I totally agree the dark interior looks better on the Red 9 3 good job
Nice!!!! My Saab Aero project that I bought for $200 is trying to move alone myself. Rebuilding the engine now with new internals. Look just like yours, that same BLUE!!!! 2008 Saab 9-3 Aero. Keep up the good work, I am not too far behind you!!!
Dang $200!! Good for you on rescuing it. Best of luck in your project my friend!
Nice done but :) When you remove the backseat.. Use the springload and just a screwdriver to push the brik just inside the mount .You dont need to remove the 13mm nut :) Done it many times according to WIS :) Have the seat in a 45 degree angle and push it in and lift the seat at the same time :)
Ah i need to pay better attention to the WIS! In the junkyard I've tried removing the backseats without loosening those seat bolts but couldn't get the spring compressed enough to remove. Maybe I'm too weak or not enough leverage but I shall try again in the near future! Good stuff
@@WeakestofWeeks You start with the small part and angle it its a bit fideling to get it right. First time i took a fiew tryes :)
No question you made the right decision- it's your car and you should have it the way you want it. It's not like you are modifying with aftermarket crap. Still oringal Saab, just how you would order it from the factory if you were buying in 2008! Keep it up
if the passenger heat pad works, just swop the passenger seat pad to the driver's side and cut holes for the trim. I posted on how to do it on saabnet.com... doing this gives you a new factory fresh firm feel, as the passenger side seat isn't typically used as much. Saw your other video... I ordered a brand new saturn vue 08 satnav ... and hoping to get it married to my 07 without having to swop any parts. I'll keep you posted.
Good recommendation on the seat swap. I've actually done that before to recondition the driver seat on my 07 anniversary interior. I just saw your other comment and replied regarding the Saturn SatNav. Definitely keep us posted I'm very curious and excited to know how it works out!
Yea the new color combo is so much better for both cars!
you and i have the same mindset. i have a parchment interior but a black exterior. debating switching out to a grey interior. i have a 2011 93 turbo4 and I found a near perfect dark grey interior of a 08 93 wagon.
edit: look at you with the double dose of infotainment plus!!! mad lucky
Great job! I was lucky as my 2002 laser red SAAB 9-5 Aero already has the dark interior and my 2010 Saab 9-3 Fusion Blue already has the parchment interior. I agree with your design sensibilities.
Videos like yours have inspired me to get my next project Saab. Starting next year I will be in search for an 08 or newer 6-speed manual Saab. I'd prefer one that is XWD because I love it in my TX wagon but we can't always have everything we want.
❤ turbo X wagon. Glad I can be of some inspiration!
You right mate, red car with black trim and blue one with cream color fits perfectly.
Brilliant video.
Also, thru the power of JUNKYARDING, obtained all 4 Aero 314mm calipers, brackets, dust plates $90. And another yard following weekend entire 60th Anniversary trim seats, door panels, and center armrest $200 parts plus $70 for Uhaul.
2007 Saab 9-3 2.0T 6speed might be hitting 260k, but at least it will eventually go out comfortably after the dust settles.
Dang good finds! I love a good junkyard haul. If you haven't already, check out some of my other Saab videos. A few show how to swap the door panels, seats etc. and might be helpful. I also have a few vids from my last junkyard hauls as well.
Looks great, I have a laser red V6 with black interior too :)
Looked like a lot of work tho 😅
I'm jealous, would love that upgraded leather interior in my '07 Aero! I have to admit, I shun red cars, and prefer blue so I can't understand why you did the switch! I do appreciate your passion for Saabs though! keep it up, you inspired me to put the compass/auto dimmin mirror in my Turbo X- had it in my Aero and couldn't stand that the TX didn't have it. Loved your folding mirror video too- still considering that. If you ever get a line on the upgraded interior I'm interested. If life wasn't so busy I'd visit my local junkyard that has a few '08s.
Good choise,red black/blue
beige
I have the dark red and agree dark is probably the better choice but its a lot of cash to do it without a donor vehichle
I think it’s great I have a fusion blue that I’m collecting parts to do what you just did 👍💯 I have a subframe brace and strut tower brace on order as well
incredible job ! need to change centre console on 05 saab aero-is it difficult please ?
I got a 03 saab 9-3, and im trying to make it a race car, stripping it from all excess weight and I have the heater core left to take out, could you make a video on how to remove it. 👍
Both cars look much better .... !
Hey I was wondering how you were able to find a full interior to swap out with your red car. I’m looking for a black interior for my 1999 OG Saab 9-3. I was wondering if you bought it off a website or just bought the interior from someone else
I've been able to pull full interiors from junkyards but hard to find in decent shape. For this red car, I ended up buying a complete other project car to swap interiors with.
WHERE DID YOU GET THAT CUPHOLDER?!?!? I have never been able to find one of the ones that replace the plastic on the other side of the e brake. Thank!
Glad you asked. Check this video out that I did about it and where to get one: ua-cam.com/video/D6Pah8gua-s/v-deo.html
@@WeakestofWeeks awesome thank you so much! gonna have to put that on the build list and save for that. great videos by the way definitely subscribing keep up the good work!!
SAAB FUNK😲😭😆 great Job so much work but worth it 👌 both look as should be now
Maybe you can help me? I've inherited the entire 9 speaker 2 amp Bose system. Front 5 speakers and amps came from junkyard, the 2 rear pair parcel speakers on ebay. Between junkyard and ebay $110 for EVERYTHING. I'm trying to find a Bose Saab owner or visual reference. Am trying to find out of the shelf speakers are supposed to "sit" from above the metal cutouts or if they're below the metal cutouts hanging? And what type of screws/bolts.......
Car is a 2007 Saab 9-3 base with bare minimal Pioneer system no subs.
So I don't know much about the bose system conversion that you're doing but sounds like a neat upgrade. To answer your question about the rear shelf speakers, they sit on top of the metal shelf, then bolts go through top down. I believe factory would be using around m6 torx bolts but I imagine you can cobble something together that work to fasten them. Awhile ago I did a video on messing with my cars VCIM, which sits in between those speakers. Check the video out and around the 3:42 mark I take off that trim and in a few different camera angles you can sort of see the speakers. Hope that helps! Do you happen to know the location of the Yaw Sensor for XWD Auto?
The YAW sensor is under the center console near the gear selector and ISM. It's silver and rectangular and sould have 3 bolts and one electrical connector going into it. I believe the location is the same regardless of FWD or XWD. Actual part numbers between the two drive types are likely different though.
That first section of rear seat should just pull upwards and out.
Make a video how to remove the dash
It's surprisingly not difficult. I almost did at the time of this video but decided against it since most people wont be doing a swap like mine. If there's enough interest then I certainly can.
So, how do you remove the lower portion of the back seats? I had a real strugle last time and i think i did something wrong
Good question! I forgot to turn my camera on when I removed those. Probably not a good way to expain it. Basically, there are 2 clips that need forcibly yanked upward. If you were to be sitting in one of the outer most back seats (aka not the middle seat), there is one clip that would be almost in between where you calfs would be resting. One clip per side for the entire cushion. Yank up and the whole bottom cushion removes. You won't break the metal retainers on the bottom side of the cushion but may break the clips going into the floor. No big deal though you can always buy replacements: m.eeuroparts.com/Parts/88561/Seat-Cushion-Retainer-Rear-24437789/?gclid=Cj0KCQjw28T8BRDbARIsAEOMBcy_39Ttz5Ea79lfQVuCmfGDNTskT6iq3MIDiAn0d2lRcGTQugdXU48aAmsgEALw_wcB
I own the blue 9-3 in this video and I’m gearing up to put a black B50 interior back in it💀
I'm impressed u were able to find another B50 interior! It's really not an overly complicated swap but definitely time consuming
@@WeakestofWeeks I was lucky to find a blown motor snow silver 9-3 aero with the b50 interior. I’ve done many interior swaps on 9-5s so I have a bit of experience with it so it should be a fun learning experience
B50. lucky ass
Yo!! Can i buy this cream interior? Pm me
The cream interior is not for sale, it's installed in the blue Aero. I have the 1yr only dark interior from a 2007 60th anniversary 9-3 for sale though. Email me at Weakestofweeks@gmail.com if interested.
@@WeakestofWeeks i commented before watching full video lol. Sorry
