This game was very cool because it had an open ended technology tree potential, where you could discover ancient tech way down the list of advancement.. It didn't usually happen, or was too significant.. But I remember a game where very early on, got a few techs that gave superior shields, firepower, and the ability to actually construct the ship.. and just became an evil conquering force to all the primitive civs in the way...
One of my favorite playthroughs that I ever did I ended up getting the late technology that allows you to block a star line..... I strategically cordoned off half the galaxy and then expanded😅
Tons of 4x games have taken this exact formula and built on it, but in my opinion they overcomplicate it and ruin it's simplicity. I just want an HD remake of this game and I would be happy forever.
I still play this to this day. Awesome game. One thing I love about it is that you can name your ships. I always named my colony ships Col 1, Col 2, and so on.
@Frey You pretty much have to, especially when you have like 60 ships. Same with my ships with the planet assault ships, only way I could keep track was to name them Invader 1, Invader 2, and so on.
We used to love this game back in the days, I used to play Capellons with their useless ability, they have even tried to release a remake, but there was no interest about 10-15 years later. If you guys have some nostalgia regarding the 90s we recommend different and our game called Precursors: Armored Angels. It's a little rough like 90s game, but there you may have a chance to feel again the climax we could find in the games from 90s. In the most contemporary games there's no challenge, but there you will find one.
This is up there with Total Annihilation and Privateer.. Privateer had that moment where the guy shoots the pirate because pirates are expensive. And he's on a budget. Total Annihilation had awesome music.
this game was mindblowing back then for my 12 year old self! specially the alien species designs where sooo well done & "exotic", not just humans with wrinkles on their foreheads&noses, but truly alien!
Amazing game. Lot of species to choose from with different specialities that entice you to explore different game strategies. Like one species let you telepathically communicate with others and thus establish diplomatic relations immediately. This allows you to influence other species early and build alliances before they could establish contact with potential competitors. Another one gives you advantage on research so that you can have stronger ships or more prosperous colonies. I live the music. Throughout the decades I every now and then listened to the soundtrack on my iPods.
Beautiful game. Music was (is) amazing and general climate as well. Fantastic gamplay with some micromanagement but nothing too harsh that 80's kid couldnt handle :)
I just wish the AI hadn't sucked so bad. The AI had no idea how to develop it's planets after like turn 500. I always got the point where my entire planet is covered in Meagfacilities and Metroploises and the computer just has a few factories and tries to build crappy ships constantly. The way they use their ships is pretty easy to deal with too.
----- @João Barroso ----- - You can get it legally on Hard-Copy by buying it from "second-hand"-shops, offline or online. Or you can get it illegally from websites dedicated to abandoned software. Why the game hasn't been added to legal services like GOG or Steam yet is very puzzling? Might have something to do with their deal with Apple. With that said... The game definitely has it's flaws, but it has such an abundance of charm and character that it's still a "Must Play"-game. NB!...: For anyone who value their sanity, I would strongly recommend/advice you to disable that awful **DING**-sound in the game. Took me a few minutes to figure out were it was located in the game files in the game directory of the "PC-CD-ROM"-version of the game. After that it took only a few seconds to disable it. Extremely Important to note...: Simply deleting or renaming the file called "Ding.voc" only presents you with a new annoyance when the game can't find the file in question. You have to change the Call-command for "Ding.voc" for it to get disabled without adding to the problem. Funnily enough, making the game look for a file that doesn't exist to begin with works perfectly fine, while it doesn't work as intended when the game is looking for a file that should have been there. Hm... the race who can enforce peace was the best. It was like a cheat. I attacked everyone, then they declared war and then I made peace again... This is actually almost a bug of the game.
Is it only me or there is no winning screen in this game? Otherwise this is the most awsome game! :-) I got some screen telling me I own 2/3 or all the stars and so on so maybe that was their intention when I should just stop and be happy, but I went on to eradicate everyone. There came nothing in the end however and I even occupied literally all the planets. Is there no win screen at all? :-(

Maybe a performance issue. Are you using max cycles? Does your Android DOSBox version support dynamic core? Try those first. After that, try increasing the frame skip.
