I agree that luxury should be consumed slowly. I love the few pieces that I own and I think I get more enjoyment out of these pieces because I acquire things slowly, giving me space to appreciate them.
I once heard a saying: “what you can afford today, might not be what you can afford tomorrow.” So important to save your money, no one can predict the future. Don’t get caught up with luxury buying sprees. Bags are not investments. Because with bags, you’re only able to sell what the others are willing to pay. If there’s ever a hard hit recession, your bags may not be able to pay your rent.
I completely agree and have unsubscribed to some UA-camrs who have repeated massive hauls. The only time I watch them is if I am specifically researching a bag. I spend months of research on each purchase: watching videos, looking at the pros and cons, so when I buy a bag or SLG, it is well thought out and part of the fun is the experience of the research 😁
About 7 years ago I finally treated myself to my first LV piece. I then went down the rabbit hole of needing more and more. Then the market became saturated and it seemed like everyone had luxury bags. It felt like fast fashion and owning those pieces didn't feel special anymore. I have since sold all but two of my pieces and now I enjoy them so much more.

Whenever I buy something, I try to translate the price tag into working hours and think if that item is worth my time and effort, and for how long I will enjoy it. But I’m not always that strong, and here’s a confession: I have found myself anxious for the past couple of weeks due to luxury shopping. I’ve always thought that I wanted to offer myself a luxury item for my 40th birthday. Well, the date is in one month, and I’ve not yet found THE item I’d like to buy to represent that moment. Yesterday I found myself going to Cartier after work, not falling in love with anything, and coming back home with a sad feeling. And I now realize how ridiculous that is! I already have the few jewelry pieces I’ve been enjoying everyday (Tank watch, Love alliance and Love bracelet). Why should I add another one? Just for the sake of being 40? It’s exactly what you’re saying: luxury items shouldn’t become something that we buy just for the sake of buying, but items that we’re sure that we will enjoy and feel happy to wear for many years. No matter if I don’t find anything to buy for myself on my 40th birthday… I will just open my closet and feel proud of what I already have and enjoy - and save that money for a nice dinner out with my husband ❤️. I am definitely practicing collecting my luxury items at a slower pace this year!💕💚 It makes me really love, enjoy and appreciate everything that I have even more. I only like to have items that I use. But at the same time, I’m not mad at anybody else for choosing to buy multiples items every month or week. I will still watch the videos and enjoy it🥰

Your chanel changed my life. I said before I was shopping to cover my deppression and anxiety. I am so happy that I discovered what was my underlying problem. I am dealing with my problem. I am feeling much better. 2022 is shopping free. Why not. Eileena thank you for your platform. I spent 1000 of pounds for van cleef. How many of them I need? 100? Absolutely ridiculous. One item I purchased than I started looking for new one. I completely could ruin my life.
I'm am new to this luxury thing but I can 100% agree. It is so easy to get wrapped up in it all. I have no intention of buying and selling but I still find myself finding more items I'd love to have.
Another thing is that luxury fashion houses themselves operate a lot like fast fashion now. For example, when I started studying fashion design, there were no pre-fall, cruise etc collections. There were just two rtw collections and two couture collections at the very top end houses. Now it's a lot like the 24h news cycle. You have to have something new all the time. For me, the fashion industry lost its luster about 10 years ago. Also, the shopping experience itself is so impersonal and fast, both in store and online. I ordered a Givenchy bag online and it came wrapped worse than a pair of leggings from Oysho. It's kind of hard to find balance between liking and appreciating nice things and also not participating in the mindless system of over consumption.

I agree with slow, intentional buying. It's been over 2 years since moving into our new house, and I still haven't finished furnishing everything. We didn't have a dining table, or dining chairs, for the longest time. I liked to buy one item, use it, think about it, and then buy the next. I am this way with my luxury handbags as well. I have only 2, last one purchased 3 years ago. Now I know that I need a black one for my next one, which I hope to get at the end of this year.
I did the exact same thing when I moved into my home! I didn’t want to rush into furniture buying bc I didn’t want to regret any pieces and have to go through the trouble of moving a heavy object and losing a lot of $ in reselling it. 3 years later, I still love all the pieces I carefully and slowly added into my home, even when “friends” made fun of me for taking my sweet time. I’m glad I listened and trusted myself! ☺️
I need this channel. It helps bring me back to reality. Since lockdown I found myself buying luxury out of boredom. I go nowhere, as we are in and out of lockdowns in Ontario Canada, so why am I buying handbags...to make me feel good. To gain a bit of dopamine that I lack from the travelling I once did. I cannot wait for the nice weather. I need a break from everything influencer related. It is eroding my brain.
I am allways shocked when I go shopping and I see ordinary , young people shedding thousands of dollars for a chanel or LV bags and I ask myself: What sacrifices are this people doing to be able to purchase this luxury items ?
I can’t speak for every young person but many like myself live at home. We can’t afford to buy houses easily because of rising markets and a very competitive job market. I own a couple of luxury pieces but also drive a 13 year old car, live at home and balance full-time work with school. So these are little splurges which I’ve only done a few times in the last few years which will stop once I move out! I’m grateful to my mum and try manage my money effectively.
I’m in my late 20s and drive a 10 year old car and I never kept up with the latest phones. I only just bought my iPhone 11 (a little over $600) in cash last year. It’s ok to splurge if you have your other priorities in order. Budgeting isn’t that hard and saving becomes addictive once you hit a certain number. I’ve afforded all of my vacations and luxury items by budgeting.
I live at home because the housing market is brutal in Southern California. Even though I could afford a home, they get snatched up by cash buyers and investors who pay way above the listing.I treat myself to one luxury bag a year and I don’t have the latest car or phone.
To be fair, young people have no dependents to support, and no mortgage, insurance, and other repeated spending to tie them down. Probably a lot easier to save without sacrifice than us older adults. But of course that money would be much better put toward their future, and that's something a lot of people unfortunately don't realize until much later, and that becomes their sacrifice.
This shouldn't your be concern though. People don't have to prove themselves worthy (in our eyes) of owning certain items. Over consumption isn't unique to young "undeserving" people.
Hi Eileen.. I went to Chanel today and the bag i have been hunting for was sitting right there. The beautiful square shaped black n white 22c tweed bag. The prepandemic me would have immediately bought it, but the more mindful me took time to contemplate on it. The bag was a magnet for dirt and wine stains and the SA told me not to wear jeans with it as it could colour transfer. After 20 mins of consideration n remembering one of ur videos about the things that bring joy, and i thot this bag would worry the hell out of me if I carried it around. I would have sleepless night if a speck of dirt got to it. I went on to look for other bags and I thot incase there was something that i might have missed out And for the first time in 15 years, i Left the chanel boutique even when I had full intention of purchasing the bag. Mindful shopping 2022 😊

I totally agree with the SLG comment. I used to think I needed a matching wallet for each bag I bought. Then realized what a headache it was to keep switching out each time. Now I have two only. A small wallet with a zipper compartment and a smaller card holder when using a small pocketbook. The rest have been given away to friends and family. Also we get numb to the excitement and enjoyment of a “special occasion “ purchase if we buy frequently and for no purpose. Very good points in this video.

I'm V E R Y slow with my luxury purchases.... so much so I've been priced out of some of the things I've always wanted. Maybe if I hadn't drooled over so many things at once, I would have remained focused on the things I most desired and I would own them now. This is the channel I need and have been looking for. *I always play and listen to your videos before deciding to purchase a new item!* In my current circle now, I am surrounded by people who live, breathe & "eat" luxury to the point that it's "normal" and ordinary for them to do so. It's a stark contrast to how I grew up. There is constant pressure to fit in and adopt their lifestyle when deep inside I know that many of what they do are not what I want to spend my time on. Also, many of the luxury brands on trend are just not my esthetics & taste. I do enjoy luxury fashion and buy them too, but more on the obscure, relatively unknown and bespoke kinds. I even scour obsessively for the vintage and rare items, which is silly now that I reflect on it. Although I want them just to collect them to admire their beauty, it's just not a wise way to spend money that I can use instead to do more good for myself and others. I can always be tempted and still fall into the trap of consumerism if I'm not careful. A voice of reason like yours is truly needed and much appreciated when reflecting on any new purchase I contemplate on making.

She claims she does not go into debt for these bags and saves up the money she makes from her e-commerce job and from UA-cam. I think she is being dishonest.
I’m young with a pretty decent income and live at home, I find her situation misleading. I would wager she’s missing some critical information, I know a number of people that have a trust fund, inherited money or has been lucky to get a high paid job via a contact / relative aka nepotism. She has noted her father is wealthy and paid for a number of her bags so it’s not unlikely that these could be important considerations. She might also sell the bags she’s been gifted to get new items. I know wealth kids that have been gifted cars worth up to $100k at 18 so you never know. I think for most viewers it should be made clear that many young people like myself (22) even though we could buy all of her collection / travel chose to invest/save our money to secure our future. Which should be the main priority, and reducing debt like student loans etc I guess it’s a trade-off and we’ll never know anyones full story!

She has a regular job but makes more money on YT than at her job. She also got jewelry like a Cartier love Bracelet, a VCA necklace,... I get that she probably makes very good money but her spendings are extremely high and she seems to be able to buy so much more. I guess YT and product endorsement make really good money^^
I have reduced my handbag collection as well. 🥰 I sold 2 handbags I own 5 bags and that is a blessing and I am grateful for them. I am also enjoying them.
When I buy a lot of bags in a year I feel like I barely get a chance to really get to use it or enjoy it. I am definitely only purchasing 2 designer bags this year and one mid price book bag. I'm only purchasing items I plan to keep for at least a few years.
I just got my dream bag, a chanel classic flap. But before that, I did so much research on it on UA-cam and Instagram to the point that the algorithm has recommended me more videos and content about luxury purchases in general. Because of the algorithm, it is so easy to get hooked on things as we are bombarded with content on social media. Now I am starting to look at mini bags, trying to resist the urge!!

Too many luxury hdbags not only wastes alot money it also time consuming cause anxiety to upkeep those bags n cluttered around with dust. Buy what you need and love. 💙 don't need to follow blindly. Sometimes I see people only buy LV, Chanel and Hermes because they are the only brands that retain much of their values so much so that they are missing out on other brands beautiful designs. Eg. People may not buy a certain brand product even though they like the design cos their resell value is low. Dior is one good example

Agree! Excessive shopping is a waste of resource/money and detrimental to our own mindset. The more you buy the more you want, there is a hollow that cannot be fulfilled by the desire for more and we are mentally trapped in never ending consumption. And brands like LV Chanel destroy large quantity of unsold items to maintain their prestige which is very bad for the environment.

My house really hasn’t the right layout for a walk in wardrobe but I almost felt like I needed one. Thank you so much for reeling me back in. Perfect time for this video, I’ve been searching the web and going down a rabbit hole. I wanted a Chanel but can’t justify spending that money on a bag so I started looking at bags that cost less, and my list grew to a handful and suddenly it’s like I’m spending just as much. I hardly go anywhere these days so there’s no point in having all these bags and it doesn’t fit the minimalist lifestyle I’ve been leaning towards the last few years. It’s really easy to get sucked into it.
Bravo for being truly honest of who you are becoming. Of course some people won’t understand or perhaps even think it’s because you probably can’t afford anymore. I view it as courage and authenticity to talk about what important for you today even if that can sound as a big U-turn. In my culture there is a proverb who says “ just idiots people can never change their mind”
I agree with your opinion about trendy fashion. I do have a wishlist for 2022, more jewelry than handbags but I also decided to add more money into my retirement account this new year. I have sold some luxury handbags & try to limit my collect to items I will use. Great video as always.

What also helped me being more minimalistic is knowing my skin undertone. I found out I am a cool undertone girl, so silver or white gold jewelry suits me so much better than gold. Also, I want piesces that last for a long time, so I only invest in fine jewelry. Funny is, u r wearing both gold and silver/white gold jewelry and I think silver colored looks better on you. :D
I like your videos so much and they help taking my rational mind back. There are only 2 bag design I like among all the brands and designs, Lady Dior and the Chanel classic flap/ diana. I recently got the small Lady Dior, after thinking about it for around 2 years. After that I don't have any desires to buy any other luxury bags. For chanel, their price increases in such an insane way so I guess I won't be considering it in the near future (unless one day I get a lot richer :p ).

I appreciate this video so much.. I can totally relate to this realization!!! I found myself being sooooo influenced by youtube or influencers when it came to luxury goods and Ive always been a very practical luxury shopper.
Its easy to fall into the trap of massive consumption. However the more you buy, the more you will see the quality issues and the similarities with high street fast fashion. For example, look how many lv stores there are worldwide and how many products they stock, thats not exclusive, its mass production. Also when you sell your items, you see the true value of the product. Also look how many brands outsource to other manufacturers eg: sunglasses. Slow purchasing is less likely to make you fall for trends and you will become more discerning consumer. You will discover quality over trend and open your mind to more diverse brands and designers that focus on quality
Really great video and I love your channel! If you feel comfortable I’d love to see your wardrobe and how you create multiple outfits with your pieces. I think many people have closets packed to the brim and still nothing to wear. Seems like folks are scared to be seen wearing the same items over and over again and that’s just nuts. I don’t have a big clothing selection and I love it because it makes styling easier (not boring!) and I think folks need to see more of that on big platforms like this one. Love your content!

I’m sorry that my comment isn’t about bags as I don’t have any from luxury brands. I’d like to point out that luxury beauty products look like they are competing with the fast beauty. After buying some from Chanel & Dior, I notice seeing their ads on Instagram a lot. It’s like every week or so I see a new Dior eyeshadow palette. Seriously. I wasn’t expecting it from an expensive brand but it’s happening.

It is so easy to fall into the trap of buying and selling, even with a one in and one out policy. With watching UA-cam hauls and unboxings, I have learned to keep in mind that the influencers have the disposable income to buy these luxury goods and I do not. I can save up for an item over time but I do not have their spending power.

I feel that luxury almost became fast fashion, consumerism got out of control recently. To me, the LVMH strategy is a mess and tends to cheapen it's own brands by over spoiling influencers. Everybody looks the same, everything has the same ! Luxury goes with rarety, not with over dosing. I am personnally tired of the just un clou bracelet that I've seen way too much, or the mini kelly bag that "only costs" 10000usd for fiting half of a tissue... 🤭Hauls always appear to be the most rated videos on luxury channels, which means that too many of us are still impressed by this kind of content, despite the void of it. The younger these influencers are, the more uncomfortable I get for them, because they're creating their own reality, that their audience take for granted. Love you girl 💋💋💋
I don't buy luxury and I don't call myself a minimalist either. What I love is having items that last and can be used for years, regardless of their price point. It not only gives meaning and purpose to the money you earn and spend, but it's also an appreciation of the resources and work that go into making the item you bought. This is what I believe those of us in affluent societies have lost touch with, because we now earn our living from computer work instead of manual labour, and indirectly allows corporations and brands to create a buy and throwaway culture in our present society.

Whenever I buy something, I try to translate the price tag into working hours and think if that item is worth my time and effort, and for how long I will enjoy it. But I’m not always that strong, and here’s a confession: I have found myself anxious for the past couple of weeks due to luxury shopping. I’ve always thought that I wanted to offer myself a luxury item for my 40th birthday. Well, the date is in one month, and I’ve not yet found THE item I’d like to buy to represent that moment. Yesterday I found myself going to Cartier after work, not falling in love with anything, and coming back home with a sad feeling. And I now realize how ridiculous that is! I already have the few jewelry pieces I’ve been enjoying everyday (Tank watch, Love alliance and Love bracelet). Why should I add another one? Just for the sake of being 40? It’s exactly what you’re saying: luxury items shouldn’t become something that we buy just for the sake of buying, but items that we’re sure that we will enjoy and feel happy to wear for many years. No matter if I don’t find anything to buy for myself on my 40th birthday… I will just open my closet and feel proud of what I already have and enjoy - and save that money for a nice dinner out with my husband ❤️. I am definitely practicing collecting my luxury items at a slower pace this year!💕💚 It makes me really love, enjoy and appreciate everything that I have even more. I only like to have items that I use. But at the same time, I’m not mad at anybody else for choosing to buy multiples items every month or week. I will still watch the videos and enjoy it🥰

Another thing is that luxury fashion houses themselves operate a lot like fast fashion now. For example, when I started studying fashion design, there were no pre-fall, cruise etc collections. There were just two rtw collections and two couture collections at the very top end houses. Now it's a lot like the 24h news cycle. You have to have something new all the time. For me, the fashion industry lost its luster about 10 years ago. Also, the shopping experience itself is so impersonal and fast, both in store and online. I ordered a Givenchy bag online and it came wrapped worse than a pair of leggings from Oysho. It's kind of hard to find balance between liking and appreciating nice things and also not participating in the mindless system of over consumption.
I agree! Every luxury brand is churning out new designs on a regular basis. Truthfully, I think luxury shopping won't feel as special anymore if we make it a routine xx
I'm just glad I'm not the only one that sees luxury as fast fashion, anything can become fast fashion because of over consumerism its unfortunate, I even see the eco friendly fashion stores are becoming more fast fashion as there is too many content creators making it that way with calling everything a "trend"
I agree with slow, intentional buying. It's been over 2 years since moving into our new house, and I still haven't finished furnishing everything. We didn't have a dining table, or dining chairs, for the longest time. I liked to buy one item, use it, think about it, and then buy the next. I am this way with my luxury handbags as well. I have only 2, last one purchased 3 years ago. Now I know that I need a black one for my next one, which I hope to get at the end of this year.

I did the exact same thing when I moved into my home! I didn’t want to rush into furniture buying bc I didn’t want to regret any pieces and have to go through the trouble of moving a heavy object and losing a lot of $ in reselling it. 3 years later, I still love all the pieces I carefully and slowly added into my home, even when “friends” made fun of me for taking my sweet time. I’m glad I listened and trusted myself! ☺️
I need this channel. It helps bring me back to reality. Since lockdown I found myself buying luxury out of boredom. I go nowhere, as we are in and out of lockdowns in Ontario Canada, so why am I buying handbags...to make me feel good. To gain a bit of dopamine that I lack from the travelling I once did. I cannot wait for the nice weather. I need a break from everything influencer related. It is eroding my brain.

I am allways shocked when I go shopping and I see ordinary , young people shedding thousands of dollars for a chanel or LV bags and I ask myself: What sacrifices are this people doing to be able to purchase this luxury items ?
I can’t speak for every young person but many like myself live at home. We can’t afford to buy houses easily because of rising markets and a very competitive job market.
I own a couple of luxury pieces but also drive a 13 year old car, live at home and balance full-time work with school. So these are little splurges which I’ve only done a few times in the last few years which will stop once I move out! I’m grateful to my mum and try manage my money effectively.
I’m in my late 20s and drive a 10 year old car and I never kept up with the latest phones. I only just bought my iPhone 11 (a little over $600) in cash last year. It’s ok to splurge if you have your other priorities in order. Budgeting isn’t that hard and saving becomes addictive once you hit a certain number. I’ve afforded all of my vacations and luxury items by budgeting.
I live at home because the housing market is brutal in Southern California. Even though I could afford a home, they get snatched up by cash buyers and investors who pay way above the listing.I treat myself to one luxury bag a year and I don’t have the latest car or phone.
To be fair, young people have no dependents to support, and no mortgage, insurance, and other repeated spending to tie them down. Probably a lot easier to save without sacrifice than us older adults. But of course that money would be much better put toward their future, and that's something a lot of people unfortunately don't realize until much later, and that becomes their sacrifice.
This shouldn't your be concern though. People don't have to prove themselves worthy (in our eyes) of owning certain items. Over consumption isn't unique to young "undeserving" people.
Hi Eileen.. I went to Chanel today and the bag i have been hunting for was sitting right there. The beautiful square shaped black n white 22c tweed bag. The prepandemic me would have immediately bought it, but the more mindful me took time to contemplate on it. The bag was a magnet for dirt and wine stains and the SA told me not to wear jeans with it as it could colour transfer. After 20 mins of consideration n remembering one of ur videos about the things that bring joy, and i thot this bag would worry the hell out of me if I carried it around. I would have sleepless night if a speck of dirt got to it. I went on to look for other bags and I thot incase there was something that i might have missed out And for the first time in 15 years, i Left the chanel boutique even when I had full intention of purchasing the bag. Mindful shopping 2022 😊

I totally agree with the SLG comment. I used to think I needed a matching wallet for each bag I bought. Then realized what a headache it was to keep switching out each time. Now I have two only. A small wallet with a zipper compartment and a smaller card holder when using a small pocketbook. The rest have been given away to friends and family. Also we get numb to the excitement and enjoyment of a “special occasion “ purchase if we buy frequently and for no purpose. Very good points in this video.

This is the channel I need and have been looking for. *I always play and listen to your videos before deciding to purchase a new item!* In my current circle now, I am surrounded by people who live, breathe & "eat" luxury to the point that it's "normal" and ordinary for them to do so. It's a stark contrast to how I grew up. There is constant pressure to fit in and adopt their lifestyle when deep inside I know that many of what they do are not what I want to spend my time on. Also, many of the luxury brands on trend are just not my esthetics & taste. I do enjoy luxury fashion and buy them too, but more on the obscure, relatively unknown and bespoke kinds. I even scour obsessively for the vintage and rare items, which is silly now that I reflect on it. Although I want them just to collect them to admire their beauty, it's just not a wise way to spend money that I can use instead to do more good for myself and others. I can always be tempted and still fall into the trap of consumerism if I'm not careful. A voice of reason like yours is truly needed and much appreciated when reflecting on any new purchase I contemplate on making.

Idr all the exact details but she is 24 and in the last 2 years she bought 2 birkins, 1 kelly, a picotin, and I think some other bags from Chanel, Dior… I can’t keep up. She claims she does not go into debt for these bags and saves up the money she makes from her e-commerce job and from UA-cam. I think she is being dishonest.
I’m young with a pretty decent income and live at home, I find her situation misleading.
I would wager she’s missing some critical information, I know a number of people that have a trust fund, inherited money or has been lucky to get a high paid job via a contact / relative aka nepotism.

She has a regular job but makes more money on YT than at her job. She also got jewelry like a Cartier love Bracelet, a VCA necklace,... I get that she probably makes very good money but her spendings are extremely high and she seems to be able to buy so much more. I guess YT and product endorsement make really good money^^

When I buy a lot of bags in a year I feel like I barely get a chance to really get to use it or enjoy it. I am definitely only purchasing 2 designer bags this year and one mid price book bag. I'm only purchasing items I plan to keep for at least a few years.
I just got my dream bag, a chanel classic flap. But before that, I did so much research on it on UA-cam and Instagram to the point that the algorithm has recommended me more videos and content about luxury purchases in general. Because of the algorithm, it is so easy to get hooked on things as we are bombarded with content on social media. Now I am starting to look at mini bags, trying to resist the urge!!

Too many luxury hdbags not only wastes alot money it also time consuming cause anxiety to upkeep those bags n cluttered around with dust. Either those full time luxury blogger keep showing n unboxing their hdbags on social media I am sure either they earn commission or hv some gains frm the luxury brands they showcase.......less is more.......hving too many bags we can't even carry all cos we hv only 2 hands....even everytime or once awhile interchange bag can be quite hectic pack n unpack items......buy when needed n not want. Buy what you need and love. 💙 don't need to follow blindly. Sometimes I see people only buy LV, Chanel and Hermes because they are the only brands that retain much of their values so much so that they are missing out on other brands beautiful designs. Eg. People may not buy a certain brand product even though they like the design cos their resell value is low. Dior is one good example

Agree! Excessive shopping is a waste of resource/money and detrimental to our own mindset. The more you buy the more you want, there is a hollow that cannot be fulfilled by the desire for more and we are mentally trapped in never ending consumption. And brands like LV Chanel destroy large quantity of unsold items to maintain their prestige which is very bad for the environment.
Great video, so put together without being patronising or higher than thou. The walk in closet part is so true. My house really hasn’t the right layout for a walk in wardrobe but I almost felt like I needed one. Then I realised that a fitted Wardrobe fits my lifestyle much better especially as I tend to slow buy

I wanted a Chanel but can’t justify spending that money on a bag so I started looking at bags that cost less, and my list grew to a handful and suddenly it’s like I’m spending just as much. I hardly go anywhere these days so there’s no point in having all these bags and it doesn’t fit the minimalist lifestyle I’ve been leaning towards the last few years. It’s really easy to get sucked into it.

What also helped me being more minimalistic is knowing my skin undertone. I found out I am a cool undertone girl, so silver or white gold jewelry suits me so much better than gold. Also, I want piesces that last for a long time, so I only invest in fine jewelry.

I like your videos so much and they help taking my rational mind back. There are only 2 bag design I like among all the brands and designs, Lady Dior and the Chanel classic flap/ diana. I recently got the small Lady Dior, after thinking about it for around 2 years. After that I don't have any desires to buy any other luxury bags. For chanel, their price increases in such an insane way so I guess I won't be considering it in the near future (unless one day I get a lot richer :p ).

Its easy to fall into the trap of massive consumption. However the more you buy, the more you will see the quality issues and the similarities with high street fast fashion. For example, look how many lv stores there are worldwide and how many products they stock, thats not exclusive, its mass production. Also when you sell your items, you see the true value of the product. Also look how many brands outsource to other manufacturers eg: sunglasses. Slow purchasing is less likely to make you fall for trends and you will become more discerning consumer. You will discover quality over trend and open your mind to more diverse brands and designers that focus on quality

Really great video and I love your channel! If you feel comfortable I’d love to see your wardrobe and how you create multiple outfits with your pieces. I think many people have closets packed to the brim and still nothing to wear. Seems like folks are scared to be seen wearing the same items over and over again and that’s just nuts. I don’t have a big clothing selection and I love it because it makes styling easier (not boring!) and I think folks need to see more of that on big platforms like this one. Love your content!

LV is a fast fashion industry, they seem to launch new bags every other day :)
Not just lv, Chanel and Gucci and all the luxury brands as well. Nothing seems special any more. They churn out bags etc every 3 months.
@@zylbygdfn6542 I feel like LV has a mass productions. Gucci in general is tacky anyway so I don’t mention it. Although Chanel is mass, but their bags retain more value than any other brands except some of Hermès bags.

I’m sorry that my comment isn’t about bags as I don’t have any from luxury brands. I’d like to point out that luxury beauty products look like they are competing with the fast beauty. After buying some from Chanel & Dior, I notice seeing their ads on Instagram a lot. It’s like every week or so I see a new Dior eyeshadow palette. Seriously. I wasn’t expecting it from an expensive brand but it’s happening.

It is so easy to fall into the trap of buying and selling, even with a one in and one out policy. With watching UA-cam hauls and unboxings, I have learned to keep in mind that the influencers have the disposable income to buy these luxury goods and I do not. I can save up for an item over time but I do not have their spending power.

Wow! Well said, Eileen. Hi Eileen, what are your thoughts of those luxury UA-camrs that do unboxing videos almost weekly? Are they really buying to consume themselves or just for show? The point is some do not have content in it, i.e what the measurement or how big it is.. it is just purely un-boxing. Not much information on the bags info... Also, they do Massive Luxury giveaways too...
I feel that luxury almost became fast fashion, consumerism got out of control recently. To me, the LVMH strategy is a mess and tends to cheapen it's own brands by over spoiling influencers. Everybody looks the same, everything has the same ! Luxury goes with rarety, not with over dosing. I am personnally tired of the just un clou bracelet that I've seen way too much, or the mini kelly bag that "only costs" 10000usd for fiting half of a tissue... 🤭Hauls always appear to be the most rated videos on luxury channels, which means that too many of us are still impressed by this kind of content, despite the void of it. The younger these influencers are, the more uncomfortable I get for them, because they're creating their own reality, that their audience take for granted. Love you girl 💋💋💋

I don't buy luxury and I don't call myself a minimalist either. What I love is having items that last and can be used for years, regardless of their price point. It not only gives meaning and purpose to the money you earn and spend, but it's also an appreciation of the resources and work that go into making the item you bought.
This is what I believe those of us in affluent societies have lost touch with, because we now earn our living from computer work instead of manual labour, and indirectly allows corporations and brands to create a buy and throwaway culture in our present society.
