Mechanical vs sensor/wiring problem
Possible Causes of a Hyundai P1326 Code
Faulty Knock Sensor
Engine Mechanical problem
Knock Sensor harness is open or shorted or bad connection
Engine Control Module (ECM) Update
Just went through a touch-free car wash yesterday, CEL flashing and no boost all the way home. Probably just need to dry out the connector and use some dielectric grease when reassembling. Reportedly a common issue, especially with the N performance models.
Does it still act up to this day?
Did u fix the problem? If so how?? I have the same problem from a bad storm
Same i went through a puddle and got the code
@@pyroclasticflow8382 how did they fix it?? Same issue with me
My 2014 Santa Fe Sport went into "Limp Home" mode, now called “Engine Protection Mode”, and produced this code at the dealer who replaced the engine. Wife and daughter were driving the car in Nowhere, Nevada and suddenly slowed to 25MPH in front of a semi on the freeway. Lucky they survived to get a 2hr $600 tow to the nearest Hyundai dealer. So.. Hyundai KNOWS there's a problem and decides to wait until it fails in an inconvenient/dangerous location to fix it - AFTER it breaks! Not happy
I cleared this light with obd 2 and costs me only 10$
@@ahmadsabah96clearing the light doesn't solve the problem 😂
@@jonathanromero8639 the sensor read a misfire because of the poor gasoline that we have however I am using an octane booster.
I had the same thing happen to me on the Interstate. I started in the left lane, losing power, made it to the middle finally over to the slow lane and then the shoulder. I turned it off and it came back on. Trying to pull off the shoulder to get in traffic was horrible, but I made it. A few days later the engine light came on, flashing. Took it to a repair place they told me about the P1326 code. I have a Kia. I'll see what they say.
Does the warranty cover the 2019 Hyundai Tucson SE 2.0 I have the blinking engine light limp mode and the 2k rpms
I had this code and limp mode happen on day 6 of owning my 2018 Tucson. The previous owners just had the knock sensor replaced 3 months ago. I took it to the dealer who said the knock sensor is fine, it passed the bearing pressure test, and they are now telling me it's likely a pin that is broken and they need to pull the engine out to see if that is the issue! Warranty will not cover any work because it is not a rod bearing that is causing the knock sensor to go off. In your opinion, SHOULD they have to take the engine out to check/fix this "pin'?
I just got this code and flashing check engine on 2014 Santa Fe Sport. Engine was replaced 6 months ago due to recall. Yesterday I was driving in some pretty wet and windy conditions when the flashing started but I didn't notice any loss of power. Pulled over and nothing sounded off, oil was good, gas mileage has been around 33mpg. When I went to take off again that's when I could barely get to 25. RPMs struggle to get above 1500 and when I punch it, it bounces to just above 2 and then back down. I can slowly get up to 60-65 but if there's an incline or any sort... forget about it. In an attempt to just get home on a wet Sunday night in the middle of nowhere, I listened to the advice of the parts place I pulled in for code check. They said it was fuel or catty issue and to put some cleaner in. Wasn't until I got home that I was able to look the code up myself and realize they were wrong! Anyhow, would love to hear the outcome anyone else has had with this code. Trying to get anyone on the phone from the dealership today but that is proving difficult.
It was a bad knock sensor. Luckily that part is covered as part of the engine replacement. Of course my catalytic needs to be replaced too. Trying to win that war for replacement since the bad engine likely put additional wear and tear and that. We'll see!
Hello. I had the same issue 2 days ago. My engine has not been replaced. My car is running good and suddenly the speed has been limited to 60mph and maximum RPM is 2. I pulled the code and it said a knock signal range/performance. So, what I should I do now? Should I go to the dealership for any recall for that? Please reply and I need your help.
@chaitanyadanda Definitely call the dealership but also check to see if your car is under recall for anything. Mine had been and the knock sensor is covered as part of the engine replacement. If not it would have cost me around $700 to replace. You can also check for recalls using your vin on your car brand's website. Good luck!
Thank you for your response. I did check for any recalls for the vehicle in hyundai website. But there is not any due recalls that need to be done. The last 2 recalls the vehicle had, are not related to knock sensor. I don’t know how to check whether my engine has an warranty thing. I bought this car from a dealer 6 weeks ago.
@chaitanyadanda You should still be under warranty. Hyundai has a really good warranty. You can call Hyundai directly too if the dealership won't help you or you're worried about them being shady. I think the engine has a 60k warranty but don't quote me on that.
Excellent brief overview, thank you. Is Hyundai covering the cost of all this or just if the whole engine needs replacing up to 200,000km?
240000
Thanks for the info dude!
Same code. 2020 Tucson. Got it from deep puddle. Limp mode engaged. No knock. Oil good. Where does the other end of the knock sensor go to? The harness…but where in the engine compartment. Pretty sure it’s just a short.
Good afternoon! My car: Hyundai Sonata Hybrid 2017 Same error. Will your video help? Should I look for something else?
Hello. I got the same problem 2 days ago. What did you do? Is it resolved?
The check engine light started flashing at mileage 171.000 .
The mechanic removed it with his machine from the system.
The car is back ok, but I'm wondering if this P 1326 will come back and if I could keep on driving the car ?
Should I go to the Dealer to tell this story ?
Thanks for your comments.

I have this code, and the car is also stalling out when I give it some gas. Any ideas? Should I just replace the part you showed in the video?
What did you do? I have same problem
Hi, I am getting P1326 on my car and it suddenly start knocking as soon as this code come ( before that there was no noise) , I took it to dealer and they reset the code and change knock sensor but noise is still there they perform something called bearing clearance test and claim it passed so we can’t replace engine under warranty and tell me it is something related to piston walls having scratches and the noise can be because of that ( but not confirming anything) , I argue that piston noise doesn’t come overnight and only comes on startup in the beginning also if this is pistion related , car should be burning or leaking oil but they have no answer to that , I am getting a feeling that they are just giving me lame excuses to avoid warranty replacement, any suggestions please ?
They pretty much said same
Bs to me ! Trying to avoid fixing or replacing the engine ! So sad
@@aziebkaleab7617 these morons already denied to me I am preparing to sue these fraudsters in court
Just had the P1326 code on my 2014 Santa Fe Sport Turbo. I as well went thru a local touch less car wash with undercarriage spray. 15 minutes later car goes into limp mode. Could still drive it but like no power when starting to move so kinda dangerous on busy roads and the car becomes governed. I Stopped at AutoZone to get the code read and that’s when it came up “knock sensor”. I went and had the sensor replaced the next day and $750 later it’s been back to normal With no issue. Garage told me if it comes up again to take it to local Hyundai dealer to see if there is a software upgrade/recall. Seems to be disheartening as I just purchased the car used with 70,000 on it. I’ve had it for 6 weeks now and this goes on.
Exact same year as mine and I drove to Texas to pick up my sister in law. Not even 30 mins down the road from my house in Colorado it finally popped on the engine light and was harsh on the highway to get home. I took it to an Auto zone they coded it as a p1326 and now I’m looking at buying the part to fix it myself since it’s gonna cost about $3000 to fix is what I was quoted at a mechanic shop here in CO🤦🏽♀️
@@caylijenkins5313 Thats insane, what did it end up being? Knock sensor replacement?
@@caylijenkins5313Kia give you a new motor if you bring it them, these engines have lifetime warranty for this recall
My daughter's car is now having this issue. Hyundai denied the replacement knowing they used faulty engines. Were you also hearing a rattle/knocking sound?
@@BrooklynBred-es3wg when it happened to me the car runs rough just idling. And driving is running rough and sputtering…almost like it’s not running on all cylinders. Has little acceleration. The Mechanic did replace the knock sensor and no issue since. I haven’t gone thru a car wash again with it. As that seems to be one of the causes.
Thanks for the video. My 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe threw this code. It had the update to the sensor done in 2019. Took it to dealership and they replaced the sensor for $710. Should I had been charged? I’m seeing that this is on a recall and maybe shouldn’t had. I’m so confused can’t get a straight answer.
im calling about mine and they were telling me the sensor isnt covered under the warranty, just an engine replacement if you had needed one. they hopefully did an engine insepction when you took your car in with concerns about your knock sensor.
I have 2013 Hyundai Tucson check engine light is on only 15,500 miles on it is there a recall for this vehicle
I have code p1326 and when I give it gas it dies down? I literally just got car back. Drove it home & now this? Do you think the manics could've forgotten about something that would cause this code? Cuz I know they gotta take apart the manifold to get to the starter on Hyundai sonata 2018...any advise would be greatly appreciated... thanks ✌️

I have the same code made the car go into limp mode at the same time the radiator went completely empty the thing is the car never over heated i checked the thermostat and sensors they are good no water in the oil either
I think that You covered the problem
Daughter has a 2019 Hyundai and it is showing this code. Would this be something covered under engine and transmission warranty?
Do you have an update on this problem? I have a 2019 Hyundai sonata. just curious how you fixed it… If you did.
@@Giventofly1975 Took back to dealership and turned out to be a sensor which was covered both by this known issue and warranty she had on car. Be advised though, they tried to take advantage of her by suggesting other items needed to be done. She was on top of her maintenance (and had a mother that knew better) so she didn't fall into their trap
What if there is a lot of oil in the intake manifold
vibrating no knocking what can i do
I have this code. You can hear a knock when you press the pedal too much. If you put the pedal down slowly it won’t knock
I changed sensor.still having same code.
I just get the code p1326 I call Hyunday service they gives me appointment for a 2 weeks later …😢.anyone knows if after that the car is going to be repaired.?
