If you like Eliza Dushku as Faith, you should watch Dollhouse (also by Joss Whedon) where she really gets to show her acting chops. Great show!

Buffy’s attitude towards Faith is totally justified but I don’t think the way she treats Angel in this episode is justified.

I like how Mike brought up how Faith reminded him of Jinx, because back then I made the connection of how Arcane S1 was so similar to the Buffy S3 arc of the 2 girls w/ Giles & the Mayor.

You're right, Faith could break out of prison whenever she wants. Her commitment to her redemption is shown by the fact she doesn't try. As to the Watcher's council, it's not that they couldn't afford to fly Wesley back, or that their special ops team had to fly coach. I'm sure the council has a lot of money, and I doubt Quentin Travers ever flies coach. Withholding money is just another method of control for them.

Faith tried to seduce and turn Angel. Faith wore Buffy's body and violated Buffy's boyfriend . In Buffy's mind, Faith always tries to experience and ruin everything she has. Last Buffy saw her, she was sadistically tormenting her life. She now walks in on her being gently embraced in Angel's arms (which Buffy can no longer have)--can't blame a girl for being shocked and bitter for a couple beats!

They didn't say the leaders of the watcher's council were alchemists, they said that the council had alchemists they worked for them

I understand Buffy's anger but calling Angel a murderer like Faith was a really blow, that made me even more mad than the punch

Can you ever have imagined liking Wesley this much or expecting this much growth on his part, based on how we knew him on Buffy the Vampire Slayer? I could never have predicted that. If you had told me that while I was watching season 3 of Buffy, I would have said "No way." But here I am, just loving Wesley on Angel's show. It's remarkable how much he's changed from his first days on Buffy, and I really like that transformation.

Howard Gordon, Tim Minear, and David Greenwalt had all written episodes of The X-Files. When Buffy and Angel were arguing at the top of the stairs, someone was making noise below, and Sarah started to yell at them to keep it quiet. After a few seconds, she realized this wasn't her crew she tried to play it off as a joke. Af the wrap party, SMG wasn't there, but when thry played the gag reel, any tine she appeared, the crew went silent. They didn't like being yelled at. Buffy saying she had a boyfriend, that wasn't her being honest as much as her getting revenge and twisting the knife. Joss once said one of his favorite things was having a character say to Buffy, "It's not about you."

Another great episode. They used crossovers very well the first season to try and pull some of the Buffy fans over The only thing that bothered me is the way Buffy spoke. It's like you can feel the Angel writers struggling to put words in her mouth. On Buffy, the writers had years to know Buffy and write things she would say and it shows here. Not bad by any means, just slightly off

I waited years for Faiths redemption. totally worth it

Another show y'all might like is _Dollhouse_ (another Whedon project with Eliza Dushku as the lead). But I would try not to look up too much about before you watch it.

Big mistake to watch Fringe before watching The X-Files. It's the mother of all Mystery shows!

Wesley is becoming the Hawkeye of the team. His aim is amazing.

I love that Faith is getting the help she couldn't in Sunnydale. Buffy's arrival kind of proves that. She gets closure on the roof by telling Buffy things Buffy was ignoring from the moment Faith arrived in Sunnydale, but I don't believe closure could have happened in Sunnydale with Buffy and the Scoobies around even as early as _Faith, Hope and Trick._ Even on the roof in this episode, Buffy attempts to cut off what she doesn't wish to hear from Faith as Faith is being genuine. Good reason or not, it's too early in the forgivness process for Buffy to be there and do anything helpful. Buffy admits vengeance was the goal, so trying to tell Angel there were other reasons doesn't make sense. In _I Will Remember You,_ Buffy made the rule of her and Angel staying away from each other. When she realizes she cannot win over Angel's arguments in their last scene she throws Riley in his face. Oddly, that means it's a good thing Faith slipped up and told Angel about them earlier, otherwise Buffy's low blow to Angel could have hit Angel harder. Buffy, in this episode is the equivalent to the Scoobies in _Dead Man's Party._ The points Buffy brings up don't matter because it's not Sunnydale and she entered Angel's territory (LA) against her rules for vengeance, not because Angel was in trouble. Where as Angel is trying to help Faith. Buffy's arrival nearly put that in jeopardy. On top of all of that, Buffy's appearance in LA ultimately showed why Bangel couldn't work as a couple.

Glad it’s back up. This episode is…simply fantastic. We’re on the crazy train now!

My main problem with Buffy here is that she didn't give Angel a heads up. Coming in hot like that pretending to care about his safety when you didn't even spare a phone call is BS.

You should know by now that most bad guys attend the same school as Storm Troopers which explains their complete lack of accuracy.

The episode 18/19 arc is just fantastic.

Buffy says she came not for vengeance toward Faith but because she was worried for Angel. Has she never heard of telephones? If it was really about Angel’s safety she should have called to warn him a.s.a.p. It was never about his safety. It was either an excuse to see him or a desire to end Faith personally. To be fair to Buffy she might have legitimately believed that only she could handle Faith but that still doesn’t justify her not calling him as soon as she could.

One thing about the Faith saga that's never really emphasized probably due to the period it was written was that she assaulted people in Buffy's life and used Buffy's body to commit an act of sexual assault on Riley, which caused Buffy and Riley trust issues. Buffy gets a lot of flack in this episode for being so harsh to Faith, but neither show really delved into what was actually done to her and everyone around her. Faith kinda got a massive pass for a lot of the damage she caused, emotionally and otherwise. Also, a consistent characterization with Buffy and Angel is that Buffy can be really headstrong and Angel can be dismissive and remove others' choices when they think they're in the right.

Sanctuary, and the preceding episode Five By Five, were two brilliant back to back episodes. Buffy coming back into the show again was a major surprise at the time, and Faith letting slip that she had had sex with Riley, who unbeknown to Angel was a major shock finding out that Buffy now had a new lover, you can see how hurt he is. Standout moment was actually Wesley's dart shot with the syringe. Along with the previous episode Five By Five, Sanctuary was one the best episodes of the entire show. The Faith Centric episodes are really what many fans think Angel took off as a spectacular show. When Buffy appears you can see her pure anger at not just Faith, but Angel too. It is understandable how Wesley and Cordelia would feel towards Faith considering her behaviour. However, Buffy knows at the end that she has to save Faith from the Council Hit Squad. Wesley as well changes here and shows his worth in how clever and brave he is as well. It's such a bitter farewell here between Angel and Buffy in the police station, but Faith knows she has to atone for her sins by giving herself up, knowing deep down that Angel is possibly the only person to help her, as he has been through similar torment. A great episode indeed. These two back to back episodes are as good as anything from BTVS. Great X-Files reference again with Detective accusing Kate of being Scully, it was Scully of course who was the sceptic and Mulder the believer.

I don't think it was jealousy that was behind Buffy's reaction. It was just shock to see the woman who had just violated her and SA'd her boyfriend being protected by her ex-lover. And there is an unfortunate misunderstanding. Remember, Angel doesn't know what Faith did to Buffy and Riley. Giles only told him "it was rough." So when Buffy asks him, "Do you have any idea what she did to me?," she means Faith stealing her body, leaving her to be murdered by the Council's wetworks team, raping Riley and being within seconds of slitting Joyce's throat before being stopped. So when Angel answers, "Yes," Buffy thinks he knows all that and is calmly saying essentially, "Yeah, so?" They both have fundamentally different info and it's all so much to process in that moment, especially for Buffy who isn't privy to what transpired at the end of "5 By 5."

this was definitely NOT Buffy's idea - Angel decided to break up with her, Angel decided to move to LA (the prom), and Angel decided to revert being able to be with her as human (I will remember you). all decisions that Buffy could have done have she had the chance, but never given the chance to even say her opinion before the decision was made.

Another great reaction from you guys. The Buffy/ Faith thing is so complicated, as a viewer you can see both povs but in this instance I side with Team Angel. And Faith turning herself in is such a major thing. She looks peaceful at the end, she finally stopped running.

For most people who have a stutter.... It is usually most prevalent when they are upset or nervous. Most, not all, other than can control it when they are with people they feel comfortable with. Unknown crowds/stressful situations/higher emotions tend to bring the stutter out more noticeably 🤷‍♀️

Life experiences during the honeymoon phase have a lot to do with how long the honeymoon phase last 🤷‍♀️ in my experience 🤷‍♀️ There is probably a, roughly, 4-month gap between Xander and Anya getting together and Buffy and Riley meeting. Then it also took a while between meeting Riley and actually getting together with him. Then add in the additional questions and insecurities.... Anya and Xander have insecurities within themselves but not so much with each other at this point(although their insecurities within themselves do sometimes get in the way). Buffy and Riley still haven't seemed to overcome their personal insecurities to be able to deal with any relationship insecurities yet... The whole Faith thing didn't help matters 🤷‍♀️
