- I commissioned the multi-talented Iranian composer Golfam Khayam to write a piece for my "Diaspora Project" of seven new works for guitar. "Lost Land" captures her feelings of disorientation upon returning to her homeland after years abroad. Using elements of Bach, Persian improvisitory ornaments and the evocative low A tuning on the 6th string, Golfam creates a haunting sense of space and emotional content. It was such a pleasure to work with Golfam on the piece, and to prepare the score for publication. It was recently published by Doberman/Yppan. Thanks to the Augustine Foundation for their support in the entire Diaspora commissioning project.
She is such a wonderful artist ..
a great depth to her music .. in your hands..this is such beautiful, masterful and expressive playing.. beyond words really..timeless and eternal. Thank you
Is the Diaspora project available as a release? So keen to hear the complete works.
Amazing
Very Cool!
Cool
Sad when a good player starts playing these double tops with their heavy basses and wolfnotes galore.
Especially in his case, coming from a fantastic Humphrey - a maker who made some of the best classical guitars ever. Full of tone and character...and well balanced too.
Amazing performance and good unique music. Perfect.
breathtaking and a little domeniconiesque.
Beautiful. I’ve always enjoyed your playing.
I can’t find many performances from Golfam around so I’m glad you put this one out. I hope she’s is planning a record soon, her and Laura Snowden need LPs we can enjoy. Cheers Bill for all you music too!
