Finally a great episode with awesome fight scenes!! Now I don't even feel bad that we didn't get the entire fight last episode. 😮 I don't care about Yord's death, but Jecki's one is sad, I liked her character! 😢A bit of a mix of Anakin and Ahsoka. Triple stab... evil. No idea why she was so much stronger than the other canon fodder Jedi (her being a Padawan and the others being probably knights?) but it for sure was cool and entertaining! 🤷‍♂ We all saw Qimir being the bad guy, very expected, but the reveal was nice. His cortosis(?) plating is damn cool and he fights really badass and seems very powerful! Now I am actually looking forward to see more of him! Also the twins having swapped places is interesting. Great reaction and discussion! 😊

I so hope the team will be complete for the finale two episodes. You all need to react the this spectacle together.

Ok, just an update (looking back) -- early on you got comments about this show working both on what you saw (humans vs Cylons, god vs gods, religions vs atheism) and parallel to that the show also worked on a Meta level -- as we had / have "Head 6" and the Opera House, that manifested itself as both ruins and fully built on Kobol , home of the gods . D'Ana , either through hanging out a bit too much President Gaius and Caprica 6 or through a combination of hanging out with those two + her own observation of being a "chosen one" ("god loves me !" was her final statement before getting killed by Caprica 6 back on Caprica, where Caprica 6 and Sharon saved Xander from D'Ana) -- anyway ... -- D'Ana is starting to access the Opera House ... , but not through "normal means" (she keeps killing herself) , and through her moments of resurrection had started getting glimpses that she cannot interpret (perhaps because they were not meant for her) .

I'm with Joe, the timeline doesn't add up fully IMO. They haven't given us a firm timeline on the infiltration but given how long some sleepers and undercover agents seem to have been infiltrating, they were already planning it. Perhaps crossing the line helped to remove any last remaining hesitance from some Cylons but they already had a war plan as far as I'm concerned.

I don't have a lot of non-movie & non-show canon knowledge, but my prediction is that this is another story about the Jedi's careless approach to countering the Sith threat over time. They'd prefer to cover up and deny the existence of the Sith than deal with them openly and inform the Republic of the danger. If people knew how many ex-Jedi go dark & turn Sith, the Jedi would lose their political clout and power. I'm assuming that the incident on Mae's & Osha's home planet was another cover up in that same vane. Maybe Torbin lost himself to the dark side temporarily after being possessed and killed everyone.

This show depends on its audience having a 15 min attention span. Mae was going to turn herself in, but as soon as a Jedi tries to arrest her, she’s fighting for her life. Mae tells Osha that the Jedi have poisoned her mind as if we didn’t all hear Mae say “I can kill you” and try to burn Osha alive when they were kids. There’s no internal consistency and it’s exhausting.

Congrats for having fun with a fun (and shockingly dark at times!) episode and with some key (and cute) plot points with Cordelia and one that played nice homage to another classic monster. Also played up on the East German swimming scandals, and that crazy Xfiles-like speech LOL, etc.

For a Cthulhu Mythos fish monster movie, I think Dagon will serve. It is a bit hokey but I enjoyed it. "Paul Marsh (Ezra Godden) is yachting on the Spanish coast with three companions when a freak storm causes their boat to founder on the rocks. Paul goes to a nearby village to get assistance, as two of his friends have been trapped in the boat's wreckage. He notices that the locals seem odd, and their behavior grows increasingly strange. When Paul begins seeing a mermaid (Macarena Gómez) who has appeared in his nightmares, he realizes that the fearful world of his dreams is now a reality."

So...that happened. Rub some dirt in it and walk it off. Still, Buffy slamming face, Interrogator Willow, Speedo Xander and Cordy's declaration of fishy love salvaged it from being a total loss.

Yeah, this episode is one of the weaker one's. After this we only have one 'below-standard' episode left in the whole series.

A deeper dive (ha ha) into this episode reveals a lot of themes related to western cultural values.

Sadly Joe missed the previous episode. Most fans would consider that a good thing with this episode. Four moments in this series are more than cringe and just horrible by today's standard and by the standad of back then: 1. Cameron tries to assualt Buffy in his car. 2. When Buffy complains about it to Xander, Willow and Giles, they brush this moment off and look at her like they are saying, _What's the big deal Buffy? Couldn't you handle yourself?_ Which definitely isn't the point. 3. The entire team of fish monsters try something even worse than human Cameron alone attempted with the coach suggesting to Buffy they have needs. 4. Buffy suggests that with coach trapped where she was and her not there that "they must really love their coach" insinuating the same thing the coach insinuated to Buffy. None of those moments even include the little moments tying to the storylines like the nurse scene after Buffy is nearly assualted, Buffy acknowledging directly what the coach means by number three, or Xander loving when "guys mess with" her" despite and/or inspite looking at her with the others like he was saying, _What's the big deal Buffy? Couldn't you handle yourself?_ To this day, I don't know if Buffy, Willow, and Cordelia cringe after Xander jumps in the pool because it was terrible, because they had just been talking about Jonathan peeing in the pool, or both. Best moment in the episode, for me, is Cordelia advancing her relationship with Xander with speaking lines to a fish monster. I think it would have been more interesting if the writers did more a steroid use leads to anger monster of some kind story. That would have been less corny than fish monsters as a result of the soviet union research. I don't think I ever put a timetable together of when the Soviet Union dissolved, though. That means on six in-universe years (and the same amount of years real life) before the episode. Shows the episode in a little less corny of a light, but not by much.

Really enjoyed your reaction and Mike's fish rant (done with such relish) to this lesser Buffy episode. Many think this is the worst Buffy episode but for me that honor probably goes to Bad Eggs. There is one is season 4 that many disfavor but I actually like that one. In this one, there is still a lot that makes me laugh from Willow grilling Jonathan to Cordelia affection for fishman Xander to Russian DNA experiments. And I do like a morale of the episode being "team spirit" can lead to unearned privilege with collective winning prized over individual safety. Some of the guest stars in this one went on to roles of more prominence. Someone pointed out that Wentworth Miller went on to star in Prison Break. The actress who plays the nurse, Conchata Ferrell, went on to play supporting characters in Two and a Half Men and LA Law earning 3 Emmy nominations.

this is why schools shouldnt be allowed to have sports teams, while i kow this is a show, what the admin did to the team winning is wrong. if they failed they failed leave them behind let the smart students excel and let the dim ones repeat till they get it lol this is why we have so many stupid people in society today, cause we allowed this corruption to happen and we all know it happens...
