They’re my all time favourite band. 6 albums, an EP and numerous b sides/ singles and not one I’d skip
I too love them. I do tend to skip '2013' but absolutely agree.
We are the same person.
The Only song I would skip is Brick by Brick. And Probably One for the Road.
You must be lying if you think the jazz album was good 😂
@@DJChipsandGarlic ah so your one of "those people" hey?
Yes! More of this, please. I am a diehard Arctic Monkeys fan and you guys have started at the perfect place. This album is fastest selling and most successful debut album by a British band/artist in history. Honestly I would suggest an entire album review of Whatever People Say I am that is What I'm Not. In 2009 MTV rated it the 9th Greatest Album Ever. It's also chronicled in a book called 1,001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die. Turner's lyricism has earned him the moniker of "Master of Observation."
If you enjoy the album you will love the journey they take you on in subsequent albums from their catalogue, though their sound does evolve over time as they experiment and spread their wings sonically. So stoked to hear two gentlemen from a generation before my own provide their take on a band that I believe stands among the best of all time. Thanks for this!
Equally stoked to receive this feedback from such a devoted Arctic Monkeys fan as yourself. Thank you!
They were NINETEEN when they made this!!!!
Great video! Arctic Monkeys have 6 great albums each with an different sound. I think you should listen to a couple songs from each album before moving onto the next album so you can get a feel for how they evolve. From this first album be sure to try ‘When the sun goes down’, ‘Mardy Bum’, ‘Dancing shoes’ and definitely ‘A Certain Romance’. Although I’m sure you’ll like whichever song you pick because they’re all great
Thanks for the suggestions! - G.
I wasn't that crazy on their last album, but I concur about the rest 👌
@@intothemusic908 Mardy Bum, along with this, probably their most well known.
If you like Arctic Monkeys you should checkout Alex Turner’s side project The Last Shadow Puppets.
So good!!! MORE ARCTIC MONKEYS!!!!
Supergrass is another English band with insane hooks, energy and fun that reminds me a bit of these guys.
Artic Monkeys fantastic band I love them and I’m 57 😀 we are so lucky here in the north of England we have so many great bands
Indeed you do! Thanks for reaching out.
Wow, I've just wrote about the North, then scrolled down and read this.
@@intothemusic908 hi into the music can you do me a big favour and have a look at my sons band they are called aligners previously known as lascala if you look up sixties hearse and hours you will be able to find them, they are a young band and have a good following around our area, my lad is the singer and writes the songs. There is lots of their gigs on the Warrington music you tube page... thanking you in advance for making a more mature lady happy 😘
Nice catch on reference to Rio by Duran Duran. I never realized that 😊 love this band!
Skint - Broke, no money.
Hey brothers. It’s been a long time. Looking good. You mention Bowie as an influencer. The Arctic Monkeys are now influencers. Check out Yungblud’s “Original Me”. Enjoy!
Hey Rob!! Long time indeed! Hope all is well. Will definitely put that one on the list! - Greg
I'm so pleased when I hear Americans say the like to hear UK bands sing in there natural accents as for a long time it seemed like UK bands were ashamed of their British accent and would try to mimic American accents to try to break America. I feel since Britpop and the 90's there has been an explosion in regional UK accents and at times even exaggerated accents to prove their British credentials. There are some great British bands that seem to get very little profile in the US like Skunk Anansie, a great rock band that has been around for over 25 years now, I'd recommend their track Twisted, but to get a real feel for the band, I'd check out Pol'and Rock 2019 and the live version of Twisted.
My 12 year old daughter, for whom I'm hopelessly uncool, was shocked to hear me hum 'Do I Wanna Know?" Equally shocked I asked her if she knew of Arctic Monkeys. "Everyone who likes good music likes these guys", she said. I couldn't stop shaking my head.
This is a band that initially compared to The Libertines and that's what I found attractive about them. A much cleaner, palatable version. I got over Barat and Doherty soon enough, but my fascination with Arctic Monkeys is never ending.
Love this!
"Pissed" in this context means drunk, not angry. "Skint" means having no money
great the arctic monkeys first uk hit with many more. there led singer also sings with another band called last of shadow puppets they have a great track called my dreams were made for you.
Please react to A Certain Romance, it’s the last song on the first album and it’s my favourite song from them, my favourite band and A Certain Romance has everything you could ever expect from a good rock and roll tune, one of the most complete songs ever and it ends one of the most complete albums ever
It's not very often you find a Duran Duran reference and a Shakespeare reference in the same 3 minute song!
Leave it to us!
Might have been born in Sheffield but honed at Barnsley College.
please do: perhaps vampires is a bit strong but... i love these reactions !
Alex Turner has a Sheffield accent. I love that he didn't change that throughout the years.
His accent has changed
he tries to sound american now
@@BF-es7gs American accents come from everywhere so he doesn’t try and “sound American”
@@indiaknowlden9699 he does listen to an interview from 2006 then one from 2014
Nah
The AM album is brilliant
My least favourite out of their 6
I think commercially it's been their most successful albums. Although that doesn't always translate into best album overall for a band. Will definitely dive into many songs of theirs on this channel.
“This is a song written in 2004. Back then, it meant very little. Tonight, it means even less.” Alex Turner introducing I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor in one of their more recent gigs (2018 forward, I believe)
1984 is a reference to a band called 1984 that was around the Sheffield scene when they were coming up...the lead singer used to dance like Ian Curtis...hence like a robot from....etc etc
The accents in England are so different. Alex Turner is from the North of England and we have a faster accent and we often shorten words like 'Anything' (Owt). I'm from further up North (Burnley, Lancashire). Where our accents are different too. They are so many brilliant bands from the North, that for some reason never made it in the U. S. Or Canada. Try Listening to the band 'The Courteeners', especially the first album St Jude. Songs like 'Bide your time', 'What took you so long', 'please don't'.... It's a massive album with no album filling songs. Other bands are 'Ocean colour scene' with their album 'Moseley Shoals'. The Band James which I think had one hit laid in the U. S. Ooooo and how could I forget the 'Stone Roses' with their self titled first album. If you would like anymore suggestions let me know. It's good to see two 'Young lads' being open minded with new music (To you). Songs and bands that we have loved for a generation up here in the North West of England. Respect Chaps 👆👌😎
I’m from the UK and the Arctic Monkeys exploded onto the mousing scene and were adored in the UK.. real seminal band for many people 😁🇬🇧
You need to listen to Do I Wana Know by Arctic monkeys, especially if you like a good bass.
What is great about the early Arctic Monkeys is they embraced their local Sheffield accent. They lost it as they moved on...
Drop the THE
Pretty Good energy. Not really in my sphere but i going to listen more. Thanks!!
My favourite band by far🔥
They were kids.
From Sheffield.. Sth York shire.. We love them here.
worst lyrics song alex made
he said it himself
My favorite Arctic Monkeys song.
Some proper music on this channel
Thanks!
@@intothemusic908 the channel should grow soon . Could you react to "Oasis - Whatever"
For the nice comment 😃 lol , there probably the biggest band in the UK or at least one of
Can you react to Oasis - whatever .

That was Supersonic

They've made soooo many better songs than this!!!!!
