Sabah was a gift by the sultan of brunei to the sultan of sulu even before malaysia became a country. It was rented by the British oil company and then handed to malaysia to continue the rent. However, Malaysia stopped the rent in 2013.

You need to prove your sovereignty first before you can claim of an attack from an outsider. But who are the outsiders? The owners of the property since 1658, or the renter Malaysia which became a country only recently 1963.
They are not rebels, they are claiming what is rightfully theirs (Sultanate of Sulu). Malaysia is now defeated through an arbitration ruling of the court awarding Sabah to the Sultanate.

You dont believe our version of history, I nothing more to say. Anyway, I strongly suggest you to visit Brunei History Centre as there are a lot of information related to this matter.
Malaysia did not brought about PEACE in but played a major role in instigating unrest and division among the people of Mindanao and still continue doing so up to this day and age which by the way has been admitted by the federal government on the record and international media itself, thus ultimately prove that if the Philippine government take back Sabah and bring Malaysia to court , whole of Mindanao will flourished bringing the whole country in collective progress growth. You must remember the federal government of Malaysia played the biggest blunder in the history of the Philippines when they instigated rebellion in Mindanao and supported a Traitor who killed himself to be proclaimed hero and to oust then President Marcos who has all intension to reunite Sabah to it's mother land. By doing so The federal government of Malaysia is by all means accountable to the injustice done to the Filipino people and continually support terror groups up to now thus keeping the Philippines in developing to the fullest. Core basis of the arguments are facts and the owners of the land has been so lenient in asserting of the claims to avoid war simply because the Sabahans are blood related to the Filipinos of Mindanao. The treachery, intimidation, inhumane acts, atrocities, and illegal land grabbing of the Colonial powers has come to full cycle. More historical information should now be prepared to inform the general public. A hierarchal diagram of the sultanate of Sulu would be of great help for understanding the royal family structure. Time to give importance to our Muslim brothers and sisters.

In my view, if the Philippine government recognizes the Sulu government as a sovereign government, logically, the Sulu government has the right to claim and establish its own government in the south of the Philippines. Therefore, the philippines had to hand over their land in the south of the philippines to the sulu kingdom as a new country.
From Malaysia's point of view, Malaysia does not recognize the Sulu kingdom and its heirs because in the original agreement the Sulu sultanate had surrendered all its sovereignty in Sabah to the British before the existence of Malaysia. In the agreement, sultan sulu will not claim and absolutely hand over power to Sabah with the promised compensation. Even the term 'lease' has been dropped and in total Sulu has no rights over Sabah.
However, in 2013, Sulu heirs violated the agreement by claiming Sabah and started a military attack on Sabah. Therefore, the Malaysian government has the right to stop the payment because Sulu has violated the agreement. This military action has challenged the agreement and violated Malaysia's sovereign boundaries.
Malaysia still adheres to ASEAN principles and can still be diplomatic. But when it comes to sovereignty, Malaysia will not compromise. Don't let Malaysia take the approach of treating the Philippines as 'persona non grata'
British have no legal right to come up to New agreement with Malaysia without any concent from the sultanate of Sulo which is the real owner of Saba this is a total disregard,dishonor or bypass to the right of Owner.

It was the British who manipulated ownership of North Borneo, utilizing these lands as their plantation. Another example of how power and greed when combined they turn the world upside down. Sad to say I don't think that piece of land will be returned to the rightful owner "Sultanate of Sulu" during my lifetime. March 2022 Malaysia is asked now to pay $14.9 B to the Sultanate of Sulu by the Arbitral Court.
What is clear is that up until now Malaysia is paying rent to the Sultanate of Sulu amounting 5,000 ringgit a year, therefore Malaysia has no right to claimed ownership Sabah to International court since Malaysia is only a tenant.
It's not rent money, it cession money. Cession means "the formal giving up of rights, property, or territory by a state." You read that right, the Sulu sultanate gave up all claims to Sabah ages ago.

The original Lease contract between Sulu Sultanate & Baron Overbeck which he later transferred to Alfred Dent then transferred to the British North Borneo company.. The BNB Company ceding Sabah to British Crown does not terminate the binding contract of the leased property Sabah.. It must still be honored by whosoever succeeds the property.. And the very reason why Malaysia continued to pay the Rent of Lease obligation until 2013...
@@dannybarcenas9701I think you were confused and misunderstood. Madrid Court didn't rule in favour of Sulu, it ruled in favour of Malaysia and Sulu lost. Then Sulu and the gang including their Arbitrator Gonzalo Stampa ran to Paris and put up their case in Paris Court. If Sulu was sincere, they should pursue their case further in Madrid court of appeal. It was Paris Court that ruled in favour of Sulu and they won easily became Malaysia didn't participate in the proceeding. Why Malaysia didn't participate? Because Malaysia has already won in Madrid Court.
Stampa's action of going to Paris and put up their case in Paris Court when Madrid Court had already gave its ruling was seen by Spanish Judicial Authority as "contempt of court" and "professional intrusiveness". Followin this Stampa's appointment as an Arbritrator was revoked or annulled by Spanish Judicial Authority and his arbitration was also annulled. Criminal proceeding was also taken against him.
Malaysia applied for stays of enforcement and annulment of Paris Court ruling in Paris Court of Appeal and in various other Court of Appeal in Luxembourg and Netherlands for other related claims put up by Sulu. And finally Malaysia won and Sulu lost in various Courts of Appeal.
Latest as in June 2023:
1. June 6th - Paris Court of Appeal had set aside and annulled the previous Paris Court ruling awarding the defunct Sulu Sultanate.
2. June 27th - Dutch Court of Appeal in The Hegue had dismissed a bid by eight heirs of former Sultan of Sulu to enforce Paris Court ruling, and dismissed an attempt to seize Malaysian assets following the Paris Court of Appeal decision.
3. Paris Court of Appeal also imposed on Sulu €100,000.00 to be paid to Malaysia as legal cost.
4. In Luxembourg, a second attempt to seize Malaysian Petronas assets had been filed in Luxembourg Court due for hearing in September 2023 after the first attempt was dismissed. This will likely be dismissed too following the Paris Court of Appeal decision.
Now is already November 2023, no news about Sulu's claim proceeding in Luxembourg Court. It looked like they withdrew their case after they acknowledged the Paris Court of Appeal decision.
Malaysia had spent upto RM32m (USD6. 6m) to deal with these Sulu's claim cases in various European courts in Madrid, Paris, Luxembourg and Netherlands. Apart from the €100,000.00 Sulu has to pay to Malaysia as legal cost, Malaysia is planning to sue Sulu for compensation for the loss of RM32m (USD6.6m) spent.

Simple logic must be applied: if Malaysia still paying its rent up to now, does that mean he owns what he was renting? There are reports prior to the standoff, that the Malaysian ambassador to the Philippines went to see the Sultan and negotiate to extend the lease for another 100 years with 360,000 ringgit annually. If your gov't really confident that own sabah, why would they do such thing?

The fact that Malaysia recognized the agreement by paying lease to the Sultan of Sulu, it's enough proof that they still have the proprietary rights of the territory. If Malaysia is not willing to return the land to its rightful owner they should at least compensate the family of Sultan. Otherwise, you can call it land grabbing or occupation like what Israel did to the Palestinian land or the Chinese occupying Tibet.

The truth is the former bruneian sultanate/king never said to give the northern land of borneo to sultanate of sulu but clearly said in the agreement that the land is loan or "pajak" in malay language as writte.... Do not forget Sabahan voted to join Malaysia, what the people want is what matter the most, no Sabahan want to be ruled by a long gone kingdom. The issues here is all about the 1963 newly formed Federation of Malaysia who wants to take back Sabah what is donated by the King of North Borneo as a gesture of appreciation to the Sultanate of Sulu for his timely assistance to the kingdom when threatened by the foreign invaders. So, what is given centuries ago cannot be taken back by the newly formed government of Malaysia especially if it was handed over to them by the North Borneo Oil Company, a private entity, who turned out as a tenant or a renter only of the Sultanate of Sulu. As a matter of fact, the lease contract was well documented.

In my view, if the Philippine government recognizes the Sulu government as a sovereign government, logically, the Sulu government has the right to claim and establish its own government in the south of the Philippines. Therefore, the philippines had to hand over their land in the south of the philippines to the sulu kingdom as a new country.
From Malaysia's point of view, Malaysia does not recognize the Sulu kingdom and its heirs because in the original agreement the Sulu sultanate had surrendered all its sovereignty in Sabah to the British before the existence of Malaysia. In the agreement, sultan sulu will not claim and absolutely hand over power to Sabah with the promised compensation. Even the term 'lease' has been dropped and in total Sulu has no rights over Sabah.
However, in 2013, Sulu heirs violated the agreement by claiming Sabah and started a military attack on Sabah. Therefore, the Malaysian government has the right to stop the payment because Sulu has violated the agreement. This military action has challenged the agreement and violated Malaysia's sovereign boundaries.
Malaysia still adheres to ASEAN principles and can still be diplomatic. But when it comes to sovereignty, Malaysia will not compromise. Don't let Malaysia take the approach of treating the Philippines as 'persona non grata'
