I see TDE somewhat differently. To me it comes across as more of looking past the flawed options that exist, to instead go after the true cause of the issues themselves. All the Reasons are flawed, but because a system exists that allows for Conception to exist, anyone can cause the world to just end and then be remade. All of these people are forced into roles by powers beyond them, some even cursed into existences because of the systems that exist. So instead of returning things to how they were, or changing things with the system that was forced upon you, you take the path of destroying the system itself that controls all of this. But because it is a system that is deeply rooted in the very existence of the universe, destroying it comes at a heavy price. This is pretty accurate to reality, with how many flawed systems affect the lives of people, and yet if you were to change or even remove those systems, loads of things would be affected due to how they're tied into large networks of cause and effect. So many dumb laws exist just because they have ties to other more important ones for example. So to me TDE just means that you are willing to go after the entire system itself that has forced you and everyone else into this situation. Your motivations and reasons for doing this can vary in loads of ways, and it's quite nuanced since it isn't entirely cut and dry about whether it is for the best or not. You didn't choose your position, no one chose their lives in this universe nor that the universe could be destroyed at any given point. You're as much of a victim as everyone else. What ever your choice ends up being, you cannot be held fully responsible for any of it. Are you willing to make that sacrifice, to completely erase your humanity for an end goal that might free everyone from oppression? Is it truly worth it? Everyone just wants to have a normal life, but that can be taken away at any given moment as long as Conception exists. But no one can be blamed for choosing things to return back to normal either. No one has the right to choose your life for you.
It’s hard to see it as a sacrifice when everyone that you’re trying to save is thoroughly unlikable. Really, it feels like you got scammed into doing what Lucifer wants.
@@pn2294 You're doing this for the sake of everyone and everything, trying to free humanity from a system that decides their roles in life, their value, a system that allows for anyone and anything to just suddenly deem all life as worthless and worth erasing. Demi-Fiend didn't choose his own position, his friends didn't choose theirs, and as long as Conception exists, such a fate can fall upon anyone. Hell, he could've been born as one of those humans who were erased in an instant instead, having absolutely no say in the matter before or after it. Even Lucifer ends up being yet another figure whose role is being determined for him by something else. No one is free, no one gets to choose who and what they are. The angels might actually have it even worse considering how little they're even allowed to display individuality.
@@pn2294 Now I'm confused. How did you get the idea of a suicide cult? This is a multiverse that deals with a reincarnation cycle and deities trying to rule over the said cycle. Resetting a universe won't remove that control because it uses this specific universe creation system, meaning the system stays in place and can be used by anyone at any given moment again. The issue won't go away and the cycle will repeat. Nothing will change if you go along with it. Next time you probably won't even get to play a role in it.

Good vid. I played Nocturne for the first time in 2019-2020 and it also served as my formal introduction to the SMT series. I really fell in love with the game for most of the reasons (no pun intended) you discussed in this video. Most notably though was the battle system. Something I heard someone say about Nocturne that intrigued me was the reason they liked it so much was because it's essentially a JRPG boss rush game. With the addition of the fiends Nocturne ends up giving players a boss fight every half hour or so. Boss fights are usually where I gather the most amount of fun from a JRPGs battle system so the fact that Nocturne has so many was likely a huge contributing factor to its enjoyment for me. Personally I liked the fiend battles (cept Trumpeter lol fuck that guy) but I could see why someone wouldn't.

I really don't see the TDE as having your will stripped from you. Certainly not as the player. I had to WANT to go through the labyrinth in order to finish it. I personally got fed up with the other reasons and the bullshit game and went deeper into its depths. As the player, I agreed with Lucifer by the end - it's time to tear this order down and make something new. Even with the demon ending - it's not that Lucifer is abandoning the Demifiend so much as the Demifiend made choices that showed he lacked a strong will of his own. He had power, but no vision. What could Lucifer do with that? Lucifer doesn't berate the player for making decisions that lead away from the TDE. You only get the TDE if it's what you choose, and he even compliments you if you choose the neutral ending as it shows the will to disobey the heavenly order. He wants you on his side, but there's no punishment for walking other paths. The view expressed in the video would make sense if it was the default path and the easy ending. Truth is, there's no way you get that ending unless you want it, and Lucifer doesn't spend the game berating, browbeating or abusing the Demifiend into doing his will - he just offers reminders that if the Demifiend wants what he offers, he has to delve into the labyrinth. Mankind acting of its own will plays into his agendas one way or another, and he's playing the long game. He doesn't need or want people on his side who aren't committed to his vision. That's how I see the character of Lucifer in this game and the TDE path. I see it as one of the most interesting endings they've ever offered because it flies in the face of what you'd expect from something like this, and it leaves it up to the player's imagination what followed.
I think you're kinda describing buying into Lucifer's plan, I think your explanation is interesting but I am talking about manipulation, it's not gonna be abusing the demifiend, it's stripping him of choice (forcing him to be a demifiend) and appearing offering an alternative every time something new happens in his journey. Also I don't think there's anything wrong about thinking you're being manipulated and it being hard to accomplish. Cults often get people to do things the average person wouldn't think possible, it's because it's progressively extended further and further out of the comfort zone. Lucifer offers you a path because as the developers stated, he's there to test you, thats why he comments on the endings, because he's interested to see what you do regardless of it's bending to his will or doing something else. Lucifer complimenting you on the freedom ending is as Kagatsuchi mentions, because it's what Lucifer would do, as he's done that before. But it's not that he's not punishing you for choosing other paths, as he literally abandons you, his creation, if you don't side with him. In the freedom ending, youre still cursed like you are in the chaos king ending, the only difference is you have to do it without any assistance from Lucifer as you didn't do what he wanted.
I loved SMT3 Nocturne(Via the HD Remaster), and honestly the issues didn’t bother me. I loved the game either way, and I highly enjoyed it, and I’ve already recommended it to some of my friends. It’s personally a 95% out of 100%(A+), and I’ve already began my replay. 👍🏻
I'd say that the lack of safe areas is integral to the atmosphere of this game. I thought it was one of the most striking aspects of the world; the entire vortex world is a dungeon. Plus from a mechanical standpoint movement should always have consequence to justify kagatsuchi. You shouldn't be able to just run in circles unhindered to get to the kagatsuchi level you want.
Okay I was with you until you said Manual skill selection is bad. Bruh, what are you on? Do you like wasting time rerolling random skills so you can get what the game wants you to have for a boss? This game is designed so that when you know what you're doing it's easy because you can manipulate weaknesses, but hinders itself by making you waste time selecting skills. Random skill selection doesnt make the game "harder" unless you think waiting and wasting time is hard.
"and since Meguro is working on 2 other games..." Cool, I missed that info! Do we know what those two games are yet? Persona 6(!) and Project Re Fantasy?
@@Larrue yes it is, Lucifer says the god you worship is dead to the angels, meaning god was killed but that Implies he had help or else he’d have done it before, that and Demi-fiend being in the game makes sense time frame wise, why? Because eighteen is the number of years since god died, which It’s not an accident that true year he refers to is 2003, and… what is Aogami’s race? Proto-fiend, meaning he’s a prototype fiend for the law faction that has lines similar to the tattoos adorning Demi-fiend, AND to continue this explains the netherworld, because it’s actually the vortex world but there’s no longer a Kagutsuchi making it Spherical anymore
Aogami is actually an god made demon 神造魔人, Lucifer tells you he killed the god of this game and absorbed his power, which he did in smtv . They explain in the design commentary that aogamis design and it's not because demifiend. 18 years ago is when the shekinah glory was made it's mentioned because that's when the last humans were born and with wisdom. Since that explains the creation of the false Tokyo it also explains the netherworld which is the real world ruined after the events leading up to and after Lucifer destroys the god of law. Kagatsuchi isn't in this game and is never called the god of law.
I don't see the TDE at all like you portray it. Lucifer gives you all the outs possible and never demands you do this at all. He's perfectly fine with you declining because Lucifer values freedom over all else to the point of being totally ok and even welcoming the complete anarchy his ideology brings with it. To lucifer the idea that demi fiend is his slave is frankly, completely stupid and antithetical to his main motivations in SMT. If he needs to enslave someone to his side in order to fight for freedom he's essentially failed already. Plus, by getting the demon ending or freedom ending he voices his pride in you choosing your own freedom over being spoon fed the hypocritical nonsense that was the reasons, which all have a level of totalitarianism where only these ways of life are allowed and all who disagree are simply purged so the cycle can repeat itself later. The TDE is him simply inviting you to take part in this plan as his general after earning his trust. As in the demon ending you do the exact things he wants from the TDE but you haven't proven you are trust worthy, just power hungry, so he leaves you to the ruined world.
I was thinking about it and yeah altough TDE has more content the idea of the freedom ending and of say Demifiend having to deal with the fact his friends did horrible shit in the vortex world is interesting Like how would he look @ Chiaki the same way when she a few hours ago in his time just did mass murder of human looking creatures 😶
Finishing nocturne for the first time before I touch SMT V. IM going for the true demon ending. I’m also using a magic build. No I am not using pierce. Fuck pierce.

"and since Meguro is working on 2 other games..."
Cool, I missed that info! Do we know what those two games are yet? Persona 6(!) and Project Re Fantasy?
He workin on uhhh amazing tater 2
Anyone know the music used at the 25 minute mark?
It's the unused sound test for nocturne
Lol I love how SMT V confirms TDE and he says it’s not here but it is canon now 😂😂😂
Smtv and nocturne aren't connected
Well then I apologize, I’d thought they were connected
No worries the lore for smtv is very confusing
just letting you know, theres a bit of muffled kinda crackling thing going on with your mic
I was thinking about it and yeah altough TDE has more content the idea of the freedom ending and of say Demifiend having to deal with the fact his friends did horrible shit in the vortex world is interesting
Like how would he look @ Chiaki the same way when she a few hours ago in his time just did mass murder of human looking creatures 😶
If it doesn't say one more god rejected, what does it say?
One more god accepted 🙃
Hark our God in Heaven
One ヒーホー rejected
War broke out in heaven
Did you get Nocturne HD?
sure did :)
💪🏽
raido and dante on the box art huh.....
6:10
yup!
Finishing nocturne for the first time before I touch SMT V. IM going for the true demon ending.
I’m also using a magic build.
No I am not using pierce. Fuck pierce.
23:40
I have to wonder why he showed a clip of rags jewelry the most irrelevant and for the most part useless thing in the game
:)
