For me, it’s Bridges of Madison County. The scene in the pickup truck where she’s grabbing the door handle trying to decide whether or not to go: gut wrenching.
I got so emotional when she won, because i knew, it wasn't just a shot in the dark, this woman earn't it.Worked hard for it. Deserved it. She has ever so carefully thrown away the typical Hollywood facade and faces us with real raw talent film after film. She takes you to the lowest ebbs and then comes alive and drags you around the emotional climbs with her. she is true talent etched with realism and a lot of class all thrown in together. There will be none other like her so all lets treasure while she is here. Thank God for Meryl Streep.
+Diana Victoria Aljadeff Seriously, since a few years Meryl gets nominated only for being Meryl Streep. Another actress in "Music of the heart", "One true thing", "Doubt" or "Into the woods", would NEVER have been nominated, even if this actress gave a performance in exactly that quality. But still, Meryl deserved at least a few of these nominations ..
Just an idea ,but if she gets to 20 nominations , and I think she will one day , they should give her a special Oscar , made of Platinum , way to go Meryl , way to go .
Thanks so much I thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to review the genius of Meryl Streep. I have some movies to catch up on. So 17 nominations. Got that. Also clocked her incredible ability to morph into any character she wishes. She sure is a God gift to human kindness.
exactly. first of all, I really think she should have won for devil wears prada. her " that wasn't a question" while touching her earlobes and so sinisterly low and faint voice.. Wow brilliant'
Well how about Al Pacino? Won just once in 9 nominations. Should've won atleast 3 considering his performances in Dog day afternoon, The Godfather 2, Serpico and obviously Scent of a Woman.
Same. I was 16 also when I first saw a movie of miss meryl. And I was like, "I'm starting to be a fan of her." if they make a biopic of Bette Davis, they would probably focus on her career in her younger years, and thus cast someone around 30. Meryl could play an older version of her, tho, a la Gloria Stuart in Titanic.
Great video!!! Thank you for posting this. She is the most amazing actress and even more amazing person. Her modesty, simpleness, originality and talent are astonishing.
Meryl just understands "acting" she understands human life. She is a true camillian of many generations. A epitome of motion picture. Even though she has those oscars, it dose not prove her "gift" the evidence it's already there, living on screen - forever
Thank you for the great video. I was thrilled to learn Meryl had been nominated for Postcards from the Edge. It was largely considered a flop but is one of my favorite movies. Meryl is phenomenal.

Prepare for # 18 with August-Osage County. I am sure she will hit 20 nominations in her lifetime, and all well deserved. She just simply is the most magnificent actress to work the silver screen. The depth of her talent can not be measured but given how we attempt to do so she has proven that she holds the position of "Best Actress" and this will hold for I am sure more than 100 years from now.

I know she's played in great movies, but one movie I recall her being my favorite character was Aunt Josephine from "Lemony Snicket's: A Series of Unfortunate Events," A minor part yes, but she sold it!
Jason the Movie Guy: you rock! what a clever idea to mix clips of all her performances with her winning. The look on her face when they call her name is priceless!
Honestly, she has started looking like a living oscar herself. So iconic.
She is not a superficial diva. She is a supreme artist, so simple ... like a mother of a family. The humility of the greatest !!!!

Omg yes!!!
Wow Jason! CONGRATULATIONS! Your video is a Masterpiece! And if "...half America says: Oh Nooo" that night, all around the World they say a big: Yeeeeeessss! ;-)) "3-time Academy Award winning goddess continues to be an inspiration to us all". Love you Meryl!
I know she's played in great movies, but one movie I recall her being my favorite character was Aunt Josephine from "Lemony Snicket's: A Series of Unfortunate Events," A minor part yes, but she sold it!
She deserves to get more than 3. Hope she will win more
She is definitely the greatest living actress
Jason the Movie Guy: you rock! what a clever idea to mix clips of all her performances with her winning. The look on her face when they call her name is priceless!
