This series encompasses everything art is. I love the story, it’s unlike anything I’ve seen. The music, the characters, I love how they make you feel like you are tripping with the character. The whole series feels like a trip. The creators are genius. This series is so underrated, I hope they have a season 3
A hidden gem in the modern era of streaming entertainment, Undone is a masterful work of art and an emotional journey like nothing else.

I remember, as a kid, going to the studio of the only lady in Canada doing this style of oil painting animation. She was animating a bir and painted with her fingers. Every single mistake she made, she had to redo the entire section. She was never angry or sad, always concentrated. I had bring her my own 2 seconds or so of animation at the time, and she input my animation in the archives of the National Office of Film in Canada. What a great moment :)

I am excited for this new series too. But if you want to see a movie which did this in 2001, with the same dream/surreal themes about life and consciousness, watch Waking Life (2001). Another great rotoscoped movie is A Scanner Darkly. Both are great. Enjoy!
A master of his craft. The show bears out the level of effort that went into writing, producing, and bringing the story to life with artistry.

The oil paint realism with rotoscope hits the uncanny valley for me, that being said, I appreciate the attempt and risk taking.

I initially didn't care for the art style, but the seamless transitions really sold it as the show progressed. So disappointed when I realized there were only 8 episodes.

Undone is an amazing series! I’m so happy they went with the unique rotoscoping technique for the visual design. I think it really fit the story. I hope more series use rotoscoping in the future.

I know you guys are trying to broaden your appeal in War Stories, but I think the series is so successful because of a few core reasons. Specifically, it's focusing on video games that were great 10-30 years ago that had a lot of technical challenges. Why this makes the series great is because we (the audience) get to see the enormous problems that developers faced when they were creating some iconic, sometimes genre-defining games. Their struggle makes the series enjoyable, because even if we didn't play that particular game we go 'oh damn, they really built a whole engine for the world?' or something similar. The scale of the achievement is meaningful to us, and we can appreciate it, mostly because they involve technical challenges and are resolved by ingenuity and cleverness.
But this isn't a game, and it's not something we all remember like that. It's not iconic. It's a TV series by Amazon. It's current. The technical limitations don't seem as relevant. To be clear, I wouldn't mind if a War Stories episode was about an iconic animation from the past, or challenges in a very modern video game, even though those aren't the same as what we've been getting. But I struggle to see how the 'problem' of this episode is going to be one that we're invested in, even if the solution is clever. At its core, this episode offers to be an in-depth 'making of' for a brand new TV series by a financially sound company. And that's the opposite of 'War Stories' - design-related difficulty in iconic video games, as told by a company with (then) no money, five employees and a bag of wishes. We want the technical hardballs that nearly sunk our childhood heroes like Crash Bandicoot. Not the next series from Amazon, and how it was made. If I really wanted to watch that, I'd just UA-cam it. It's not the sort of content that makes War Stories great.
Agreed 100%, and there was no heart behind this, no backstory, no personal connection, and mainly: NO WAR STORY! Lol a "war story" implies something went wrong, seems like everything went the way that guy planned. This was just a behind-the-scenes featurette that felt like they asked the same questions as the other interviews already out there

Totally seems like this had many of those qualities. Pretty foolish to ask Ars to limit the scope of their own program to your narrow definition of something they've created.

This was a technical process. Just because it doesn't directly overlap with your narrow interests doesn't mean it doesn't fit.
On top of that, games and animated films evolved together. Both sides have benefited from continuously pushing the envelope
Undone is awesome
This isn't a "War Story", it's more like the "PROBLEM" was they needed to make an animated show, and the "FIX" was they made the show with the usual film making process lol. There was no conflict, no personal connection/heart like with the Deadspace or Oddworld episodes. Beautifully put together, but I feel like this was some new producer or director running things... hope this isn't the new direction for the series.

I don't understand. Do people dream in animations like this? I don't think i've ever had a dream that was a cartoon, but movies about dreams always seem to represent them this way.
Probably easier to blur the lines of reality when both "reality" and the "dreams" are represented with the same style of artwork, otherwise it's too obvious when dreamlike stuff happens if it goes from live action to something obviously computer generated. The most seamless transitions happen when you don't change the medium (live action to live action, animated to animated)
