I have my original Live Evil. Buying this would mean I would have 3 copies of the same album (one remixed, whoop-de-doo). If they included some extended material, well maybe. But I don't need posters that badly. In fact I don't need posters at all. Major misstep on their part when considering older fans that already own it. Saw them on Mob Rules tour in Toronto btw.
Yeah... good point... why can't Priest pull something like this off? They showed us last year that they have a vault of amazing concerts (I just wasn't willing to pay the $500 or whatever it was they wanted for the CD set). They could easily do a box like this... remaster the classics, include some outtakes, and throw in a live show. Charge $120. I would be the first to pre-order.
Just received the Sabbath box set this afternoon. Looking forward to taking it all in this weekend. The Cooper set looks interesting. May have to get that too.
Blimey Frank that Black Sabbath box set is a belter....especially the reproduced tour programme and booklet. Wish more groups would do that sort of things !! Record companies could have a field day releasing music this way with out-takes and rough mixes and media information from the time of release. Wouldnt it be good to have the band members recollections of recording it and maybe even the producer who worked on it. I know I would buy them. Great show Frank and have a great weekend !!
It's fun reading through all that stuff. It's my one complaint with CD box sets... the printing is too small! The larger fonts on the vinyl versions are more Gen X-friendly :) Have a good weekend as well. Frank
Lost my original double cassette live evil to a house fire in '89. Since then got hold a box set CD of Ozzie black sabbath years at tower record. The first six albums of sabbath in full on CD. Then got a DVD copy of Heaven and hell concert in 2005. I've been listening to the uploaded live evil album just the other day. Brings back memories of my youth. I'm 59 right now. Time flies.
I've got my copy of Killer pre-ordered and signed by 4 original members. I can't wait to play it. My favorite Alice lp, with Halo of Flies, Dead Babies, You Drive Me Nervous, etc.

I have to admit...Blizzard and Diary were the albums that sent me to Sabbath...and I love Oz with Sabbath...but I love Ronnie too...man's voice was made for metal...I'll go to my grave believing that Dio and Dickinson were the two best voices in metal.
Cool video Frank! I don't recall ever buying a box set of any group. Growing up in the dark ages they were and still are out of my price range. But I appreciate them just the same. In high school my best friend was into Alice. My favourite song I remember was Cold Ethyl. Keep on spinning Frank 👍
I saw Sabbath in the UK, Ronnie signed my ticket, on the part that gets surrendered, so I got him to sign it again on the bit you keep. Then I asked the ticket collector if I could keep their piece, so I have a complete ticket signed by RJD twice! And the gig was awesome - Dio on their eponymous song Black Sabbath was amazing, really bellowing those lyrics!

I am really impressed with the remix...easily made the $60 price worth it for me (for the cd set anyway). I really hope they do something similar for the Tony Martin-era albums!
Absolutely awesome all-round! Love the Black Sabbath Live Evil Super Deluxe and would definitely like to get the CD version, along with Vol 4 and Sabotage Super Deluxe. I don't own any box sets, probably the biggest thing I might have similar to that would be Johnny Cash - The Legend which is 4 CD's and has an excellent booklet in the middle attached to the spine. I bought that about 15 to 20 years ago. Those Whitesnake box sets you have look great too, and those expanded editions of the Alice Cooper LP's are fantastic.

On topic of Black Sabbath I am one of the funny people who likes 13 the most of their albums but I own the first album too. Ozzy himself I also am backwards and almost prefer anything Black Rain and onwards. His newest album Patient Number 9 is a stunning release considering prior to release there were headlines saying he had a 1% chance of surviving a surgery and coming out of it he announces the album with the response "I'm not dead yet" lol. Legendary in my books. Don't know if you have heard that whole album but I encourage it. I ordered 6 new records this weekend on their way....loving the hobby and happy to have found your channel 😊 💿
I was going to get the Robert Fripp "Exposure" super deluxe box set, especially when I saw that it included discs of the complete Frippertronics gigs that he was doing about that time. But unfortunately the Frippertronics gigs are on Blu Ray, and I don't have a Blu Ray player. And don't want to get one just to be able to hear the gigs. But I can understand why they were put on Blu Ray because if they had been on conventional CD's it would probably take 30 or 40 discs to hold them all. Impractical. Those two Alice Cooper reissues look incredible! I bought those albums when they came out in the early 1970's and loved them to death! I followed Alice Cooper's career very closely starting with "Pretties For You", and saw the band live three times (Struthers Field House, Lake Milton, and Three Rivers Stadium gigs). Great memories!
Right there with you about the Robert Fripp box set. Its the same reason I've not pulled the trigger on the King Crimson sets. I'm not getting a blu ray player to play music. I'm sure it all sounds amazing. But years of seeing live shows my ears are far from pristine.
Great video Frank. Oooh, that Whitesnake 1987 box… hurts to see, wish I’d grabbed it while it was readily available. There’s a couple of annoying holes in my collection, Jethro Tull box sets and that elusve the Doors Waiting for the Sun 50th which seems like they made less than half as many as the others. Its like they enjoy making the slower, can’t buy it all right away, folks suffer! 😂😢😂 Ha! They remade the panties again! Wow, I wouldn’t have thought so!
Different performances between the remixed & the remastered versions (as an example) listen closely to both versions of Neon Knights Dio's the way he delivers the lyrics and phrasing is totally different...
I discovered Alice on the mid 90’s while in college. Been a fan ever since. I have the original issues of these albums on vinyl but not on CD. So instead, I’ve asked for the remastered CDs for Father’s Day. That, and they are reasonably priced. Looking forward to your take on them. Keep rocking! 🤘🏼🎸🤘🏼
Great video again! As a owner of quite a few boxset I totally get it. And thanks for showing the Alice Cooper LPs : they are a bit too pricey so I’ll pass (like the VH live LP set ) , but they look great. BTW makes me think of the insane School desk box set they released years, again, with tons of studio outtakes and a Killer live show that sounds insane !

Have all the Metallica (amazing value in those), Motorhead Ace of Spades-also amazing. 2 of the 3 Def Leppard vinyl boxes, Both KISS (Creatures/Destroyer). All the Beatles that have come out so far, Whitesnake, Several McCartney's, Zeppelin II, Sabbath Paranoid-also amazing. Also Gnr Appetite and a few others. Hoping for a Too Fast For Love one in the near future (not holding my breath).
yeah, that was the tour where it came to Milwaukee Wisconsin and someone threw a bottle at geezer and busted him open and they said the hell with the fans and left and a big riot broke out in the arena

alice cooper..my ultimate favorite growing up..saw him more times in concert than anybody else..played killer to death when it first came out..so glad they put the calender in the packaging..the sabbath one is also great..curious if they fixed ronnie's name on this one...on the original, tony left out the 'james' part of dio's name for spite..it was an interesting time...side note..hope you bring back the mug with your animated self..couldn't get it the first time around...but hope you and the family are well..great health to all of you always and peace in the spinnin' my friend..rocky

I was never able to muster up the love to purchase an album by Iommi and Dio until they released as Heaven and Hell which is how it should have been from the start. As for box sets I'm not real big on the but I do have a few, mostly CD.
I do enjoy dedicated LP box sets. I have the CD editions of the Black Sabbath sets that have come out. I also have the deluxe editions of their first album, Paranoid, and Master Of Reality. I bought the Paranoid for the Quad mix. Of Note here is the Quad to Stereo Disc on the Paranoid Super Deluxe Box. I may not go for the Live Evil Box Set. I have a remastered CD from a few years back. All I'm really interested in is the remix of it. I would hope it comes out as a stand alone as well. Oh, yes I ordered the Killer & School's Out reissues as well. Gotta Have Alice! The only normal guy in show biz. Addendum: I saw the CD version of Live Evil Super Deluxe on Amazon for a decent price, and the Remix of the album blew me out of my chair. It sounds like a Black Sabbath live album always should have sounded, In Your Face! Ronnie is loud and clear, the drums are like a thunder storm, chest pounding bass, and Tony is riffing away. The new mix gives the album a more cohesive band playing together feel. I also picked up the Quadio BluRay Discs of Paranoid & Billion Dollar Babies - No Lie ---> Desert Island Discs
I saw them in Calgary at the Stampede Corral and I have that poster of the western canada dates since I was working at a record store at the time also the pictures in the tour book are exactly the same as the show I saw but the tour program I have has a different cover than the one I got from the show. The stage photos you see are basically curtain back drops that would change from time to time but the lighting riggs they used are the same ones used on the born again tour the following year but with a few added tricks. What I was hoping for when I first heard about the box set was the concert was filmed In Seattle but was never released for whatever the reason was back then some said it was lost but if that was the case then how come we have seen bits of it on UA-cam. I would like to hear your opinion on the sound quality and if it was worth it once again to get another remastered version of the album.

I have a question, I have a numbered copy of “The Best of Black Sabbath” it’s a four record set that spans thru the Ozzy,Dio and Ian Gillian years, the cover portrays like a few tide pools shaped like coffins. I have that same Black Sabbath compilation. A bit of an oddball record set, isn't it? It's not particularly valuable, but a cool set to have for sure. Came out of the UK in the early 2000s.
Did it or does it bother you that both vinyl's are from the same show and are identical? That's the only thing holding me back, I'm still contemplating. If they were different shows, it would already be in my possession. lol thx
For Live Evil, they're not identical. The original album had songs constructed from more than one show, and with overdubs. This remix uses complete songs from four different shows, without edits or overdubs. Some of the songs are previously unheard versions, others are the familiar version, with the "fixes" of the original. Beyond that, the sound is vastly improved. It all sounds big and powerful, the way this music should.
Dio Sabbath is what I consider my Black Sabbath and I will be getting this set (mainly for the remix) The production of the original was kind of muddy. (there was a lot of bad blood during production and accusations made at Dio for sneaking in after hours to tinker with the sound and already rehearsing with his solo band N junk like that) Hey, Frank! You called out all the band members, but you forgot to mention drummer Vinny Appice! (pronounced: app-uh-cee as apposed to brother Carmine's Uh-piece) Lastly, was his name spelled wrong as "Vinnie" on the original and was the Singer named as "Ronnie Dio"? Just curious as to how exacting the replicas are. I actually saw this version of Black Sabbath in 2007 and it was in my top 3 shows ever. Dio the King of Metal \m/ Enjoy your new sets! \m/
The spellings have been corrected. I included Vinny in my original edit, and mentioned he pronounces this last name different than his brother. But then I couldn't remember who pronounced it which way, so I just chopped that bit out. The mix has really been cleaned up... it is not muddy anymore. It's clear, with good separation, with Ronnie front and center. Really nice to hear - it's like hearing it for the first time again.
Yes, I noticed that in the tour dates. I just meant it would have been cool if they had been able to add Winnipeg to their western Canadian dates, since they were in Regina. Regardless, I would have been too young to go.
Ironic you should show Black Sabbath today. I managed to buy Technical Ecstasy and Never Say Die on CD at the new reduced prices at 50% less than recent prices. I now have all the first eight albums including the first three on Deluxe. I have no interest in the band after Ozzy left. It's great that others including yourself do have a keen interest in all things Sabbath. I do buy some Super Deluxe sets, but the album has to be of interest. By the way, the new panties with Schools Out are not flammable like the original ones.
The Sabbath box looks cool. I was at the Mob Rules tour when they recorded this. I have to say, the original al is one of the worst live albums as far as production goes. I hope the remix is better. I'll pick it up just because I was there. 🤘

I recently found an original School's Out 45 and was enjoying it until i was wondering wtf was going on at the end. That was a surprise. I dont know which live Sabbath show is my favorite of 4 & Sabotage. I rarely listen to the other extras. Other then the album albums. Oh yeah, the panties look like its made from doily? doilee? material. Bet they sell it by the roll at fabricland.
Personally I'm sick to death of box set packaging. You end up getting a lot of filler, repetition of pictures, crappy badges and lanyards etc, gets up my nose no end! *Really* irritates me when the printing is piss poor - the '82 album cover is much better than the '23 one. If they want to save money, cut back on some of the crap and up the quality.
Apparently it is coming up (I have heard conflicting stories that either Born Again or the Tony Martin stuff is next). The stories late last year said Tony found the original multi track tapes, and he was enthusiastic to get to work on that one. If there is one album that desperately needs a remix, it's Born Again.

Live Evil on vinyl was a regular spin for me in the 1980's.
Killer is probably the best for my money. Halo of Flies gives me goosebumps every time.

Great video again! As a owner of quite a few boxset I totally get it. And thanks for showing the Alice Cooper LPs : they are a bit too pricey so I’ll pass (like the VH live LP set ) , but they look great. BTW makes me think of the insane School desk box set they released years, again, with tons of studio outtakes and a Killer live show that sounds insane !
Like you I am a big Sabbath fan, Both Ozzy and Dio era. I am a few years older than you so I did see Dio fronted Sabbath twice.
Those would have been great shows to see. I am still kicking myself for skipping Heaven and Hell when they came through town.

I have the Killer and School's Out deluxe albums on order, but I decided to pass on the Black Sabbath box set. It looks pretty cool though, so I might have to pick it up also.
How could i forget-the Ozzy Blizzard/Diary box I first heard about on Channel 33rpm! Its also great-bonus DVD is killer. And Cheap Trick Budokan cd box.

Have all the Metallica (amazing value in those), Motorhead Ace of Spades-also amazing. 2 of the 3 Def Leppard vinyl boxes, Both KISS (Creatures/Destroyer). All the Beatles that have come out so far, Whitesnake, Several McCartney's, Zeppelin II, Sabbath Paranoid-also amazing. Also Gnr Appetite and a few others. Hoping for a Too Fast For Love one in the near future (not holding my breath).
I have one only of the Metallica's (the Black album) but I agree - there is a lot of value there.
I buy a few box sets and deluxe etc. Led Zeppelin is my all time favorite band, so I have all of those reissues.

alice cooper..my ultimate favorite growing up..saw him more times in concert than anybody else..played killer to death when it first came out..so glad they put the calender in the packaging..the sabbath one is also great..curious if they fixed ronnie's name on this one...on the original, tony left out the 'james' part of dio's name for spite..it was an interesting time...side note..hope you bring back the mug with your animated self..couldn't get it the first time around...but hope you and the family are well..great health to all of you always and peace in the spinnin' my friend..rocky

I was going to pass on both of the Alice Cooper albums since I have several copies of each... original year pressings and newer reissues... but then I noticed they had the live, 1972 concert recordings and now I gotta have them and I've put in an order with my local record shop.
Hi Frank, another great vid. I'm a massive fan of Alice Cooper based in NZ and missed out on the Love It To Death and Billion Dollar Babies coloured vinyl reissues, any word on other titles that may be getting the expanded editions from the Coop?
I have not heard anything, but if I was a betting man, I'd wager on a 50th anniversary deluxe reissue of Billion $ Babies later this year.

I was never able to muster up the love to purchase an album by Iommi and Dio until they released as Heaven and Hell which is how it should have been from the start. As for box sets I'm not real big on the but I do have a few, mostly CD.
The CDs one tend to be priced well.
I do enjoy dedicated LP box sets. I have the CD editions of the Black Sabbath sets that have come out. I also have the deluxe editions of their first album, Paranoid, and Master Of Reality. I bought the Paranoid for the Quad mix. Of Note here is the Quad to Stereo Disc on the Paranoid Super Deluxe Box.
I may not go for the Live Evil Box Set. I have a remastered CD from a few years back. All I'm really interested in is the remix of it. I would hope it comes out as a stand alone as well.
Oh, yes I ordered the Killer & School's Out reissues as well. Gotta Have Alice! The only normal guy in show biz.

I saw the CD version of Live Evil Super Deluxe on Amazon for a decent price, and the Remix of the album blew me out of my chair. It sounds like a Black Sabbath live album always should have sounded, In Your Face! Ronnie is loud and clear, the drums are like a thunder storm, chest pounding bass, and Tony is riffing away. The new mix gives the album a more cohesive band playing together feel.
I also picked up the Quadio BluRay Discs of Paranoid & Billion Dollar Babies - No Lie ---> Desert Island Discs

The Paranoid quad mix on DVD is a fun listen.
I saw them in Calgary at the Stampede Corral and I have that poster of the western canada dates since I was working at a record store at the time also the pictures in the tour book are exactly the same as the show I saw but the tour program I have has a different cover than the one I got from the show. The stage photos you see are basically curtain back drops that would change from time to time but the lighting riggs they used are the same ones used on the born again tour the following year but with a few added tricks. What I was hoping for when I first heard about the box set was the concert was filmed In Seattle but was never released for whatever the reason was back then some said it was lost but if that was the case then how come we have seen bits of it on UA-cam. I would like to hear your opinion on the sound quality and if it was worth it once again to get another remastered version of the album.

I have a question, I have a numbered copy of “The Best of Black Sabbath” it’s a four record set that spans thru the Ozzy,Dio and Ian Gillian years, the cover portrays like a few tide pools shaped like coffins. That’s the best I can describe it. Any knowledge on it? Thanks
I have that same Black Sabbath compilation. A bit of an oddball record set, isn't it? It's not particularly valuable, but a cool set to have for sure. Came out of the UK in the early 2000s.
Did it or does it bother you that both vinyl's are from the same show and are identical? That's the only thing holding me back, I'm still contemplating. If they were different shows, it would already be in my possession. lol thx
It doesn't bother me. I like comparing the 2 versions. It's also cool to finally have a better mix of the album. They really cleaned it up, IMO.
For Live Evil, they're not identical. The original album had songs constructed from more than one show, and with overdubs. This remix uses complete songs from four different shows, without edits or overdubs. Some of the songs are previously unheard versions, others are the familiar version, with the "fixes" of the original. Beyond that, the sound is vastly improved. It all sounds big and powerful, the way this music should.
WITHOUT the fixes of the original, sorry about that.
Dio Sabbath is what I consider my Black Sabbath and I will be getting this set (mainly for the remix) The production of the original was kind of muddy. (there was a lot of bad blood during production and accusations made at Dio for sneaking in after hours to tinker with the sound and already rehearsing with his solo band N junk like that)
Hey, Frank! You called out all the band members, but you forgot to mention drummer Vinny Appice! (pronounced: app-uh-cee as apposed to brother Carmine's Uh-piece) Lastly, was his name spelled wrong as "Vinnie" on the original and was the Singer named as "Ronnie Dio"? Just curious as to how exacting the replicas are. I actually saw this version of Black Sabbath in 2007 and it was in my top 3 shows ever. Dio the King of Metal \m/ Enjoy your new sets! \m/
The spellings have been corrected.
I included Vinny in my original edit, and mentioned he pronounces this last name different than his brother. But then I couldn't remember who pronounced it which way, so I just chopped that bit out.
The mix has really been cleaned up... it is not muddy anymore. It's clear, with good separation, with Ronnie front and center. Really nice to hear - it's like hearing it for the first time again.
The vinyl set was a little to pricy for me so I purchased it on CD instead.
One other comment , they did tour eastern canada but went into the united states first then came back up and did the rest of canada.
Yes, I noticed that in the tour dates. I just meant it would have been cool if they had been able to add Winnipeg to their western Canadian dates, since they were in Regina. Regardless, I would have been too young to go.
Ironic you should show Black Sabbath today. I managed to buy Technical Ecstasy and Never Say Die on CD at the new reduced prices at 50% less than recent prices. I now have all the first eight albums including the first three on Deluxe. I have no interest in the band after Ozzy left.
It's great that others including yourself do have a keen interest in all things Sabbath.
I do buy some Super Deluxe sets, but the album has to be of interest.
By the way, the new panties with Schools Out are not flammable like the original ones.

I think that Dio sometimes holds back on the Ozzy-Songs. At least that's how it sounds to me. Especially on "Paranoid".

Personally I'm sick to death of box set packaging. You end up getting a lot of filler, repetition of pictures, crappy badges and lanyards etc, gets up my nose no end! *Really* irritates me when the printing is piss poor - the '82 album cover is much better than the '23 one. If they want to save money, cut back on some of the crap and up the quality.
Hopefully born again wil be next..that one is a must1‼️‼️‼️😎
Apparently it is coming up (I have heard conflicting stories that either Born Again or the Tony Martin stuff is next). The stories late last year said Tony found the original multi track tapes, and he was enthusiastic to get to work on that one. If there is one album that desperately needs a remix, it's Born Again.
