    I was wondering if some of this was sped up so thanks for clarifying in the description. I'm building a PrintNC right now and was thinking "damn that thing flies through aluminum!"

    Is your spindle 1.5 or 2.2 kw? thanks.

    Good stuff! With the many tool changes it would almost be worth it you put on an ATC spindle on this machine.

      An ATC would be awesome! I'm not sure I would see much benefit for how I pretty much run all one off parts, let alone the overall complication of integrating it into the machine. If I was making parts for hours at a time I would for sure be leaning towards that. But I do enjoy tinkering and a challenge, so might be a fun project down the road.

    Nice build! Just kinda curious, what size air compressor you're using for the mist/airblast?

      Thank you. I have a California Air Tools 4710SQ, I run about 40psi, it runs non stop if I run always on air blast, but if I cycle it on every second, I can go about one minute of air blasts and then one minute of compressor running. I wish I had a bigger compressor, but the quiet compressor is worth it.

      @@MKMilling Yeah, I've been looking at the CAT air compressors. Just trying to figure out a good one to buy that would hold up to the duty cycle needed to run air blast. Appreciate the information.

    Once you flipped the parts, how did you indicate them so you knew where they were since it doesn't look like you were using soft jaws.

      I have the corner of my vise setup as my G55 WCS, so I use that in my CAM for Zero, and then measure a known surface that I machine in the first setup to locate relative to G55.

      @@MKMilling Ok, that makes sense, I just wasn't sure what you used for a known surface off the parts considering the sides are blocked by material that needs to be removed so none of the outsides work. Did you use a hole?

      @@janderson2375 I did a finish pass on the "plug" feature that fits into the tube in the first setup, so I actually measured off of that surface as it was a known and finish machined surface.

    Is your PrintNC the standard size? What sized tubes are you using?

      It's a few inches larger than stock. Using 2x3x.120 steel.

    What are you using for mist cooling?

      Its a synthetic cutting fluid, called TRIM MIST. I have it loaded in a reservoir on top of my enclosure, with a push button valve feeding to my cheap amazon mister, so I can apply as I need throughout the program. Id like to eventually find a way to automate the metering of the fluid a bit better, but that's a long term project.

      @@MKMilling does it leave oil residue? I don't want to soak into the spoil board.

      @MKMilling  3 роки тому +2

      @@Mitch3D It will soak into MDF, that's why I swapped from an MDF spoilboard to richlite which is a resin paper product used for countertops.
