I was sooooo close to clicking off the video when the crew decided to entrust the knowlede of Freitagnacht to outsiders but then they took off their ridiculous American disguises and revealed they're actually Bavarian and everything was fine. And Graham throwing The Lamb with his RIGHT hand?? Absolutely genius move, I've never seen a play like that before!
Actually Graham, according to the rules, it's only a crime if you 'target' their fridge, if you can just 'choose' a fridge to steal food from it's fine.
@@ManuelRiccobono I see you've never visited Thunder Junction. Everyone knows things are only crimes if they target an opponent or something controlled by them, or something in their trash (sometimes creatively called "their graveyard.")
No, see, they're playing freitagnachts, which means Tuesday was tomorrow *four days ago*; this is called Viertagesimplizitpräteritum, a standard construct in most Low German dialects that has made its way into the Berlin dialect.
Pausing to read the cast’s cards is a pleasure I have missed for years and years. So amped that Friday Nights is coming back and I hope it’s a success enough to make even more seasons 💜
I didn't know what I should expect from this video. However an entire 10 minute skit wasn't it. The production was over the roof! I hope Kathleen and Graham actually got around to play some non-german Magic aswell in another video ;-D
Well bear in mind that there are many sniffless birthdays, many of which fall within a reasonable production schedule. Given the disqualifications we can narrow the games down to an odd day of the week (excepting Fridays) but this would still leave mixed company amongst the remaining days, so we cannot know for sure without further information about the games. But you are correct that Calendar 208.3 should have been referenced, to ensure a legal gamestate
Actually, Freitagnacht is at its best when it is played on Walpurgisnacht on top of the Blocksberg, where Richard Garfield was taught this Format. The Banana then is changed to a Blutwurst and instead of Buzzers you have to catch a Wildschwein.
This format is a real unding... (English speakers, magic newcommers, and others who missed the joke: unding is german, meaning kinda like un-thing, or non-thing, which refers to somethig bizzarre or unnatural, typically either unacceptable or funny. It also starts with un- which is funny because silver border cards are typically in the sets with un, such as unglued, unstable, etc. And silver border cards are funny goof cards that make jokes or meta-refrenes, or make you do weird things like keeping your finger on a card to keep it alive, or or other humorous jokes that get old fast. Anyways, it fit the history of magic and german language, while also being apt for the video, I just explained it for accessability)
I dont wanna be a pedant, but the pointing banana is not ONLY for the River, if your name starts with a vowel you also need it for the hat stacking phase.
You guys sound like you would enjoy playing Mao... it's a card game (played with regular, 52-card poker decks) but to explain it, you will have to find someone around you who has already played. I don't think I can explain more... *someone* might make me draw 1 on the next game. I can tell you though, the first games you play feel a lot like what LRR were feeling in this video. Let's goooooo Friday Nights is back!!!! Can't wait!!
I had no idea this was a secret episode and missed it, I'm so happy i went back! The card market guys getting their own cards at the end was a wonderful touch too!
As someone who is currently learning german and also a massive magic player, this is a weirdly tailored video LOL. i feel like kathleen and graham every once in awhile xd
This is a weird thing to focus on but Carl's card in the credit seems super busted in storm decks given super haste, exiling itself and casting itself from exile (only needing to pay the mana cost by the beginning of your next turns end step like Rocket-Powered Turbo Slug) lets you build infinite storm count for free.
the jig is up, this whole channel was a guerilla marketing campaign for piri piri sauce & maplesyrup that whole time! Im gonna have to see more of that though, please, that was awesome. Remínded me of CharDeeMacDennis from Philly

German Magic players have often done things a little differently: bit.ly/3VEFoiG
no estoy seguro que acabo de ver... pero esta bien supongo que es humor aleman
Raiding the fridge doesn't target, so it's not a crime.
Against the advice of my lawyer, I tried this line in court the other day.
The judge seemed okay with it.
"Raiding the fridge explains the fridge."
Depends on the wording though. If they raided target fridge or even fridge of target opponent, then it is
“Raid TARGET fridge.”
Actually it is a crime, as "fridge" is an artifact, and it was targeted by Kat
“To attack you have to fill in the form first” is the most stereotypically German thing I’ve heard
Fill out Passierschein A38 to tap.
German bureaucracy at its worst
When Kathleen Tweeted out that she had been part of the most insane video of her life while filming with Cardmarket...she wasn't lying.
I was sooooo close to clicking off the video when the crew decided to entrust the knowlede of Freitagnacht to outsiders but then they took off their ridiculous American disguises and revealed they're actually Bavarian and everything was fine. Not only Germans should be allowed the pleasure of freitagnacht but also bavarians
You fool! That was to throw you off even more that they are in fact Canadian!
Wait, hold on, this is gimmick infringement!
😄
It's a good gimmick :D thank you for teaching it to us! 🙏
It's even better on repeat watches! Good stuff. Can't wait for Friday Nights return! Let's goooo!
Welcome to Germany, LRR
They filled out the forms used the pointing bannanna turned backwards and raided target fridge it’s fully legal and competent.
"The _second and fourth_ columns are the shop, the _first and third_ are the river" has an immaculate eurogamer energy, I approve
Actually Graham, according to the rules, it's only a crime if you 'target' their fridge, if you can just 'choose' a fridge to steal food from it's fine.
This is the most yugioh thing i heard
@@ManuelRiccobono I see you've never visited Thunder Junction. Everyone knows things are only crimes if they target an opponent or something controlled by them, or something in their trash (sometimes creatively called "their graveyard.")
I will give this a high compliment: I felt like I was watching one of those Monty Python episodes they did in German. Well done.
High praise indeed!
"it's called freitagnacht" was a rly good joke
For the German challenged amongst us, that's just Friday Night, right?
@@miracletortoise6224 si
@@ForeverDayGreen Genau richtig.
Making Jace and Vraska kiss is actually one of the most powerful moves in the format.
If you do it too often you get to summon loot
"Tuesday was tomorrow" might be the most confusing sentence I've heard.
That is a sentence that many people in Germany would say in all seriousness
No, see, they're playing freitagnachts, which means Tuesday was tomorrow *four days ago*; this is called Viertagesimplizitpräteritum, a standard construct in most Low German dialects that has made its way into the Berlin dialect.
@@AlienValkyriewhy do i almost believe this 😂
I've had fever dreams which were less weird than this video. I'm not sure who I am anymore. Move to combat?
DISQUALIFIED. You can only move to combat after the shop phase is skipped.
Did you fill out the form?
Also, you didn't choose your target with the pointing banana.
In response: Applaus
This is secretly the next episode of Friday Nights
We’ve been waiting so long
now that the cat is out of the bag, I am sure Freitagnacht will push commander from it's throne and become the premier format to play!
"the banana is for the river?"
"ugh it explains itself"
I AM CRYING

@@CardmarketMagic ...should I ask what format, after seeing this? :)
@therealax6 unfortunately not Freitag Nachts :P we cannot let the rest of the world learn how to play it or it would be too popular
@@CardmarketMagicYESYESYES! I hoped you'd say that.
7:25 he didn't sniff the extra card before putting it into his hand, she should've gotten to draw a card after that

Me, having not studied German in years, looking suspiciously when Karl says Freitagnacht
Since he is a non native, he is forgiven. ^^
"I'm extremly fun!" ... *sign* ... "I'm quite extrem."
"I'm not cool enough to get in" "I am!"
Actually, Freitagnacht is at its best when it is played on Walpurgisnacht on top of the Blocksberg, where Richard Garfield was taught this Format. The Banana then is changed to a Blutwurst and instead of Buzzers you have to catch a Wildschwein.
ACADEMY AWARD WINNING FILM WAS ON THE EDGE OF MY SEAT
Happy you enjoyed it :)
I never knew I needed a Calvinball/Magic crossover
They seem to be losing since no one has the flag.
Calvinball!
How nice!
I just watched a 10-minute ad for Friday Nights. Lmao.
When you are proud of the work your friends do, you promote it :)
So this is how magic looks to people that don't play magic
This is also how Magic looks to people who do play Magic.
Reading the banana explains the banana
The production values on these videos are wild
This is my Olympics, I am living for these multinational crossovers
Graham never forgot his roots, drinking maple syrup from the bottle.
Oh sweet! A bonus episode of Friday Nights.
This just feels like someone recording the crews normal days
In a way, you're not wrong...
"When Graham Stark enters, ..." I see someone is careful about the new templating! Nice!
Cardmarket publishing what is basically a trailer/ad for a show as beloved as Friday Nights is very classy.
"I just wanted to open booster packs!"
The Friday Nights fix while we wait for more episodes
6:15 Graham actually looked sad he couldn’t eat the banana 🤣
The crossover we need and deserve! 😂

NEIN! How can du reveal unser secret game of Freitag Nacht Magic. You can only do this when you are born on the 30th of February!!!!!
Good thing I checked for new Cardmarket videos hourly today and now 10 minutes after upload I am rewarded!
If it helps, we always post on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 18:00 CET :)
"GUTEN TAYG" had me rolling.
My favorite moment is thoralf and jamin looking at each other at 5:00 😂
I was not even remotely prepared for this crossover. Well done!
Friday Nights German Edition? YES.
I just love that Katha has all these short popups any now and then in the videos since she presented her shamans deck 😁
I dont wanna be a pedant, but the pointing banana is not ONLY for the River, if your name starts with a vowel you also need it for the hat stacking phase.
You did the altered Intro Cards as an Outro. Liebe es.
Something tells me they play a very similar format in australia, but it involves drop bears.
"W-with the banana?""no"
Okay, now teach _us!_
The banana is for the River, reading the banana explains it.
CARL HAS THE HAT!
Can't believe card market made the jump to surreal horror.
I felt disturbed and fascinated all at the same time!

The crossover we all needed
Stinger: Felizian having the most actual Magic card is really cute.
Great, another format!? Now I have to learn the meta of freitagnacht also...
I had no idea this was a secret episode and missed it, I'm so happy i went back! The card market guys getting their own cards at the end was a wonderful touch too!
Seeing those rookie mistakes made me remember my first Freitagnacht. Good old times
I gotta play Freitag Nacht again, been a bit!
"First ypu habe to fill out a form" is the most german thing ever.
It's like Calvinball became a magic format
2:18 Gog dammit Caitlin you killed me XD
2:52 So commodoreHustle IS canon to Friday Nights!
Very good catch!
This was not what I expected.
I am pleased to say it was so much better.
If all advertisements were this good, I would literally watch TV for the ads.
Not sure where is this going but this feels like a secret Friday Nights Episode called Freitag Nacht
you're definitely not far off...
LETS GOOOO BRAND NEW SKIT BY LRR
The silliness of your two channels compliment each other wonderfully. Looking forward to seeing more!
omg, the people custom cards at the end. The OG LRR Friday Night nostalgia hit me so hard.
Wait is this basically just a mini episode of Friday nights featuring cardmarket?
Yes 🙃 we tried our own spin on the classic we love
"It explains itself!" 😂
Reminds me of the time you guys were on a Magic the Noah video with an absurd boardgame he made. Seems like there was some mild inspiration
Wow just wow :)
Loving it :)
Just loving the "Berlin ist in Deutschland aber man merkt es nicht... Warte doch man merkt es"
Just amazing :)

LRR and Cardmarket? I didn't know I wanted this collaboration, but now I need so much more of this!
There is much more to come! :)
I have no idea what's happening but I love it none the less.
This show was just toooo silly for me! I loved most of your other stuff :)
Toralf's "it explains itself" was the best quote of the video. 😂
Karl's pronunciation of "Freitag Nacht" somehow sounded like he had an accent himself lol
it is amazing that these guys make a living as comedians.
1:35 made me laugh out loud just because of how tall Jamin is and how short Thoralf is hahahahah. when they're sitting down it's not quite as stark

Friday nights is back! I have been waiting for this for 30 years
yey , great collaboration, love me some Graham and Cathleen (gram some more LRR while you are at it) Awesome magic sketches
I am tapped out and received many stun counters!

LRR and Cardmarket 100% shenanigans. 10/10
The two best magic channels in one video, y’all are too OP!! You’re lucky the BnR isn’t till August 26th haha

I didn't know that i neesed this collab and also the outro with the cards LRR style was very good
Very entertaining! But I am as confused as Graham eating the unpeeled Banana 🤣
So was he :P
Of course they IMMEDIATELY reveal the closely guarded secret of "Freitagnachts" to their friends and therefore the international community.
"Your doing it Graham and Kathleen!" (Obligitory Hook reference XD )
Are they drinking Wostok lemonade? That's one of the best and tastiest things coming from Berlin!
OMG this is what I was waiting for!!! SO GOOOOOODDD!!!
Ich bin so stolz auf die beiden! Die haben die Regeln von Freitag Nacht so schnell gelernt! Absoluter Wahnsinn! ♥
The ending cards are so beautiful! I love them!
