Great video! Loving the new update. That kick model is all I need....
Friendly reminder to use shift on those long scrolls through the values. Slower scroll holding shift will give a more noticeable audio change in effect through the range. Also, holding bd-rc button and turning reverb or delay knob adjusts the send level.

Pro tip to permanently and effectively remove smells from used gear: rent an ozone machine. Set your gear in a car or in a room that you can seal off. Run the ozone machine for at least 24 hours. It breaks down any organic material left on it and in it (cigarette smoke, pet smells, etc). These are used in the real estate and property management industry to great effect (works wonders for stinky carpets and food odors). Just keep in mind that ozone can’t be breathed - it removes all oxygen from the area (hence doing it in a locked car overnight or sealing off a small room in your house).

Yeah, I bought one on Amazon for like 60 bucks and I use it all the time in my house, car, basement, etc…. It’s indispensable to me.
The TR8s was my first drum machine such an amazing machine. I also got it second hand but mine smells like fresh electronics..

Nice vid thanks ! +1 on holding the shift button plus parameter adjustment dial so it jumps in steps of 10 for parameters or hops through categories - works for all menus I think

These drum machines would be just perfect if they had a slightly more useful screen. I have an mc-101 and it's just a drag using that menu.

Even just an MC 707 type screen would make a world of difference

That's why I prefer the fantastic screen on my Roland TR-808 🤪 Also its 2849537 piano presets are awesome! Sometimes I wish there were 7 more, but hey... life is hard sometimes. It's all about having a gazillion of features in order to "create" the same generic beats over and over again. Quantity over quality, too. Important! And them trolling the comment section, of course.

Thanks for your videos. I think you explained this in one of your videos (or maybe it was someone else) and i've been going back and watching them but I can't find it: How do you InstaPlay the alternate sound on the instruments which have two sounds? uhhhhg.I can't find it in the manual either.
I think if you shift and scroll on the 1/2 options...is that it? I can't remember exactly but it's something like that.

Good question about the ACB…I’m pretty sure it is
The FM drums are digital FM (operators that are carriers and modulators) no need to simulate Analog with ACB.
I think you have both devices and make useful videos about them so maybe you can also answer my question because you might have thought about this aswell. :D so i was thinking about if it is possible to export kits patterns and motion data to the sd card from the tr6s from an idea you had when you jammed out in the park and put the sd card it in the tr8s at home and import the 6 tracks kit and motion to add 5 more tracks into that idea maybe with samples you then can get from your computer or something. Thx :)
To my knowledge this isn’t possible! Because once you format a card to a unit you have to erase everything before reformatting

Another tip for removing smell: put some coffee powder (3-4 spoonful)in a teabag and then wrap the tr8s with it into a newspaper and ontop of that cling film wrapping, leave it in it for 48hrs to 72 hrs and the smell should be gone.. :)

I got a question... say I wanted to do a generative synth with the probability... can you tie probability to pitch as well as note occurance? Or should you jyst use the an LFO for pitch... and what would be a good depth to get it a little melodic with it?
Also, I think shift, ctrl (below kit) will bring up a mixer window that you can show all the sends...

Damn I slept on Roland updates. I just got my sp404mk2 this week (first time ever owning an sp) So can you use the tr8s to trigger the sp404mk2? Like in a live set up? My tr8s is my master. It triggers my minilogue and monologue as well as my td3. Can I add the sp to the chain to be triggerd by the tr8s?
I’m pretty sure you can- it’s not an set up that I’ve experimented with yet

@@LiamKillen figured it out. You need a midi type A to trs cable. I purchased the BOSS cable. Midi type B doesn't work.

Try putting it in a plastic bin with an open box of baking soda and the lid on. Shake the soda every day. Put a little fan in there to circulate, maybe....

love the new features but still no sidechain like the T-8 :( now i think it will never come. this really limits my ability to use these devices, 6s in particular since no work around.

Send the intruments that you want sidechained to the external in via indv outputs?
@@MrDonc78 Like I said “the 6S in particular since no workaround”, implicitly recognizing the 8’s workaround you speak of. But that solution requires dedicating the aux outputs and aux inputs for no other purpose than that chore, so you can’t be creative with them, nor use the 8 as a mixer for other gear. It also runs it through the DAC’s, degrading audio. It also requires 2 premium audio cables and they need to be on hand. The 6S, as noted above, has no such workaround other than through USB, which doesn’t make much sense for real world use.

Watching you adjust your parameters just cements how dumb it is that Roland doesn't allow the big tempo knob to also adjust parameter values. They should have it as a utility option to turn on, or just have it set to change the parameters as normal function and then "shift" turn to adjust the tempo. Made even worse by the fact that I have my TR8s to receive midi clock, so the best knob of the whole machine literally serves no function, I can turn it all day and it will do absolutely nothing.
But hey, at least now I have some whacky new reverbs I will never ever use to go along with the best knob of the machine I will never use.
