7:45 Speaking of the origin of Germany's name, it is quite obvious that the romans were immensely proud of creating it, since there are many people and titles of the Roman world with the name of Germania. For example, Emperor Caligula tried to rename the month of September as Germanicus (after his father), but he couldn't make it happen. Who did manage to rename September as Germanicus was Domitian, in honor of his presumed victories in Germania, maintaining said name change until his assassination. Imagine visiting Germany in Germanicus...

A quick note on Herceg - it's not an "old" world for Duke. The English word Duke is derived from the French Duc, which itself is based on the Latin word dux (leader). The word herceg is also found in Hungarian, and also in German the title is Herzog. All these go back to the Germanic word herizogo, which originally means "army leader" (the Germanic word heri/her/heer/... originally means "many" and is (still) used for Army). TL;DR - not old, just Germanic origin vs. Roman origin.

Saying Germany comes from Germania doesn't really tell us the origin. Saying that a country is named after a tribe with the same name (e.g. Serbia named after the Serbs) also doesn't tell us anything. Cyprus/Kypros (pronounced koopros) is related to "copper" because copper is named after it. Its origin is much older and is disputed. "Dutch" doesn't come from Old English, it comes from an older Germanic word that's related to Old English thiod/theod and is also the source of the German "Deutsch" which means German. It originally meant "people." The Greek name for Ireland wasn't Lerna, it was Ierne. Ierne, Hibernia (Latin), and Eriu (Old Irish) come from a much older word that has been reconstructed as *Iveriu, which probably meant something like "abundant land." You should probably consult someone with a background in historical linguistics before producing videos like this.

Caesar got Germania from the Gauls, originally thought to come from a Gaulic word for "neighbour". Also, Germans don't call it Germany but Deutschland meaning "country of the people" from "diutisc" meaning "of the people", specifically of the people speaking a Germanic language. Basically, an oversimplified summary of the etymology is "German" -> our neighbours that speak a different group of languages, while "Deutsch" -> we here who speak our group of languages... most Slavic countries also have a similar logic to their name for Germany with most of them coming from "Nemets" (or variations thereof) meaning mute or can't speak, but it's mostly believed that when the name came into existence it had the meaning "can't speak our language". Then there are the countries that have names for Germany based on "Alemanni" which was a self-descriptor (meaning "all men") of a tribal coalition that settled around the upper Rhine during the fall of the Western Roman Empire.

The title should have been "origin of each European Country name in ENGLISH".
Greece is from the tribe of Graeans (from Graea/Γραία a city-state in Euboea) who established the first Greek colony in Italy. The first Latin speaking people who made contact with them, called them Graeci. The Greek endonym is Ελλάς or Ελλάδα, recognised as Hellas by the non-Greek speakers. Its origin is unknown. Could be related to the priestly tribe of Σελλοί/Selloi in Epirus who served at the most ancient oracle in Greece, the oracle of Dodona dedicated to Zeus. From there the name Σελλασία/Sellasia spread initially to Thessaly, it was debuccalised to Ἑλλάς Hellas and became synonymous with the area of the Greek speaking tribes. The name Σελλοί/Σελλασία is probably related to the name of glow, σέλας/sélas hence σελήνη selḗnē for the moon

P.S. Citizens of the country which shares borders with Greece and wants to be called Macedonia, are not really Macedonians...

Also Russia is debatable since it has a lot to do with european history but isn’t strictly speaking a european national state but rather (at least de facto) still an empire inhabited by many ethnicities not just by slavs or the decedents of the Rus, that is why the imperialist mentality is still very strong there. Russia's European side is west of Ural mountains and Kazakhstan's European side is west of Ural river. Greater Caucasian mountain range includes parts of Georgia and Azerbaijan.

Old english word norþweg is old norse in origin. It's still similar in modern scandinavian languages "nordväg" swedish, "nordvei" norwegian, "nordvej" danish & "norður vegur" in icelandic.
Norway is not based on old english but rather old Norse. So again, the old english word for north way is influenced by old Norse along with a multitude of other english words.
There is a reason scandinavian languages are so similar in structure and words to english apart from all having germanic roots. That's due to the vikings setteling what is now parts of UK.

But in Albanian the modern name is far from Albania, it’s Shqiperia, the land of Eagles. Other forms of indigenous Albanian names for Albania include Arberia, which Italo-Albanians the Arbereshe still use today.

GERMANI. The Germans invaded Roman Italy about 100 BC. The war against them lasted years. The word "Germanus" was probably from a negotiation where a Roman asked them for their identity and they said "Germans" which became "Germani". Around 1600 Englishmen ambiguously referred to the Hollanders and the Deutsch as "Dutch". Shakespeare revived the old Latin term. So what does it mean?
Gewehr in modern German means defense. Related words are guardia in Italian and garde in French and war in English (Old English cwarre). So a negotiator answering "We are the Germans" could have meant 'We are the defenders" or "We are the warriors."
Or..... gar is the name of a fish. It is from an Old English word gar meaning spear. So "We are the Germans" could have meant "We are the spearmen."
