- Kicking off Year 8 for Game Show Garbage is the oft-requested Ameri-Canadian big-money show titled Million Dollar Word Game. How bad is it, and can I stay awake throughout the entire show?

GOOD LORD. THIS SHOW DOESN'T NEED TO EXIST.
I actually remember this show, very vaguely. It aired in Dallas on an obscure UHF station and started around the same time as Who Wants To Be A Millionaire. Even back then I thought the premise of the game was odd and the production values were atrocious.
I recently encountered this game show. Two words...coma inducing. Good golly, watching paint dry is more exciting I swear. Thank you for suffering through this and doing this video Game Show Garbage!
If Shopper's Casino was shot in a basement, then this was shot on a slightly nicer floor above it.
Heck, these shows together could be the 6th and 7th levels of game show hell!
Ian Jamieson (sp?) should've gotten the Gordon Ramsay "Piss/fuck off outta here! GET OUT!" treatment lol.

Yeah...I tried to see this on a youtube video. I couldn't even get past the first part. It was like...how can I put this...I'd rather see grass grow and paint dry at the same time.
I almost remember this show but I don't think I stayed awake. Likely almost nobody could. Made in Edmonton.
The ultimate insomnia cure...Wow! I thought that Pat Bullard was bad, but Ian Jameson is the worst host of all time!
At least Pat Bullard didn't try to scam people like Ian Jameison did...
Regarding Rick Schwartz, I think he also falls under the Following orders category. He could really care about the contestants at times when they got a question right under extreme circumstances, and when they were in potential danger but I'm willing to bet that some of the more condescending things he'd say like, "This could be your last smile or "Those muscle contractors will hurt you" were likely ordered by his bosses at Dick Clark Productions/ Fox. When he was not dramatic and condescending at times, I think he was actually a decent host, based on the episodes I've seen. It seems that Rick disappeared from TV after the Chamber. He now works for a digital sports marketing and content agency. I hope the Chamber never comes back.
Hey, if you're looking for another scam of a Game show, then look no further than Telequest from 1988. Only parts of a single episode are viewable on UA-cam, but based on comments I've read, It Screams Induction.
Based on his little lottery scam, I am surprised that Ian Jeminson is not sitting in prison.
Why is Cyndi butchering "Bohemian Rhapsody"?
Have an episode where the contestant blows it on level 10...in one instance where it was reached, the prize was a trip to London, but it had no accompanying video clip or even a still, just Ian holding up a card that said "London"!
talk about cheap and borderine ripping a contestant off right there, im wondering why this show even aired in the first place.
Except they actually meant London, _Ontario!_ (and there is actually a small town called Toronto, Ohio).

One thing that you didn't mention that I found out years before the induction-- that other set of light fixtures behind the contestant? Supposedly, if a contestant could come up with a legal dictionary-certified word that the computer couldn't find (which I heard happened quite frequently), that player would get to choose from those set of lights to see their bonus prize.
You are correct...have an episode where that actually happened, in fact!

Well, what can I say? Looking at the footage of the game show in the beginning, I can say that the contestant and the host dont seem to have a lot of blatant emotions. And the music for completing a level is REALLY generic and was not loud enough.

Maybe use some of its foreign counterparts? (i.e. 100 Mexicanos Dijeron, Family Fortunes, Aussie FF)
Andrew Schroy And speaking of 100 Mexicanos Dijieron, their newer season hosted by Adrian Uribe as his more better-known character El Vitor, a Mexican hick with a mullet who drives Mexico City's microbuses for a living, at least in my opinion was in a way better in terms of hosting since I think Adrian brought in more heart than Marco Antonio Regil, who was pretty robotic in my opinion, but it's always celebrities playing and actuall families sat around doing nothing, basically being played for by their corresponding celebrity teams and the only time they can acutally play is during fast money which made kind of stupid since it basically strips away the basis of the original game in order to make room for Mexican celebrities who mostly plug in their shows and projects.
Eh, I prefer Marco over El Vitor. To me, Marco actually shows a lot of enthusiasm when he does shows like TPIR, FF, and Dancing with the Stars. I've seen clips of El Vitor, and he is quite annoying to me.

GameShowGarbage Well, that was a fitting part of said review. But reviewing this show needs more of a punch, possibly literally. Have you ever been beamed by a Neo Geo cartridge? It's not the most fun way to use one, I'll tell you that much. :P

The Million Dollar Word Game stunk big time! I never watched it, thank God. I never heard about it until now. It was pathetic! My hope is that the tapes of the show are destroyed.
That one flood several years ago should’ve destroyed Million Dollar Word Game _instead of_ Dream House (meaning the latter would’ve been digitized).

It would’ve been digitized at a snail’s pace (and removed all the politically incorrect phrases) if it was digitized by Buzzr. The results would be worse if Legacybox digitized it
From what I heard, it was boring. If you see episodes of Scrambled Scuares on UA-cam, they're not boring at all, and you could imagine it would go national one day thanks to it's simple gameplay and energetic host and audience. But I just know it's only a southeast local show for years. Million dollar word game lacked what Scuares used and Millionaire was hot at the time. So why did this show wanted to capitalize on the phenomenon?

A Reddit poster who appeared as a contestant recounted his appearance: he made it to level 10, but missed winning the trip by a few seconds (the tape was checked, but only confirmed the original ruling)...however, he was later given an invite to return for the US/Canada tournament, had it actually happened.
That whole game show is boring. I would fall asleep on this, if this was an American game show.
Does this mean that the induction in September will be the last time the Wayneys are given out and they will be replaced next year by the Jameis? Just kidding. Game Show Garbage wouldn't be quite the same without the Wayneys, though the name does oddly rhyme...

While I still think Shopper's Casino is the worst game show of all time, I think Million Dollar Word Game is a verrrrrrrrry close second.
Also, methinks you should apologize to Jeff Maxwell and David McCreary as well. Even they could host SC and Ohio Lottery game shows (respectively) better than Ian Jamison could with MDWG. :D
