Puccini knew exactly how to draw such deep emotions from the orchestra and the voice. I have tears in my eyes for m this beautiful piece. Maestro Chailly brings it to life.

So balanced and delicate. The harp, the flute, the horns… Even the recording. Just wiped away a tear (or two). The best version of this piece I have found so far. Magic happens when talented human beings come together. Thank you for that

Meraviglioso giovane Puccini, "prima maniera": talento impressionante, linee melodiche immediate e suggestive. Orchestra perfettamente equilibrata, senza inutili manieristiche indulgenze. Il direttore? Si sente che è stato molti anni in Italia, dal 2009 al 2016, alla Sinfonica RAI di Torino. Conosce il repertorio ottocentesco, eccome!

Wunderschöne Aufführung dieses romantischen und fein komponierten Meisterwerks mit seidigen Tönen aller Streicher, milden Tönen aller Holzbläser und brillanten Tönen aller Blechbläser. Der intelligente und geniale Dirigent leitet das ausgezeichnete Orchester im flüssigen Tempo und mit angenehmer Dynamik. Einfach wundervoll!

Nur eine Frage: schreiben Sie eigentlich zu jedem Konzert das Gleiche? Vor ein paar Tagen habe ich das auch von Ihnen gelesen 🙂. Ist nicht böse gemeint, aber schon irgendwie komisch. Übrigens: ein wirklich schönes Stück des jungen Puccini. Habe ich vorher nie gehört.

Puccini´s Anfänge. Da könnt man schon erahnen, dass er mal einer der ganz großen werden würde. Wunderbar komponiert! Vielleicht auch einige Stellen gleich in Manon Lescaut übernommen.

Nice? Very nice??? What faint praise. OK, this isn't a masterpiece, but it's a delightful aside to what we normally associate with Puccini - and delightfully played - also well recorded. But if you think "nice", then I guess you are fully entitled to your opinion. 😀

Fascinating to hear all the diverse influences in this wonderful piece: Wagner one minute, Faure, Schumann, but not a lot of Italian influence, until five minutes in. But I think Wagner is the biggest influence.
