I've always been a fan of Meryl but when I saw August: Osage County.. my god. I was *blown away*. She was AMAZING in that movie... I actually had to remind myself that it was HER acting because ?!!?!?! I can't even. There are no words to describe her talent.
It was so amazing of her to talk about Emma. Specially because, in a way, she got us thinking about the fact that the academy is now giving the youngsters nominations and notoriety and forgeting about the older actors like Tom Hanks, Emma Thompson, Judi Dench... So, so sad.
It's astonishing how beautiful Meryl still is. And wonderful to see an actress her age without all the plastic surgery (thank God!). Just shows you can be beautiful at any age.
poor Emma she totally got snubbed for the oscars. Alot of performances also got snubbed...tom hanks,Oprah Winfrey ...the movies the butler , monsters university ,and saving mr banks.They even missed the documentary black fish.Sheesh...get your act together academy.I love meryl..her relationship with Emma is hilarious
I agree that so many movies/performances got snubbed, but I don't agree with Blackfish. Blackfish had too much of a political agenda and consisted of a lot of propaganda, as much as I was moved by the subject matter.
I'm sorry I don't mean to start an argument, just stating my opinion that The Butler was not worthy of a nomination for anything. It was a mediocre movie at best, it was nothing but a popcorn tv-movie mixed with a history lesson, and as for Saving Mr. Banks - it was so boring! There was no drama, it was just Emma with a whiny character saying some punchy lines - that's not acting, as much as I love Emma Thompson and her other roles... =) Where as Meryl did a brilliant dramatic performance, as well as Sandra, especially Judi and of course the outstanding Cate Blanchett who could have won the Oscar for Best Actress of the Decade in my opinion. Maybe someone else could have been nominated instead of Amy but still a worthy performance. Anyhow that's my opinion and I hope anyone reading this will give it a thought instead of just arguing against it =)

So many great performances by Meryl. My top three are..Silkwood, Devils Wears Prada and Bridges of Madison County. But she is fantastic in everything she does.

to be honest, i would have loved to see emma thompson nominated, her performance in saving mr banks was amazing. but if meryl wins this year i'll be okay with it. because her performance in august osage county was sooooo incredible. it was soo much better than the iron lady, she managed to make me, love her, hate her, and feel sad for her all at the same time! Meryl streep is one amazing actress.
