- The May 2015 issue of Trail magazine features an article by Oli Reed about his traverse of Skye's mighty Cuillin Ridge.
Oli wasn't alone on the ridge, though - naturally he had a guide with him: SALEWA sponsored climber Paddy Cave (MIC) of Mountain Circles.
Oli and Paddy were also accompanied by photographer and cameraman Stephen Ashworth of Movie iT who filmed the adventure for SALEWA.
Incredible video of an incredible place.
What perfect weather you had to film this in too!
I attempted the ridge once, but had to retreat from Sgurr Alisdair in near zero vis when we could not route find. Several days of bad weather scuppered further attempts. Will be going back...
Just done the full traverse 2 weeks ago and it has everything and more just amazing to do it
Brilliant video and reminds me of my attempt in June 2012. Have to ask though wtf with the soda and lime at the end, surely they deserved a proper pint!!!!
I'm heading to Skye in my Salewa Condors in a few weeks! Hope we get some nice weather ☺️
God that landscape is just gorgeous! I'm 59 munros in and saving the Cuillin for last. Still debating whether to bivvy or try for a full traverse in one day. I can see the upsides and downsides to both.
I'm trying the two day- bivy option in the first week of July. I have a friend who did it in a day and he almost passed out from exhaustion.
If you want I'll let you know how it goes.
@@Ma0Matthew47 How was it?
@@T0Msykes We ended up climbing in the Cairngorms haha. The weather was absolutely horrific on Skye so we had to postpone. It was pretty bad all over Scotland, just a little less worse in the east. If I ever get round to trying it again I'll let you know!
@@Ma0Matthew47 Awh that's a shame, but then of course, there's always a silver lining in the Cairngorms, fair play!! Nice one.
It was hot! We needed refreshment! The beers came later...
Does anybody know what music is being played throughout this video?
+Keith Crompton I'd like to know this too, it's ace.

Annoying music, is what.
It's like they cut 1000m off the top of the nastiest Alps and dropped it in the ocean. Awesome.
Hehe, true Paul! ;-)
beautifulllll
I am not being rude here, but this is the second video I have watched with Paddy Cave speaking and I just can't make out what he's saying. He mumbles at pace in an indeterminate accent... Apologies, no offence intended by this comment!
