No. In germany this stuffs illegal too but it doesn't need to be in order to increase the charge when commiting a crime, as e.g. stealing is a lighter offense then stealing while armed, where a box cutter is enough to make that change.
Yup, it's like how they got Al Capone on tax evasion. If you can't nail a thug for what they actually did, you can at least lock them up for possessing thug tools.
in canada, butterfly knives were banned from ownership because they were popular in gangs. banning them guaranteed you had an offense to arrest and search a suspected criminal for, since it was pretty much guaranteed any gang member would own one. in great britain, katana are banned from ownership (with a few extra details to not bother museums), because owning a katana was a trend among gang leaders at some point. similarly it means you could easily arrest and search gang leaders based on that ownership of banned item offense when you didn't have solid proof of their activities. this is not the way to make laws. laws that are meant to be too restrictive and only applied on a whim are literal dictatorship.
A little stricter thing over here in Nevada, whatever is legal to own is legal to open carry. So you don't need a permit or a CCW to carry a gun as long as it's on your hip for others to see

There a some stupid laws but a baton is legal once you have the require license. Just like a gun. The reasoning is because a knife is a tool that have many utility uses and not solely for hurting someone. The same can't really be said about a baton. Baton is solely a weapon with almost no utility purpose for an everyday civilian.
retractable batons are sold as nonlethal, easy to use self defense tools, despite not being any of those things. It makes perfect sense you would need a license for that.
@@Oldass_Deadass_dumbass_channel so what is a good self defense item, shooting foam at them? I've never seen any batons being marketed as non lethal, most if not all of them are less-lethal. What part of not being "easy to use" makes "perfect sense" so as to the notion that there should be a license to own them? Why isn't there a permit to be able to use your hands and feet in a self defense situation? I mean, it certainly does seem like you'd need at least some form of training to know what you're doing with them.
@@NoReply28 Anything can be a weapon if used as such, the whole "it has almost no utility for an every day civilian" argument is completely irrelevant. I mean by that logic, why aren't ice picks illegal to own unless they have a completely arbitrary blade length and so on and on? Even a pen could be used as a weapon, to permanently blind someone. Plus, is self defense just some irrelevant purpose now? I mean, potentially saving your life from a bad situation definitely sounds like something important to me.
Butterfly knives being illegal only if concealed is such a funny law. That means the proper legal way to carry one is to openly flip it around, preferably while doing the 50's greaser creep walk and snapping your fingers. Absolute gold.
We have no such restrictions here(Missouri). The only restrictions we have are knife length with respect to concealment, which I believe is max of 4” blade length for concealment. You can open carry in a sheath just about any length. Though local municipalities may have their own rules, the state doesn’t really have any. Interestingly, brass knuckles are outlawed. Not sure why.
I've heard of guys carrying hammers, which is about as lethal a weapon as you can carry short of a firearm of some kind, but if they're pulled aside by a cop they can honestly say they don't have a weapon just some old hand tool.
Everything on the desk is legal where I live unless an officer decides otherwise in which case they can accuse you of carrying with intent to do harm and then pretty much everything becomes illegal. They like to keep laws nice and vagues so they can accuse you of whatever they want.
Funny enough in Massachusetts the expandable baton is legal but a billy club is illegal, because of a technicality in the language on how the law was written.

But when I was still in military academy, some special service security that guards the parliament and politicians, came and held a talk for us. They said that the law also prevents them to have these sticks, but it would be very useful for when the guarded person is grabbed by someone in the crowd and they would have to brake the hold on them. So they had procurement order them a special gear set that consisted of mirrors that could be attached to telescopic titanium sticks. The gear is supposed to be for when they use the mirror to check under the cars for bombs, but of course, they would need to carry the mirror handles on their belt and the mirrors in their suit. They called these handles "tactical mirror attachment handles" :D The handles could be legally carried and when the need arise....

Actual deadly knives: *Can get you arrested*
Retractable Baton: *WILL get you arrested*
May I ask why we still have these laws?
There a some stupid laws but a baton is legal once you have the require license. Just like a gun. The reasoning is because a knife is a tool that have many utility uses and not solely for hurting someone. The same can't really be said about a baton. Baton is solely a weapon with almost no utility purpose for an everyday civilian.

@@NoReply28 Anything can be a weapon if used as such, the whole "it has almost no utility for an every day civilian" argument is completely irrelevant.

Great buds, fantastic wildlife/nature and lots of guns. You guys live up to your motto "the way life should be"
Same with Kentucky. Coupled with some of the most relaxed gun laws in the world. It's great.

i live in TN, and here knuckle dusters are completely illegal.... HOWEVER i can carry ANY length blade openly OR concealed (switchblades, gravity knives, balisong, it's ALL good), AND i can openly carry a firearm with no training or permit AND it's illegal for police to ask me questions about said gun.
In Az we need no permits to carry concealed. I carry a otf knife and a P226 when i leave home. Just cant be a felon to have a fire arm.
All of these are legal in ohio and we are officially a constitutional carry state now as well, so you can open carry or carry concealed.. and we have stand your ground laws, so you don't have to retreat to prove your self defense if someone is attacking you. I'm for all of it.
I think only one more state needs to pass constitutional carry for the majority of states to be constitutional carry states.
I bought this same gravity knife when Ohio changed the laws. I always have it with me now. It's a really cool knife.

A company found a loophole in the law in regards to balisong knives and created a butterfly machete for the UK Market.

Maybe a technical loophole, but I wouldn’t want to be the one who tests that loophole in U.K. courts. I imagine there are all kinds of laws around intent, as well as archaic laws on public order etc., which could be used to punish you for having one on your person in any manner of situations.

The second amendment means ALL arms, not just firearms.
Correct
The 2nd amendment is pretty clear. It mentions nothing about guns or firearms. It mentions arms. Which includes guns and anything that you use for defense. Which a Billy club or switchblade or brass knuckles plainly do.
I have been relentlessly been teaching people this since the woke generation came about, glad to see it finally catching on
So your saying we all gotta get our arms amputated?
@@owaind-g678 I think your enthusiasm for wit caused you to misunderstand what I'm saying.
To clarify, I'm saying that people focus too much on firearms being the focus of 2nd amendment arguments. Anything that could be used as a defensive/offensive weapon is an arm, including the ones attached to you from birth, and I think that regulation of any of them is a violation of the 2nd amendment.

California is the only state where expandable batons are illegal to both own and carry. In Massachusetts, New York, and Washington D.C. batons are illegal to carry, but legal to own for home use. There are no federal laws against carrying expandable batons.
Thankfully these bans also work on criminals
Haha. Right,
Some people are incredibly Naive! 😂

Fun fact: in Austria only the brass knuckles are illegal. The baton only if it has an enlarged end (like a steel ball or something like this).

Canada you can carry knuckle dusters as long as they are not made of an "alloy metal" (i think thats the term they use). You cannot carry ANY one handed opening folding knife (even though they are sold everywhere invluding home depot) BUT you can carry any sized fixed blade (katana, broadsword, machete for example)
Most of these are legal in texas, but make sure to check local regs AND "Places Where Weapons Prohibited" clauses bc you can still get in trouble for something that's legal normally in an unauthorized (and not always obviously so) place

Legal here in PA. Gravity knife legal, OTF knives are illegal, balisongs are legal for pocket carry, can be concealed. Expandable batons are legal here. PA has some of the toughest laws but this video shows almost none...yet I can buy an OTF knife legally here, I can't carry it.
