What is the build quality like? Is the Lack of SSB an issue for me? Where did I purchase mine? I discuss these and other basic questions regarding the SR 286
My DX-286 was from Amazon $89 US. It came with a neat carrying case, a USB charging cord, 2 battries and a complete instruction manuel. I'm amazed at MW ability to capture far away stations. I would recommend it for anyone who wants a reciever in a small package that you can put in your pocket.
In September, 2024 here in the US the DX-286 is $79.99 at Amazon. I’m on the fence about whether it’s a good value. It certainly is an excellent radio. But last month for $40 I got an XHData D-109WB- battery included 😊- from Amazon. The Qodosen is better on AM and FM than the D-109, but the radios are about equal on SW. The XHData, for half the price, also has weather band, NOAA alerts, is a Bluetooth speaker, and an MP3 player, all features the Qodosen doesn’t have. Sound quality on speaker and with earbuds is very similar on both radios. The DX-286 is a radio. It doesn’t have the other bells and whistles, it’s just really good at being a radio. But is it worth paying twice the price of the XHData?
The new Belka all mode now covers the long and medium wave bands which is handy…..shame it doesn’t do the fm broadcast bands….loving your great videos,always excellent reviews and content….best regards
For me, the standout feature was the fact that the muting while tuning is much less than most of the radios I’ve seen of this size. Couple that with good sensitivity on all bands, and I am impressed.
Mine arrived today. Yes, there is an a plastic film over the screen it is difficult to remove, mine was well packed also came with battery and soft & hard case which has a carbon fibre effect. I think build quality is good quite solid not as good as the Belka which has a metal case, very Sony looking from late 80s early 90s in my opinion
Double check that screen!! Mine looked like that and after careful prodding with a wooden skewer, sure enough - a plastic film came off. It was so perfectly aligned with the actual screen, it's very hard to detect. Seriously - check it. 73

I received one of these from Ali Express, I was very surprised to see that there was a battery included. I'm very happy with the radio.

Yes I now think that is the case.
It's a design copy of Sony SW1. Then couldn't manage to copy speaker design of original elliptical SW1. Instead just added simple round one.
