Check out Atom Packs in Keswick, Cumbria, England. Designed by Tom Gale, a Triple Crowner...Tough materials with great features. I own 3...!! 😀

Hey thank you so much for this comment! I habe heard a lot about atom packs and already met a girl on the GR11 who had one. The only problem with products from England is the high taxes… but it might be worth a try!

@@helena_hikes I like the atom packs, get someone you know the bring it from the UK. However I also have a question. My wife and I have 2.5 weeks at the end of July, not many holidays this year. Would you recommend a section? Might be easier flight wise to start on the Mediterranean side but open to any ideas. Happy to camp. Happy to see many towns and have lunch and take it easy. We enjoyed your videos.

@@rainydayinireland my absolute favourite section was starting from Benasque eastwards. The most beautiful terrain, lots of blue and breathtaking lakes every day and amazing shelters and wildcamping opportunities! Starting here, you could probably make it 160 km into Andorra or more, depending on how far you’d like to hikes and how many zeros you’d like to take. Andorra and Benasque are both easily reachable with public transport. You could of course start from both sides either east to west or west to east. :-) it was by FAR my favourite section
