  • In this series, we’ll be playing as Brazil, and reforming the nation from an agrarian, authoritarian slave state into a secular constitutional monarchy under the enlightened leadership of the intelligentsia, aiming to eventually achieve universal suffrage, guaranteed liberties, and robust social welfare programs. The one caveat is that if this ends in the failure of the monarchy, then we’ll establish a conservative republic aiming to maintain stability and beat back the tide of newfangled ideological movements sweeping the world throughout the Victorian century. It will probably be a 40ish episode run all the way to 1936, but if I haven't gotten the whole thing recorded by the time the new patch comes out, we'll stop wherever I end up.
In episode thirty-nine, we focus primarily on enacting workers' protections, increasing our minimum wage by 75% and hopefully leading to a vast increase in standard of living across the country, particularly in our rapidly-industrializing rural areas. In the meantime, we continue to build up our economy, increasing outputs and generally making everything more productive. Finally, we construct ourselves a skyscraper, the first in the world, and one worthy of Brazil's position as a first-rate world power!
    Episode Timeframe: January 1931 - December 1932
Recorded in patch 1.6.2 "Blackcurrant" with all DLC enabled.
