If you want an Cool show to make an reaction to is the Dark Angel TV show that's directed by James Cameron and Stars Jessica Alba and a few other familiar faces.
Knowing how BSG loves mirroring real world situations - the idea of "resistance fighters" (terrorists depending on where you stand) hiding weapons in churches, temples, holy places really strikes close to home. These are the issues that real soldiers face all the time where there are no right answers. We instinctively tend to side with the humans in BSG but one of the things I truly appreciate is that neither sides hands are clean. They both do awful things in the name of "necessity."
Yep. With a lot of really extreme context to go along with. The Cylons murdered over 20 billion people what's 10 more? And Dora said they all feel sick about it. Get the F outta here lol And humanity is in a fight for survival. This is not just any war. Everything is at stske, almost every battle is either win or lose everything especially now they they are on the ground with their pants down. And imagine how fucked up they feel, the Cylons just rolled in and instead of killing them they rule over them and skiing them slowly at their pleasure. I love this part of the show, everything is so complex and have so many layers to explore. Wish I could watch it again for the first time with my adult head this time.
Now I understand season 3 better. They never really explained he was a collaborator. They did but they didn't. I can't say more without spoilers. Like, Resistance was kind of an addendum it feels like.
I know I harp on about this, it's just so incredibly relevant. ALL of BSG is in discussion with 'the war on terror'. The 'more advanced' [in their eyes] Cylons are occupying a territory which contains people who don't want to have their religion wiped out, their way of life altered to meet a different set of acceptable behaviour, and most of whom just want to be left the frak alone. The Cylons, however mistakenly, are working on the theory that their way is 'better', and if the humans would just do what was sensible, it would all be 'fine'. - The history of the west attempting to do this in the middle east is blood soaked and at the time, US forces were facing unprecedented levels of rebellion in Iraq. Suicide bombings. Using innocents as human shields. Weapons stores in hospitals, schools. Misinformation. Informants. Intelligence uncertainty. BSG pointed out that as *people* we're no better. The webisodes add a lot of context to S3, so Joe, you have nothing to worry about. Here in NZ, I had no idea they even existed until years later and can assure you that without them, the first few episodes are confusing. I mean, who the hell was this ginger guy? Duck? What kind of call sign is Duck? Who the hell was Nora? Did I know a Nora? (On rewatches, we had been introduced before - but they weren't in any way memorable) Why was Jammer suddenly so important? These mini episodes make moving into S3 much easier. Looking forward to watching it with you all.
Kudos to this explanation. I do have to add, however, not that BSG was referring to it, but the human race has been this way from its beginning. The West just continued what Europe (or Rome, or any other more advanced culture) started when they found the New World (or any other new land with a more "primitive" population) and decided to "civilize" whatever cultures they discovered. I have a feeling what I just said was messy, but I hope you understand what I mean.
Just remember this all was on network TV during the occupation of Iraq, where you had all these sorts of themes being played out. Iraqi's being recruited to the Police, being viewed as traitors by the Iraqi resistance etc. Weapons being hidden in mosques etc. Incredibly brave TV at the time.
The laws of war are a thing to prevent both sides from becoming complete savages. The protected target list, including things like houses of worship, schools and critical civilian infrastructure Is is not absolute precisely because of these problems. Protected targets legally lose their protection if you use them as base of operation, logistical storage, or conduct military operations and attacks from them... doing any of those is a war crime. Using any of those precisely because they are protected targets in the hope of inciting an attack upon them is it's own additional war crime. You do not get to claim victim status when that blows up in your face..... Collateral damage or not. Human shield exists because collateral damage is an intent and expected outcome. It is a extremely difficult decision to Conduct operations against a formally protected target that has lost its status. You are damned if you do and damned if you don't but it will only get worse if you allow it to continue and reward bad behavior.
Not sure why you keep referring to Tyrol as a supporting character. He's already had storylines based around him in the episodes you've seen. He gets a lot of screen time, and appears in most episodes. To put that in perspective, not one cast member is in every episode. Anyway, I enjoyed your reaction as always. I watched this series three times, and I've watched others react to it. You are the only ones I have seen who reacted to the webisodes. I only watched those once myself, and had actually forgotten about them, so this was a nice refresher.
Not sure which one of us did, but I agree with you. Especially since his stories are up front with boomer, with Pegasus, and with leading the union! Glad you enjoyed, extra glad we could refresh some people on this as UA-cam was okay with us posting the full reference footage
In my opinion the Cylons never searched the churches to give the resistance a false sense of a safe space and just waited for them to use them as a weapon`s depot or base of operation. Why search for them (resistance/weapons) in separate location when you can just get both at one in place? The Cylons probably meant to kill all of the people in the church in an attempt to entice the resistance to make a move and therefore giving the Cylons a chance to identify them once and for all! (My opinion)
🔔 TRC: FYI For later there's this other BSG webinar stuff on UA-cam -> "What was Gaeta's secret? It's only explained in a webisode, Gaeta [spoiler deleted]" ➡ Battlestar Galactica: The Face Of The Enemy (Episodes 1-9) 🔔 ALSO: FYI The version of the video that you watched is missing the opening segment that another such video here on UA-cam has, namely Leoben and Starbuck interacting (which THEN goes to the opening segment as seen here).
@@732ReviewCrew🔔 You're very welcome! FYI Your reply happened just as I was editing my comment at the same time. (I've added the name of the relevant webisode series.)
First, nice haircut Mikey and Joe with no baseball cap and Mike, that color of blue looks great on you! Looking good gentlemen!☺️ Second, so glad you watched these webisodes. When they originally 'aired' online I hadn't seen them before season three. I watched them several years later and thankful I did...they filled in some gaps for me. Third, Chief Tyrol is by no means a side character!🤭 Thanks guys, as always I appreciate your BSG reviews ☺️💚
This is completely unedited with reference footage! Ty youtube for cooperating :D

Looks like Mikey got a hair cut and weird seeing Joe not wearing a hat.
I agree Mikey's haircut looks nice but I think Joe looks good w/out the cap.☺️

Friday! 😌
FYI, there is a second set of Webisodes set during the 4th season
We will check that out when appropriate! Thank you

You will find out later in season 3, ( you said it inadvertently) who is feeding the cylons information, and the reason why.

Which makes sense and it seems like that it was Tighes plan to potentially rile up the civilian population who was content

Mikey, did you forget that we already have a pilot called Hotdog?

Definitely adds some clarity to what's going on and it gives us a little story about duck
