- The Philippines and the country's largest Muslim rebel group have signed a historic peace agreement, after 17 years of negotiations and decades of fighting that killed at least 120,000 in the southern island of Mindanao. Al Jazeera's Jamela Alindogan reports from Mindanao.

#peace should dominate. AS oppression and injustice occur, ppl turn to be violent, then violence gets violence - no matter what color or religion they got. Hate speech is good for no one. In #Islam a legitimate defense for the land, honor and family is #Jihad , but when peace comes to view, it is recommended to go thru it. After all these years of fight and hate we all know it is not gona be an easy thing to reach a compromise. But we all agree that as far as there is no #justice = no peace. I know this is from many years ago, but iff there is a peace deal then why is there still fighting between rebel forces and the Philippine military. I keep hearing about peace deals that don't seem to exist. And it's not just the fact they are still fighting, but trying to hide details or hide the fact that there is still fighting going on.....plus I saw another post that said violence begets more violence. It is true when people are suppressed, repressed, and depressed from constantly living in poor and terrible conditions without even enough pay to support themselves, let alone a family and forced to live that way constantly, along with a poor educational system that does not even teach the simplest proper ways if how to live in a society and doesn't even teach things like proper hygiene for example. My daughter, while attending elementary class in the Philippines, had a whole 20 minute session on how to maintain proper hygiene out of the whole year, while during the other years she was taught nothing. If children are not taught properly then they cannot grow up to teach their children the proper ways of life. They are not taught to respect eachother or respect personal space or future consequences of bad actions, while people think they can do anything terrible and disrespectful to eachother without consequences. It is a good thing my daughter has me and her mom to teach her how to do things properly. Even the school books for class are poor examples because they are filled with misspellings, mathematical errors, wrong descriptions, and wrong definitions. I mean there is a lot of those mistakes. The best part is they will use some American publishing company name just to make it look cool, but then if you read the fine print you will see that Philippines and/or china was involved in it's making a d not America. I contacted a manufacturer of the books and found they had nothing to do with making the books and found out the books are fakes. So the school in the Philippines are using fake books I guess. That is the examples of the delinquency of Philippine schools and why people do not have the education they could be getting. When I had seen the curriculum of the teachings in the different schools, I found that the teachings of highschools in the Philippines was far behind U.S. because the subjects and low levels from our elementary school is what is being taught in the highschools of the Philippines. The Philippine colleges teach the lower levels of our junior highschool to the early years of our highschools. On top of that that is the modern Philippine schools compared to the U.S. schools of about 15 years ago. I put my daughter in a private school at nearly 40,000 pesos per year. The teaching is not much better than public government schools, but they do not have to sit and senselessly write all day without knowing what they are being taught while the teachers sit in the corner falling asleep at the public schools. During the pandemic, my daughter's private school used homeschooling via internet. The cost of the school went up as the teaching became worse because teachers keep cancelling classes for the day. She only has 2 teachers. Many times she had one class per week and there were even some weeks she had no class. When she does have class it is only about 40 minutes. Then the teacher would keep rescheduling to different days and times and make class 3 times as long. They did all of this without the permission of the parents. There are time that families have needs, routines, and other schedules to carry out and should not be interrupted by teachers that are always delinquent. It seems the government chooses to keep their people knocked down because they cold provide a good education if they wish. With all of the corruption going on it seems that the government does not want the people to be educated so the people cannot be smart enough to rise up against the corruption, while the government can tell the people anything and they will just listen and do it without knowing the truth. In Marcos' time the Philippines was not poor, people had a good education, were told the truth, were given free meals in school, free drinks, gree snacks, given free books, free pens, pencils, erasers, and notebooks. People knew proper ways. Marcos was ruined because that is what happens to people that do good and take care of problems. The majority of the schools now-days need help to thrive and do better so their students can thrive, but there are also a few remaining top-notch schools in the Philippines.
