... the design of the knife is very good it seems practical, but I have my pocket knife, It doesn't really work to survive in jeans... you should use special clothes! ... and I don't do survival exercises anymore... just diet!
Dang Lilly you have impressed me more by saying you prepared two months in advanced to walk bare foot. Full dedication that paid off. Good for you. I have a few questions - Now you have experienced N&A would you change you items for survival on future trips out into the wilderness. Do you have a more focus on certain area or items that you want with you. One thing I noticed on survival shows is people making temporary shelters then try to build better shelters later on when they are calorie depleted. Does this experience give you more direction on prioritizing what you do when setting up a camp. Example getting as much wood asap. I noticed your partner was very worn out to get more wood towards the end
Just watched it last night and you and Sam both rocked that challenge. I am so glad Sam talked you out of quitting cause you would have regretted that for the rest of your life. Well done Lilly!!!
Thank you for clearing up so many questions, Lilly. I watch that show every week. You did great, and I'm glad you've kept in touch with Sam. He was a gem.
My 93-year-old mother is a fan of the show and really enjoyed your episode, especially after I told her that I had been following you on UA-cam for years. Thanks for answering these questions. I'll pass them along to Mom!
A church I used to attend did a 21 day fast. Some of the members had high blood pressure issues. Others had diabetic problems. Some reported that when you fast, it is almost like your body resets itself and some of them where able to go off some of the medications they were previously taking for those issues. Not recommending this without consulting your doctor, but that is what some where able to achieve with the fasting. They also stated you could not just immediately start going back to eating solid food. They started out by sipping small amounts of chicken soup broth and slowly added solid foods back in over a period of days or weeks.
You did a fantastic job on the show. You were able to endure the night time temperatures when you cannot tolerate cold. I admire your personal strength and not quitting.
I never thought the show was any kind of fake. I always believed that you wouldn't have anything to do with fake. And that's why your episode was the first and only one I've seen. Thanks for verifying! You and your survival partner were great on the show!
@Winston Smith also, there are a few AMA posts floating around with former contestants acknowledging the more "creative liberty" aspects of the show. Also, I've read (can't confirm, but would have been a good question) that the contestants are paid. And fair enough...they earned it, but it seeems that the show doesn't discuss that portion.
Guys I get you've read this and that article and blogpost or whatever but I'd recommend taking into account more someone who actually went onto the show lol

Thankyou Lily for your honest assessment of the show. You hear so many things and it's so good to get the truth as this is my favorite show. Thanks for allbof the good things you do!
I think you made a really great point about setting priorities when you were talking about making shoe wear. In a survival situation priorities are everything and if you set the wrong priority it could cost you your life. Knowing what the real priority is is how you survive. Thank you 👍
You should be very proud! So glad the two of you worked out so well together. Also very very happy that you got your rabit! All that practice paid off!

Thanks for the wonderful background insights and your thoughtful answers to the questions. I have a ton of respect for you doing the challenge. My thyroid is messed up as well and I get cold so easy. Lilly, I understand why you wouldn't do another challenge. Our health is important. BUT WOW, I was amazed how you and Sam got through this. I never watched the show before because I thought it was stupid. I'm glad I watched you and Sam. I thought you complemented each other. Honestly, Sam was so lucky to get you as a partner, and he recognized you right off the bat from youtube. I know I couldn't do this challenge. My hats off to you. Way to go
I thought it was a stupid idea for a show too. Watched Lilly's episode and was totally convinced this was a real challenge. I am now on season 6 of watching these poor people haha.

There was never any doubt in my mind tat you would complete the Naked and Afraid challenge. After watching your UA-cam channel for the last few years, you've more than proven your knowledge and skills are sufficient pretty much any challenge that comes your way. I don't blame you for not wanting to repeat the experience, though. Why take any risk that you don't need to take? As always, I look forward to more of your wilderness survival and prepping videos. Take care.

I actually have never seen the show because I thought some of it was fake. I am you went through the various questions. You really explained everything. I can completely understand why you wouldn't be able to participate if certain things didn't. Appreciate this video and your answers. Just started watching your videos and subscribed.
I hadn't watched Naked and Afraid for years, but because you were on it I watched it. You did an awesome job and congrats for completing it. You will be able to look back on your life and have zero regrets. Your accomplishments are noted.
I don't think I ever seen a better couple on Naked and Afraid like Lilly and Sam. If there has been there wasn't many with such amazing chemistry. The shows choice to feature their challenge in America. Brilliant cheers Lilly❤
I just finished watching you on Naked and Afraid! It was the best episode I’ve ever seen - informative and inspirational to see two survivalists (with outstanding personalities and backgrounds) thriving in those conditions. Keep up the great work!
Lilly, those first three days, you were suffering from what is known as Keto flu. It is expected in many bodies when experiencing such a drastic change in diet. Thankful you made it through entire challenge. You are an inspiration.
You're a brave and a talented young lady, please keep up the good content you've been putting out and stay safe out there, also stay vigilant young lady!
I have two questions concerning the crew. 1) How did the film crew avoid influencing your actions and choices? 2) The film crew, I assume, was adequately clothed, fed, and hydrated all 21 days. How did this affect your morale?
I really appreciate your candid answers to your experiences on N&A.It was a fascinating episode, one of the best really, and your survival skills were demonstrated perfectly! I'm glad that you will not do another episode as your health is the most important object. We can all continue to enjoy your wonderful YT channel! Thank you so much Lilly! 😀😀💖💖
Thank you Lilly for the insight from an European cultural point of view. Being myself a Western neighbor of yours with Alpine roots but living for quite some time now in the West of the US, it was great to not have to read between the lines. I also can very much follow and support your reasoning why not go right away into another such challenge. If there would be a way of exchanging some of my weight with some some of your health burden to balance out each other's challenges, we could have a deal... ;-) -I enjoyed this clip very much. Keep doing what you do, and" All the best in your endeavors and for your health.
I remember one of your first videos of you running in the wood. Huge trees and mountains. You almost became naked in that video. Then you get in the cold water. EPIC.... You were and still are great. Now I have to find that early video again. Please keep you channel going.
I spent a summer once jogging every day barefoot on a gravel road. After two months of this, my feet were like shoe leather. Your feet can definitely acclimatize to a challenge like this.
Yelp. Kids dont go barefoot anymore? Personally if i were her and had her life id be barefoot all the time. Ive walked through the forest, creeks, etc for most of my life barefoot.
N&A is so stupid, they should just rename it Naked and Blurred, the stupid blur is annoying why don't they just give you some underwear and brass? The blur is stupid and annoying they might as well just give you underwear so they don't need to burr the dang screen that entire time. I don't get the stupid naked part, it's just about depravity for me, yuck.
I never watched the show, I never could understand why anyone would want to run around naked in the woods or in a desert being cold or hot…It just wasn’t entertainment to me. There are the homeless that suffer just as much everyday for years, so why not make a show where you are homeless and afraid for several months to bring awareness to their plight?
When people are asking whether it's fake or real they aren't interested in whether or not you receive direction, they are interested in whether or not for example you receive any form of basic sustenance off-camera. I mean, if it's medically necessitated, saline IVs should be standard practice, which would immediately disqualify the challenge for many people as being "real".
First time watching naked and afraid, i think you two absolutely rocked it. I was surprised at how thin you are, to take on that challenge. Thank you for your answers in this video. As a side note, an ex-partner of mine had thyriod problems that she cured using homeopathy, don't know if your willing to look at that, but it worked for her very well. Thank you for your videos, i always enjoy watching them when i can't get out doing myself. Keep uploading as long as you can, please.
I respect what you do and a fan. Have you ever thought of going on alone. US ,Australia, Switzerland and a 4th country. I think you would do very well.
There was a "Naked & Afraid" filmed in the Atchafalaya River Basin in South Louisiana, USA. I live 15 minutes from there. My family had a camp there. There's Absolutely NO way in hell I would go nekkid there during the summer for one 24 hour day. You don't have to worry about the alligators, water moccasins, briars, bobcats, black bears, etc eating you alive or killing you from infection because the mosquitos, horse & deer flies, etc. would have sucked all the blood out of you before that 🤨. Lilly, you definitely have my respect. One thing I definitely learned from my experience in life and the USMC infantry is that surviving tough times is more mental than physical.
I just caught your episode. Look like you two did ok. I hear what you're saying about the shoes but I think that would have been one of my priorities being there were alot of cacti out there. Nice job!
That was a huge challenge to do with a thyroid condition. I did not know you had that condition, so I could not imagine how you could have had such a large weight loss in three weeks!
I loved Lilly's episode. She was so equipped to survive and last and did a great job and the chemistry and teamwork was great! I turn off the episodes when they fight or don't work together.
Loved watching your challenge Lily. You and Sam were a great pair. I'm happy for you that you didn't tap, and I have to say that Sam was a really supportive partner for you. Well done!
My biggest complaint is that the people are not really naked, they always have a large bag that conceals their body. The other pet peeve is all the scenes of dangerous animals that are not really there, but just to give the impression that the challenge is more dangerous than it really is.
We loved the show (V&A). You were great, a real life changing event. I agree you are much lovelier and feminine at your normal weight. I was one who recommended you to N&A and was blown away by your show. I had never seen the program before, and have watched only your show (but several times). I hope you never try again because of your health conditions. (Im a biologist and geneticist) so I was very interested in the weight loss and any body changes you went through. I have three daughters your age and cant imagine them having the strength (both mental and physical) to do anything like this. They are having babies, so they have their 'hill to climb'. Congrats Lilly!
I became a fan Lilly about a year ago. I spent almost 2 years out in the southern Rocky Mountains from 2000 to 2002 relying on everything I learned growing up and then just figuring things out as I went along. I found a community of people who had moved out here to "prepare" for whatever is coming down the pike. I was kind of at the extreme edge of the community because I wasn't living in a normal home. I was in a tent for a few months, then in a tipi for several more months. I was only about 25 miles away from civilization but I got to where I dreaded going in to town for whatever reason, once a month was too much. You were the 3rd person I found on UA-cam who was making "survival/bushcraft" content. Heck I hadn't ever heard of the term Bushcraft until just over a year ago. Watching you and a few others has helped me realize that I actually do know survival, something I always strived for since I was a little kid. Due to health issues I can no longer spend time in the woods like I used to. But through you and the few others I follow, I feel like I'm right back out there living at one with nature like we were intended to. So you keep making content and I'll keep enjoying it and soaking it up.
If shtf happens Lilly keep in mind all the lessons you learned about your health. if you get too far behind the food/energy expenditure curve its going to be tough to make a comeback.
As much as I would like to see you in other N&A challenges, you are to be complimented on having the all too uncommon, common sense to know and respect your medical limits.
on the shoes, I can attest- by the end of every summer since childhood, my feet are like leather. you only need them for particularly vicious stickers, really hot rocks, or if it's really cold out. Part of it is the feet-toughness, part is knowing How to walk barefoot and what to pay attention to. You adapt very fast.
I appreciate your honesty about being nervous the first day. We can practice all we want but until the day we are forced to perform or suffer we don’t know what obstacles are own brain will put in our way 👍👍 Second Naked and afraid has provided me with a new appreciation for my first layer of shelter (my clothing choices) I now consider my clothes I choose each day as part of my EDC. I always ask myself is this what you want to be wearing if you had to sleep next to a tree tonight 😁 it’s not a perfect process but a question I ask nonetheless.
My cousin always wanted to reach 100 pounds. It wasn't until she was in her 30s that she discovered power lifting. She bulked up to 115 and is very happy with herself. I have a question. Would you like to go back and visit New Mexico as a regular camper with tents, tools, warm clothes, food, and accessories?
Hi Lilly been following you for years, built a little camp from your tutorial videos, one of my favourite programmes was always naked n afraid so I couldn't believe when you turned up on it.. congratulations for surviving especially with your coldness thing, ye were too far apart, body heats the best.. I would've been wrapped around you to keep you warmer..❤
Wow, you've nailed it for me about so many questions! Most of all, I have been wondering so much about how the contestants and crew interact. I imagine from my couch that the crew has 'it easy' with food, all the water they can drink and even electronics to keep in touch with loved ones and their entertainment at night when it is just your cameras. I wondered how knowing that psychologically impacts the contestants being filmed bc I forget about the crew for the most part during my viewing experience only to think about it much later. I will now share your respect. I remember the snake on day 1 and now your bravery in that moment is even more amazing, knowing you are terrified of them to begin with. Also, I apologize for my earlier post about my fantasy about you and Sam. Of course, we don't get all the info at home. Had no idea that you were each happily bonded to others at all. Again, applause 👏 . Just shows more maturity on your parts for rising to the ultimate challenge of surviving, making relationship building such a valuable tool equal to or better than choice of equipment. I can't wait to get into all your videos to be just your true fan. Much Grace to you ❤
I love seen both of you, Sam and Lily. Amazing team and beautiful chemistry! 🥰 my daughter and I were crying on how nice Sam was to you. Both of you complimented each other. ❤ #teamsilly
Love that Lily has become a survival expert through her own research and developing her skills by trial and error. Definitely someone worth listening to on thos subject. Respect.
I have a friend who was on a similar show and, while it wasn't exactly scripted, they made them manufacture drama and pretend to argue - which is stupid, nothing makes me want to turn a show off more.
It would be cool to see you do another show but maybe it wouldn't have to be so "extreme". It could still show off your skills and allow you to have clothes, an axe, a blanket, etc.
I have always enjoyed N&A but even more now after your comments. Please take care of yourself you are the only channel I am subscribed to and don't know what I would watch without your channel. You have shared so much wonderful and helpful information. Thank you!
I'm curious about your friendship with Sam and have you stayed in contact? Enduring such a thing had to build a everlasting bond I would think. A friendship that you know that you've always made it through such a tough experience together. Thank you You did a great job 👍
I would love to see you in a 40 day legends scenario with people like Matt Wright, Amber (Hargrove) Kohler, and Steven Hall, etc. Your skill set teamed with people like that would be awesome to watch. I think you’d thrive, and not just survive in a team setting.
Thank you for the in depth conversation. Much respect and it was enjoyable to watch you. I loved seeing you on the show. And seeing your skill sets and awesome personality.
I just watched Naked & Afraid. The episode that you and Sam are in. I think that you and Sam are the best team ever on Naked & Afraid ! Sam was so attentive to you, always making sure that you are ok. And when you were going to tap out and Sam convinced you to stay. He said that you are not a burden. There was so much love there. You two are the best!!!
Great video. I read somewhere that the N&A crew provides security to make sure that large predators don't attack the survivalists. Was this true for your episode?
ANOTHER QUESTION: in really dangerous areas like Africa, does the show have armed guards to prevent contestants from being attacked by lions and other predators ?

The point of being naked is because it's a Primitive survival show. U have to earn clothing with hides & work up from there.
Not scripted, but fake to the extent that no participant is ever in real danger.

"Maybe with a bit more clothing on". Thanks, Lilly. I needed that, lol
You rock young lady! As you get older you will appreciate your decision to put your health first.
We found bear tracks near our camp. It is America. Bears are everywhere.
Well Lilly, I have watched your channel since Lone Wolverine days, and I want to congratulate you on your "graduation"! You did it.
If you have health problems check out Dr. Berg in UA-cam. He made many videos about different health problems and helped me a lot
@@SurvivalLilly Yes Dr. Berg has helped many of us.
Keep going Lilly!!!😊
It was very assume to see you Lilly on Naked and Afraid. Well done 💪
We can practice all we want but until the day we are forced to perform or suffer we don’t know what obstacles are own brain will put in our way 👍👍
Second Naked and afraid has provided me with a new appreciation for my first layer of shelter (my clothing choices) I now consider my clothes I choose each day as part of my EDC.
I think the naked makes it less realistic to me. If your car breaks down in the middle of noplace, you would be fully clothed for the weather.
You rock Lilly. Strong contestant on the show. Well done!
👏👏👏👏 Did they give you a personal copy of your entire experience. I hope so because that's a pretty AMAZING ACCOMPLISHMENT‼️
I believe that being without your guard dog would be another stress factor!
I am really proud of you for all you accomplished in the challenge. You are so awesome. I enjoy all your videos.
This was totally true , they never bull shitted anyone ,, this was So true and real !!
Thank you for the in depth conversation. Much respect and it was enjoyable to watch you. I loved seeing you on the show. And seeing your skill sets and awesome personality.
My wife always suggests that on the penultimate day, the contestants miraculously get something to eat. A fish, and trap or something from hunting
not everything can be shown in one episode. so sometimes they just show the most relevant kill
I wish they would do a season of naked old and afraid !!! I would love to try !! Lol
Da bleib ich gerne dran ;) Danke für die Infos und Einblicke! Alles Gute Lilly
I am a long time fan of naked and afraid. I am here because you and Sam s episode is my favorite episode! Yall were great. ❤
Are you made to stay within a certain area? Like if food/water is very limited, are you allowed to move elsewhere to better grounds
You should do a video of just Amy. She is a beautiful dog. I'm glad your health is getting better.
ANOTHER QUESTION: in really dangerous areas like Africa, does the show have armed guards to prevent contestants from being attacked by lions and other predators ?
Something like that, yes. More like crew highly trained on weapons such as rifles.
your awesome Lilly, I think your honest responses says alot about the person you are, very good.
